  • An excellent work from Yoram Hazony, which clearly distinguishes what is Right from what is Left-and correctly concludes that much of what is called "conservatism" is merely poorly-disguised leftism, as is so-called classical liberalism.

"Yoram Hazony’s Conservatism, a masterful work, is the book Patrick Deneen’s Regime Change should have been. Hazony explains how we got here, who our enemies are, why they are our enemies, and what we should do. He offers no preemptive apologies and he does not bow to the idols of the age. He shows why the Left is always only one thing with many heads, with which there can be no compromise. Conservatism, despite its anodyne title, moves beyond all the tired and profitless “conservative” babbling of the past six decades, offering a strong intellectual foundation for the future exercise of power by the Right, after the Left is gone forever from our nation (whatever that nation may then be called)." . . .

Thank you, that was very interesting. Personally, I think all talk of returning to a genuinely conservative society is just pie in the sky dreaming unless a given nation is composed of 98% of the same stock of people. But I guess that's saying the unsayable in these enlightened times.

I wonder what is meant by "public religion"?

Below, Yoram admitted the far-right is superior. He has no answer to them, but personal disgust. In the end, his civic nationalism is liberalism in disguise...
Yoram Hazony on the 2019 Dave Rubin Report said, “I think it’s a mistake to dismiss the far right-not that I’m sympathetic to them, but the quality of the arguments - the work that’s being done by people to justify like a kind of Neo-Darwinian of racism like a white identity politics. They’re actually doing quite a bit of work to get this idea into shape. I detest it. I hope it’s soundly defeated, but it’s really quite attractive to lots of people in their twenties and thirties who are looking at the old liberal order and saying, ‘OMG that doesn’t work, so where do we go?’ And it means those of us who are inclined to a national conservativism that has nothing to do with race… we have a lot of work to do to create something that’s going to be sufficiency coherent, powerful and attractive so that it will actually be politically effective before these other guys, you know, win!"

@@CharlesHaywood Hopefully, Jeremy Carl asking the question, "Do whites of European descent have a right to not be replaced in their own countries?" and Amy Wax, "Our country will be better off with more Whites and fewer nonWhites," will help shift the Overton Window. I asked Microsoft Copilot about identitarianism:
"Identitarianism is a term that refers to a political ideology, often associated with far-right movements, which emphasizes the importance of a shared identity based on ethnicity, culture, or religion. It is particularly known for its focus on the preservation of a certain group's cultural and ethnic identity, and it often opposes multiculturalism and immigration."
"The Identitarian movement originated in France and has since spread to other European countries and beyond. It promotes concepts such as ethnopluralism and is generally opposed to globalization, multiculturalism, and immigration, particularly from non-European countries. The movement has been criticized for its exclusionary and sometimes xenophobic views, and it has been classified as right-wing extremist by some organizations."
"It's important to note that discussions around identitarianism can be sensitive and controversial due to the political and social implications of the ideology. If you're looking to understand more about this topic, it might be helpful to explore a variety of sources and perspectives to gain a well-rounded view."
