    I think the face hugger is the true form of the xenomorph, just that it requires another species to "reproduce" into to spawn a xenomorph. Yeah no. The face hugger does not implant an embrio, it implants a mass of cancerous like cells that fuse with the hosts DNA to create what is known as the chest burster. This is why it takes on the traits of the host. Ex. Dog type (Aliens 3), human type (aliens franchise) etc. etc. Otherwise every single alien would look the same no matter what host it came from and everyone knows that's not the case. Also this was confirmed by multiple creators of the series.

    • @XXveny
      @XXveny Před 2 lety +16

      It would make more sense considering the black goo and its effects. But in the end, chest burster is a new organism. Hybrid of original xenomorph and its host. It would be perfectly possible for embryo to "absorb" some traits of its host which would also support the theory of xenomorphs being a bioweapon (and creating hybrids would be great way to combat every organic enemy possible.

      It's already been explained by people who wrote the movies, comics, books, etc, that it is an embryo. The thing is though, you noticed the dorsal vents on the backs? That is for O2. You do not technically get your cellular energy from food, you get it from O2, so food indirectly gives energy. However these vents can consume O2 if it is around, therefore they don't need to eat. If there is low O2 then you could expect them to consume solids, but that doesn't have to flesh. These beings are bio-mechanical and are non-obligate lithovores, consuming rocks, flesh, bones, plastic, and even metal.

You can tell a mission has a chance at success by if you have to deal with a Pretorian or not. If your mission involves running into one, save yourself the time and get some cyanide. All xenomorphs can do that. I'm getting all typed out so I'll try to make this quick. Xenomorphs have that ability and I noticed certain similarities all over the place. First, their primary weapon is their tongue. When it's being used it's stiff and hard. When it's not in use and being collected by Ripley-8 in Alien Resurrection and by the Yautja in AVP and AVPR the tongues are noted to be described as flaccid. I'd also like you to remember who created the Xenomorph. Hector Rupert Giger made incredible bio mechanical expressions of art that incorporated sexuality with predatory aggression and violence. It is entirely within his wheelhouse that his creation would use its own reproductive organ as its most iconic weapon, thus providing more parallels to sexuality, carnivorous aggression and even rape in a singular artistic display we see as the great sleek monster, the Xenomorph. I am aware his vision for this creature did not include science fiction but horror. The difference being sci-fi gives you an explanation to seek comfort in and horror gives you no such luxury in the form of answers. A monster without an explanation is just that, a monster. It is only when you gain answers that the monster gains identity and labels. It stops being a monster and instead becomes a documented species. The shroud of ignorance and terror is lifted to reveal comfort in the form of knowledge.
      But getting back on track, a species considered to be perfect should always have multiple alternative ways to repopulate in the event the Queen is killed. Gambit laying, which is where one of the ovamorphs will evolve into a royal Facehugger is one way. Egg-Morphing is another. Corruption laying is risky and as such is never seen but that is when a Xenomorph dies in a pile of organic mass and using its last few minutes to secrete what little royal jelly and xeno resin all over itself and the collection of bio mass beneath it to create a unique, misshapened ovamorph to continue the process in the event the xenomorph cannot continue. The last way is the xenomorph itself can use its tongue to impregnate a host, but this is proven less effective due to the host generally being fully conscious and if the potential host bit off the xenomorph's tongue the acid flooding the host would kill it and the xenomorph would likely die within minutes of this happening. Additionally, the process is much slower and there is no breathing organ so the host would likely suffocate and die before the seed could even be implanted.
      I suppose you could relate these methods to bringing a knife to a gun fight. A queen is just faster, more efficient and has a significantly greater chance for host survival up until the birthing process.
      All this said, not one bit of this is cannon. I'm just disappointed with the intelligence of the writers, so I intrust the legacy of these beautifully horrifying creatures to someone more competent, myself. • @Dreamscape195
    @Dreamscape195 Před 2 lety +11

    In the top-down rts Playstation blue disc AVP: Extinction, the royal face hugger infects a host only with praetorians - but the praetorian can go through a secondary transformation to become a queen, which is part of why they're her guard, because if something does happen to her, one of them can replace her. Personally I'm fond of this interpretation.
    There's a few other types of xenomorph the game introduces that weren't mentioned here: the carrier and the ravager. The ravager is shown to have a LOT more brute strength bulk, armor, and massive arm blades. It lacks speed and agility but is larger than the praetorian and almost the same size as the queen. It acts like a tank. The carrier is lanky and lithe with long finger-like back spines each meant to sustain a facehugger that has left the egg. The facehuggers it carries don't last indefinitely, but last a lot longer than the do on their own once hatched. If killed, the carrier violently expels the facehuggers towards the nearest hosts. If I remember correctly, these too are secondary transformations of a praetorian, but can only be created if the hive is large and strong enough, when it is "safe" for one of the guard to enter a secondary transformation period.
    In that game the drone is smaller than the warrior but close to the same size as the runner. It still spits acid and has a part in creation of the hive and tending to the eggs. The runner in the game cannot spit acid, but is still the fastest and good at scouting, and dragging unconscious bodies back to the hive quickly and efficiently. In the game, warriors are the only human-derived variant (royals aside) and have the ability to regenerate up to half their body if safely in the hive and not taking further damage. Each type of creature you infect gives either a drone, runner, warrior, or predalien. The host choices are unsurprisingly limited in the game. Any host can hatch a praetorian, though, as all hosts implanted by a royal facehugger produces praetorians exclusively.
    Lol it's old and pretty easy (at least as the xenomorphs; I'm absolutely awful at being the humans or predators), but I always found it very fun. I wish more games allowed you the option to be the xenomorphs.

    Think about it, Humans could've had a Xenomorph (even though it had no tail or inner jaw) to help in a LOT of situations. Ripley could've learned from it's Xeno instincts HOW Xenomorphs tend to think/plan/act. Plus, alone, it had enough power to RIP THE FACE OFF A QUEEN. That's a useful soldier to have.

That was honestly one of the most horrifying parts of AvP:R when it was forcing it's own embryos down the throat of a pregnant woman. From the shot it looked like four bursters came out. I remember seeing in a game that the yautja referred to it as "The Abomination."
    Also on a side note the yautja in AvP:R I always thought of a Specialist. He didn't act like a hunter but more like a he was covering something up. I assumed he must have earned enough honor within yautja culture he could risk using dishonorable techniques to preserve the Earth as a hunting ground. The Predalien risked that so he was called on to exterminate it and keep the yautja's existence secret from humanity.

    just recently watched the prometheus movie and I was hoping it would shed more light on the origin of the xenomorphs. It shows how engineers consumed some sort of goo and created life on Earth and presumably the Engineers are responsible for the creation of xenomorphs as well, to be used as a destructive force or invasive species. But that black goo is very confusing to me. There were hints when they first found it that there were worms in that chamber, and then eventually some very strange and slender looking face hugger variant which showed a lot of strength in its ability to break the biologists arm. I thought at first this goo is a transformative substance also based on how it appeared to try to change the decapitated engineers head and possibly that the goo transformed the worms into face huggers. But then I wonder why the geologist didnt transform into a xenomorph after prolonged exposure to the goo he became really hostile but retained a mostly human form. I also understand it is a prequel and that the species of xenomorph has been steadily evolving over the film franchise but I still wish it had given some more clarification on what that substance is and does specifically or how xenomorphs came to be, maybe an engineer created the first queen something along those lines. I do think a fascinating story would be if humanity and the bioweapons division managed to capture and experiment on the xenomorphs specifically to see how they could alter to xenomorphs based on having the face huggers attach to different organisms like would a face hugger attached to a bat produce a xenomorph with fleshy wings and echolocation abilities? or a face hugger attached to a kangaroo produce a xenomorph with a more advanced tail and enhanced pouncing capabilities? would a shark produce an giilled xenomorph? For me that adaptability is one of the most fascinating traits.

      @asurasyn Před 2 lety +1

      Check the deleted scenes of _Prometheus_ .
      He originally was turning into a xenomorph after exposure but Ridley Scott didn't want to focus on the xenos, but the engineers.
      😕
      The black blood is taken from a creature called the Deacon, which is basically an anorexic xenomorph. So, the engineers, ansd SPOILER ALERT!!!
      ...
      ..
      .
      ..
      ...
      Even David didn't "create" the xenomorphs so much as clone or replant the species unknowingly.
      There was clearly a xenomorph protospecies before the engineers even existed, so who knows where the story will go in the end.
