  • Amazing! There's simply no other word to describe the Vancouver 2010 Olympic & Paralympic Winter Games. Canada won it's most medals ever with 26, we set the record for most gold medals ever won in any single Winter Olympics with 14, and of course we brought home the Hockey Gold! It was the experience of a lifetime that left us all with memories to share for years to come.
South Asian Arts was fortunate enough to have been involved in many of the Olympic festivities, showcasing South Asian dance, music, and culture throughout the city. Between February 5th and March 16th, we performed 32 times in 39 days at 14 different venues across the Lower Mainland and Whistler. Many of our performers also participated in both the Opening and Closing Ceremonies.
But still, the highlight of the entire event was when we won the Gold Medal in men's hockey on home ice, and the excitement that followed. We started our own celebration with some Dhol drumming and Bhangra dancing through the streets of Downtown Vancouver. This short clip is a montage of the party that took place after the "Golden Goal" was scored by Sidney Crosby.
Enjoy...and sorry for the shaky video :-)
