Grew up in Southeastern CT - Mystic, Stonington, Groton, New London, Niantic, Watch Hill, Misquamicut - Fisher's Island Sound, The Race, Orient Point, Naptree Piont, Watch Hill - all of it. Used to run all over that area in my dad's 1968 17' Boston Whaler Nauset in the 1990s. No radar, no Raymarine. Just a depth gauge, a paper chart and local knowledge. Great zone for boating and fishing for Stripers, Bluefish, Porgies (Scup), Sea Bass, and Fluke. Good memories.
I could tell the same story. Same boat, age and local knowledge. Good times indeed.
Nice seeing the variety of technique in each of these areas. Great video.
Yall ever do 15lb braid on 7ft medium spinning rods with 20lb fluoro for stripers and blues for "light tackle"? It's amazingly fun. It's definitely not I think traditional but it's definitly a thrill. Yes it's dicy lol but it can be one of those things that once you try it it's definitly addictive. Especially for surf fishing standards and back back surf fishing but hope this may be a inspirational thing to give it a go. Tight lines.
Its not fair the number and size the catch down there during the winter.
What month was this?
I fished off the MiJoy 2 55 years ago! Always liked party boat fishing because of it.
