    What is the torque spec for the auto tensioner bolts? 8m hex and 12m bolt? Thank you

    My 2.4 engine Accord car is making a noise when I turn on the AC and I noticed that the water pump shakes a lot when I turn the AC on. My mechanic thought it was the pulley tensioner bearing but the noise is still there. That bearing was bad but wasn't the main cause of the noise. Days after I noticed the water pump would shake so I have a feeling it's the pump. 160k on the car now so I feel it's best to just replace it regardless as part of the maintenance.

      If the pulley has any lateral play then the pump is bad. With the engine off, LOL, grab the pulley and see if you can move it side to side or take a screwdriver or prybar and push on it to see how much movement you get or take the belt off and spin the pulley to see if it's noisy.

    Having just done a head gasket and the water pump on that engine it was nice to see a professional put those bolts back into the water pump after you replaced it. They were a real pain. I liked your flexible magnet that seemed to work good. I also liked your gear wrench set up for the fan belt. I had to use a 14mm closed on the idler arm and then a 1/2 breaker bar in the open end to give myself enough leverage to get the belt back on. Nice job. I do enjoy you talking us through the project instead of the music, but i understand you are getting paid to work not entertain us.

    • @raincitywrench117
      @raincitywrench117  Před 2 lety

      Have a few tensioner tools but the gear wrench works the best. Way back when I used to use two end wrenches to collapse those style of tensioners. The flexible magnet has saved my bacon many times.
      It's definitely a juggling act on my videos. I try to film as many as I can & not have to use music, I know the majority of viewers don't like it but if music is playing in the background when filming, CZcams flags me and demonetizes the video. Will probably be doing more videos with voice over narration in the future. Thanks for watching!

      Uggh. My 2012 crv is at 112. All systems go. I think I'm gonna wait till that thing makes some noise before I replace it. Had a 1986 accord squeak for a solid year at first startup in the morning. Didn't think much of it untill I was traveling from Memphis to St Louis and coolant exploded all over engine and windshield at 80 mph. Damn near wrecked it and just pulled over into the median. Walked a couple miles (no cell phones) and found a mechanic who replaced it for $80..this was 1997. Good to go. When it squeaks, replace it..don't be like me. An amazing vehicle.

      @@starkeymorgan4142 Wow, what a story. The best preventative maintenance is to drain and fill the cooling system every 5 years or so. When the silicates break down it takes the water pump seal and bearing out. My Yukon made it 135k before it started a random squeak from the engine. My gut was the water pump so replaced it a few months back and the noise has never returned.
