This song is a MASTERPIECE. I wish she made more songs like this even though the meaning of it is really sad and it's probably too painful for her to sing it live.. Songs like these are Grammy material.

I do think Ed Sheeran's version is a lot better and I have heard Demi's version. I never said she didn't put emotion in her songs because I know she does, I saw her perform at The Hollywood Bowl with Ed. I obviously don't know how she feels and either do you, or anyone. I think she has a great voice, but I'm just saying I like Ed's version better.
Look people, the only way to settle this dumb shit is to just simply agree that both Demi and Ed Sheeran put plenty of emotion in theirs songs and yadda yadda(still think Demi is #1 X3)

I cry because this song is about her dad and a month after its release he died :'( And Demi was so upset about it, eventhough he neglected her, she still wrote about her love for him
it's a love and rage state i think, as a child I think although her father has done several terrible things to her, Demi actually still feels lost and she loves him. I think it's complicated indeed

There is something about Demi's voice that is amazingly beautiful, and i can't stop listening. This song is so beautifully sad, it makes me so emotional. I honestly can't relate to this song, but it awakens something in me that gets me so emotional, and i love it.
Demi is one of just few artists that, apart from sex, empowerment and being the coolest in the world, can write and sing songs about true feelings. I'm lucky I've never experienced the situation she talks in this song, but you can hear and feel her pain, and that's really emotional.
