I didn't know much about this song until it was performed at my grandfather's funeral and since then it has become one of my favorites, for both bittersweet reasons and because I love the song. I have looked for many different arrangements that stick to the true melody of the song and this one is one of them. Beautiful.

Tom, this was just a couple of years before I joined, and I must admit to being a bit jealous: I wish I had been there to sing it! What a fine arrangement, and sung so well by the choir. I hope we will do it again some time soon. How good of you to commission a piece for the choir, too!

Absolutely stunning. I am a church choir director and sent a link to them so that they could listen to it. Thanks for posting this!

John Gill ...so glad you like it! We love singing it in the Duke Chapel Choir , and I am so blessed to have been a small part of the creation of this arrangement of such a magnificent poem and score. Sometimes I'm unable to see the notes and sing it in performance through the tears.

I can certainly identify with that - especially if you know the background of this hymn and how it came to be written. Keep up the excellent work!

@@jk8429 The history behind this song is truly haunting and captivating at the same time. Such a tragedy but such a beautiful creation came from it.

It is NOT "well with my soul" right now, in this time of political rancor, strife, stress, and uncertainty. When I feel like this, I listen to Duke's rendition of this beautiful song: it helps to "re-center" my soul!

It is in times of trouble that Jesus can be our rock. No matter the weather our soul is anchored to Him. That is what this song is all about. I will pray for you. May you be happy and healthy.

Nice choir, but y'all need a couple of basses. I mean real basses, not baritones giving it a shot. Other than that, very good ensemble.
