Amazing Chapati-making machine at Golden Temple, India

- This Chapati or roti-making machine was donated to the Golden Temple by a Lebanon-based devotee. The machine is, however, used only on days that are likely to witness huge crowds.
The machine can make rotis of 20-kg flour in just half-an-hour. To get the flour, there are two machines in the basement of the langar hall and another that kneads one quintal (100 base units of either pounds or kilograms) of flour in just five minutes. It is this fine team of man and machine that makes it possible for the gurdwara to provide 24-hour langar on all days.

This is truly amazing. Running 24/7 year round, by volunteers who do this as a community service, using all donated ingredients, to feed everyone that comes for free; till they are full. Over 100 thousand a day. This is the level we must aspire to as a species. This machine is incredible. Figure 5 breads per person at a minimum.

im sure this machine is very efficient, but doesnt it compromise the act seva by taking away the human element of its production?
there is a place in the kitchen where people can come and prepare rotis but the number of people that come for langhar is so high that this is required.

bro you are right, but the number of people is also high the sevadar in darbar sahib couldn't able to make rotis for those at a time. so, atleast 1 roti maker is required.

The end products look more like pita than chapatti though.
its a thicker version of chapathi called roti which is prepared in punjab and few other places in the northen india
you are right... but rotis and parathas are thicker versions of chapatis
and thats the reason they only use this machine when there are way too many people visiting .... because the rotis are not as tasty as when made with hands
