Because it feels exactly like the way the 2 imagineering teams did, a scary/funny experience!
I was at Disneyland during the opening weeks of the Haunted Mansion and I was overwhelmed at the holographic effects. There is so much to see, that this became the attraction I would make a beeline to at each visit to the park. The glass was so new that it appeared to be not there at all in the ballroom. Over the years it became visible as minor reflections appeared on the glass surface. I thought that the glass was added to protect the ballroom and detracted from the illusion.
This trailer got me super hyped up for this film. The Haunted Mansion is my personal favorite Disney attraction of all time and this movie seems to be a worthy adaptation unlike the original film from 2003.
I am soooo excited for this movie! Going to DL next week!

There is a lot of eye candy in this version. However, it really looks like Disney is repeating everything that didn't work with the first movie with this new film.
Couldn't have been more disappointed with the trailer.
I couldn't agree more. It is visually stunning (as were the 2003 sets and costumes) but it is tonally incorrect. I see a lot of comments about "it is like imagineers wanted - half creepy half comedic" and I think that's the fail. Pirates became the famour movie franchise by taking its story SERIOUSLY and expaning on whatever was on the ride. The Haunted Mansion needs a SERIOUS take and some expansion (that is in a movie, not the ride).
I think otherwise, but I respect your opinion.

I'm skeptical. If they wanted to do a proper haunted film they would have been a crimson peak type of an approach. Instead of a ham-fisted attempt... I mean come on. Dan Levy? It should be a proper Gothic horror movie. Not some shlock fest.
That could worked better with Phantom Manor but the Disneyland Haunted Mansion ride is like this and the previous film, the journey of modern families through an old house with 999 haunts (some scary, some funny) who lives on it
