    you humbly call yourself NON-ELITE ! But keep this in mind Sage, you ARE one of the best Marathoners on this planet...the few hundreds faster than you is just a minute percentile at way over 7.6 billion people in the world! you ARE GREAT!

      @RunFor OurLives thats totally wrong cos it also depends on the Country you are living in and you cant always take the world stage as a comparison, period. In greece you kill 'em all with 2:17 and still go to the Olympics. In Romania and many other countries as well . And they are still considered elite and take part in world Championships cos they ARE the best of the best meeting the very best of the top.

      I'm no where near that fast, but I am always solo like that as my pace is just too fast for the main pack and too slow for the front pack. And yeah, it is tough.

    Don't compare yourself to Rupp, maybe if you had Galens coaches and their 'secret sauce' you'd have managed it- but i wouldn't be following you on youtube if you did, great running, consider Edinburgh next year- it's IAAF certified with a but net downhill, Great running love the music keep it up:)

      And an amazing city. I took 3hrs 50 and that’s still top 20% as a first timer amateur with only 6 weeks proper training before it. Sub 4 was my goal and was happy, it is a great race though

    Definitely the best videos from any athlete I've seen come from Sage. The guy puts it all out there. Failures and success. This particular video captures the emotional swings of disappointment and forward facing positivity. Such an inspiration but at the same time so relatable. He's an elite but suffers like us all. Injury and disappointment get us all but it's how we move on an motivate ourselves. By the way, 'the seeker' by The Who might just suit you for your next 'training talk intro'.

    First of all congratulations on your 17th in Copenhagen, it's a great deal and a real achievement. Make no mistake, first and foremost you succeeded at a great event and gave everything you had to give on the spot. That being said I know you had your eyes on an even bigger goal but because you already have the right mindset and you are more than capable, I'm sure you'll succeeded eventually.
    This video is exactly how you make a freaking lemonade when life serves you lemons. :)
