Dropped this so many times .............. timeless beat .......... just gets you....... the rift..... the beat ....... the rhythm ........... the song! play it loud peeps!
This was a massive hit in 1992 the stereo MCs were just brilliant vibrant band I remember this in the charts that summer I had just bought my house !!! Princesses night club opened in Wigan Lancashire England and the DJ would play this ground breaking hit evert Saturday night !!! No 1 in the UK it was the hit of the summer !!! Brings back very happy memories this is just a brilliant track !!!
the UK in those days was one big dancehall, everybody was chilled and having a good time, and England went close that summer too.heady days,so much optimism.
So damn honored to have grown up and enjoyed this tune back in the day, instead of being introduced to it by a movie, like the youth of today! Oh yeah!!! ✌😎🤘
TherymasterWidnes wait why 4 53 if the song is longer...did u have the same prob i did with the first sample riding too long? But still appreciate the actual song?lol idk maybe
They put the final nail in the coffin of The Happy Mondays. They supported them at the Academy in Brixton and blew the Mondays of stage. Rob Birch, Brixton Massive!!!!!
I just pretty much said the exact same thing tonight in the comment section on a video where they performed Step It Up on The Word. Think I saw them at either Birmingham , Nottingham or Wolverhampton ? Who knows, what I do know though is that they were fucking amazing live.
With The Brand New Heavies, MC Solar, and the rest of the Acid Jazz scene from the early 90s...we have Stereo MCs. They bring a kinda new funk with working class accent. They mix is really very nice. Shit. Haven't listened to this in 15 years and it still stinks so good.
Flashback to living outside Panama City Beach, Fla in the early 90's. I could write a book. Can't imagine what the cool kids must have seen. Long live slightly hazy memories.
back in the late 80's / early 90's my hobby was the little recording studio I built at home. I used to buy magazines on the subject and I remember a long article in one of them about the Stereo MC's. A lot of people may not know that they recorded and produced their first album with equipment bought with compensation money they received after being kicked out of a high-rise flat. The equipment they bought was actually fairly crude, but the results were brilliant. I do think there is a kind of slightly unpolished rawness about their early music that is a result of how they were making it and that gives tracks like this a unique quality.
Thank you stereo Mc's, early jamaraqi material, massive attack, tricky and orbital for teaching us what music really should sound like, your creativity, sound and messages will live on for entirety, your legacy will go on forever. Now, Today's artists, learn something from these people please.
I remember when I first heard this song in San Francisco night club/concert this was playing before the concert got started so it was kinda of the opener but it had everyone dancing I believe it was 1991-92 the speakers made it thump
surprised to hear that as this band was very much a product of the London clubs and with the vibe.did that vibe extend to your side of the pond then? blissed out and cuddly? (didnt last too long in England before we were knocking six bells out of each other again)
I can honesty say that is 4 minutes, 53 seconds of my life that I haven't wasted!!!..ya..you can rewire your brain wid music like this..just listen and listen...instead of meditating or worryin about geopoliticalpoopassbullshitgetinthecaroutofthebatthroom..kinda minutia...
Has to be in a top 100 of best songs ever.
Dropped this so many times .............. timeless beat .......... just gets you....... the rift..... the beat ....... the rhythm ........... the song! play it loud peeps!

Ain't that the truth!
Saw them live in the early nineties couple of times.
One time they were support act and they were better than the headliner, U2.
Ah good times :-)
Bether than U2, I was there too (the live concert) and I didn't wanted to listen to U2 after this great hipnotic-sound.
Yay.. second that at the old Wembley stadium...blew U2 away.
Saw them at Cardiff supporting U2 and you're right, they blew U2 out of the water
