Just wanted to say that I've watched a few pretrip videos. And I think I like yours the most. Especially for a good base knowledge and how the test actually works. @@hthouston3924 I took my test in indiana and passed, however I am an 8 year truck mechanic so i know trucks and trailers well. Had to backup 100 feet straight, offset left/ right, parallel park left/ right and road test. I refused to test without a manual transmission. I went with a 10 speed and was able to double clutch upshift and down (usually I float with no issues but state testing facility required double clutching.
Trent Wheeler I failed my pre trip twice I have only one chance left 1st test was better than the 2nd one🙂 so now I'm learning as much I can, I have both trucks automatic and 10 spd I can't do double clutch but I know floating so I'll go with automatic then remove restriction for me it's important to get license first. Good luck with your future
@@hthouston3924 thank you. Sorry for some reason I didn't see this sooner. How would you get the automatic restriction taken off the license? Just wondering. We have many guys at work with the auto restriction that drive manual trucks very often. It's painfully stupid and ass backwards for a few of them. They drive so poorly they grind almost every gear shifting, then go to neutral just to slow down!
Great speaking voice and so easy to understand, great flow! I'm gonna calm myself DOWN the day of my test by watching this video before going to the test. Also, kudos to the camera driver with good close ups of all the parts. I was pretty worried when I saw a couple other vids that were 30-45 minutes long (?). Too much talking and explanations. This video seems to demonstrate the behavior and knowledge the examiner is going to look for, so it's helpful to see THAT, not all the explanations that throw you off your rythm.

Wow so much to check every time but seems simple enough to give a visual inspection. I always did that when just I drove my car. I learned that if I would have paid attention I wouldn't have had a tire blow out on my way home in the middle of the night when everyone was a sleep so I have always checked everyday since. Also I want to drive a truck some day so this information helps alot.

I was just watching this and heard him say and now on the passenger side we have the steering and braking...and wanted to see if anyone else noticed. Apparently we are the only two people in 67,000 that realize steering and brakes are not on the passenger side. Watch out when you drive.

Mr. Jeff Mills I have a question. I have been watching your videos back to back over the last few months on my journey to getting my CDL and I have completely memorized your sequence and rhythm in how you perform the pretrip inspection. I did a dry run going through the same pretrip sequence you are using in this video in front of my uncle who has been driving over 20 years and he told me this is not the correct way and I would fail my test if I did the test this way. I am so confused, is this not the correct way? I live in the Atlanta area, if I conducted my pretrip this way would they fail me? I mean I have this sequence down pact and it will just be hard to unlearn what I spent all of my time learning. I literally had to reschedule my road exam because he told me this wasn't the correct way I am completely confident I would have passed. I even showed him the video, not just this one but other ones you have as well. he really jammed me up on this one.

This is a timed test so you should want to say less. Staying secure is one word but properly mounted is two. When you add that throughout the test, you have wasted a lot of time. But to each is own.
Armando Ruelas i can’t pass. On air break test I pushed brake not enough, emergency valve pop out and i stop push a brake. I didn’t know emergency brake pups out first. Basically i heard a pops out valves noise and i stop pushed. 🤦♂️ Wednesday i will take a test again.

I take my exam at the end of August. Looking for any and all videos to help. I'm very confused on the pars and how to say it. In the video her said the steering, braking and suspension is on the passenger side. That was incorrect. Want to make sure you meant the driver's side.
You are showing the examiner at the beginning of the air brake test that the truck has reached the governor cut out rate (120) most vehicles in order to preform the test.

no illegal welds on mirrors, lol. Please click on all the images with bicycles just making sure your not a robot! Steering shaft no more than 2" of play, wrong it's no more than 10 degrees of play or 20" steering wheel no more than 2" of play. These testers drive me nuts that don't know what there talking about and want you to do it wrong like they do it to pass the test.
Its the same. But tx. Fort worth for sure wants to hear not crack...etc..no missing nuts or bolts. Not no missing parts . and this is full inspection. You got. 3. Inspection you could get here in tx. Coupling and cab mandatory.

There is "NO WAY" you would pass the air brake test in California that way. And it would be iffy on the preTrip and inCab...... Just saying you might want to practice a bit guy.

aside from calling the driver side the passenger side several times in a row... the guy was through and fantastic!

I was just watching this and heard him say and now on the passenger side we have the steering and braking...and wanted to see if anyone else noticed. Apparently we are the only two people in 67,000 that realize steering and brakes are not on the passenger side. Watch out when you drive.

Great instruction! Quick question: When doing the Service Brake Test, do you actually put the vehicle in drive and go 5 mph? You said you were going to but I didn't see you actually do it. Please explain. Maybe I missed something, I don't know.

Mr. Jeff Mills I have a question. I have been watching your videos back to back over the last few months on my journey to getting my CDL and I have completely memorized your sequence and rhythm in how you perform the pretrip inspection. I did a dry run going through the same pretrip sequence you are using in this video in front of my uncle who has been driving over 20 years and he told me this is not the correct way and I would fail my test if I did the test this way. I am so confused, is this not the correct way? I live in the Atlanta area, if I conducted my pretrip this way would they fail me? I mean I have this sequence down pact and it will just be hard to unlearn what I spent all of my time learning. I literally had to reschedule my road exam because he told me this wasn't the correct way I am completely confident I would have passed. I even showed him the video, not just this one but other ones you have as well. he really jammed me up on this one.

Why he keeps saying secure >>? It’s. Properly mounted not cracked or broken , And the windshield and the wipers you can mention them in the incab
This is a timed test so you should want to say less. Staying secure is one word but properly mounted is two. When you add that throughout the test, you have wasted a lot of time. But to each is own.

Armando Ruelas i can’t pass. On air break test I pushed brake not enough, emergency valve pop out and i stop push a brake. I didn’t know emergency brake pups out first. Basically i heard a pops out valves noise and i stop pushed. 🤦♂️ Wednesday i will take a test again.

So if you have a tandem axle instead of just a single would you have to name the parts for both drive axles?
Good question. No, all you have to do is inspect one of the axles because it is all in the same category.

I take my exam at the end of August. Looking for any and all videos to help. I'm very confused on the pars and how to say it. In the video her said the steering, braking and suspension is on the passenger side. That was incorrect. Want to make sure you meant the driver's side.

Not the case. As long as you have enough air to preform the next test, truck is good.

The front wheels also called your steers can't be rethreaded tires, they must be virgin radial tires
He forgot to say what level the air pressure had to be at when the low pressure buzzer sounds and when the air valve pop out.great video though.

What about the test where the govern kicks in ?
You are showing the examiner at the beginning of the air brake test that the truck has reached the governor cut out rate (120) most vehicles in order to preform the test.

Steering shaft no more than 2" of play, wrong it's no more than 10 degrees of play or 20" steering wheel no more than 2" of play. These testers drive me nuts that don't know what there talking about and want you to do it wrong like they do it to pass the test.

Its the same. But tx. Fort worth for sure wants to hear not crack...etc..no missing nuts or bolts. Not no missing parts . and this is full inspection. You got. 3. Inspection you could get here in tx. Coupling and cab mandatory.
Also on air brakes u have to do static test and applications test low pressure test and pop out test before you do tug test.

There is "NO WAY" you would pass the air brake test in California that way. And it would be iffy on the preTrip and inCab...... Just saying you might want to practice a bit guy.

This pretrip inspection works even in Alaska
All I can say is that this is not the greatest Class A pre-trip. It's not bad but it is a long way away from being a great inspection
