    Jack Lord was "The Lord"; he was an incredible actor and one that inspired me to become a police officer; He was a Legend and took his roles seriously, especially the Steve McGarrett role. He was a perfectionist ensuring that they portray police officers as 'professionals'. That's why Hawaii 50 is still timeless 50+ years later.

    I grew up calling him Uncle Jack and every day was fun. Ty Uncle Jack for teaching me so much.

    Excepting for monetary success, his seemed a messy, star-crossed life. Most sad.
    As for the estrangement from his own flesh-and-blood, his son, this tends to indicate to myself that something somewhere in this star scenario was really wrong.

      He wasn't estranged from his school n. That was tabloid gossip. Jack never talked about his son in any interviews.

      Hawaii Five O was a great series and Jack Lord was perfect for that role.

    I wonder. James MacArthur had said in an interview that Lord was difficult to work with due in part to his tantrums and quick temper if he didn't get his way. Also that he had little time for the Hawaiian actors and treated them badly??

    • @margaretross9150
      @margaretross9150 Před rokem +3

      He did manage to produce a show that never had a bad episode, had a sense of humour, and actually featured a lot of Hawaiian culture and actors. Maybe it was just the stress of getting this done.

      James MacArthur never said any of that stuff. That was some nasty actress who got kicked off the show for doing drugs. There were Hawaiians in the main cast and numerous Hawaiian extras. You think Jack didn't want to be around them, yet worked with them for 12 years?

    • @dugan6056
      @dugan6056 Před 11 měsíci

      @@vrinda5303 Yes he did, I saw him being interviewed many years ago, though MacArthur was pushed by a professional interviewer, I don't think he would have generally volunteered the comment. As for a 'nasty actress', sounds like hearsay!

    • @vrinda5303
      @vrinda5303 Před 11 měsíci

      @@dugan6056 No, that nasty actress was Sharon Farrell. She gave an interview where she made those comments. There was no interview on film or in print where James MacArthur made those comments. The only filmed ones where he mentioned Jack was on Entertainment Tonight and on the DVD extra, and he didn't make those comments.
