- This video was very exciting for me to make. It’s my first time going into the town of Tofino here on Vancouver island and using a sea kayak. This day was full of learning experiences and adventure all thanks to an amazing view of this channel, Pricilla Haskin. I took this tour with Jamie’s and the wonderful tour guide Kate and learned way more about the old growth nature in these ancient forests and how they’re preservation in key to help our land survive. I also licked a banana slug in this video because I was told I could be in the Slug club, and my tongue went numb due to naturally producing anesthetic.😂 This was a great day for exploring and these memories will always stay with me, thanks for watching!

Thank you for this experience! And the encouragement to film it so now I have it to look back on and learn from. Was a pleasant paddle in and got choppier in the afternoon on the way back. Was very exciting and a little glimpse of what it could be like on more open ocean. 🌊 at this time of year there was so much life blooming in the forest and underwater

Your guide did a fabulous job of explaining Meares Island and the land-use conflicts, and the special significance of Meares Island (and even the famous cows). Thanks for including this in your video.
From what I've observed, visiting Meares Island can be a spiritual experience. Very meaningful, in a sacred place of nature.

Oh wow. Thank you so much for taking us along the tour. It rocked. I would have liked the slug also.😛. That was so cool. What a view from your van you have. Thats a blessing to experience. I wish you could get a fold up kayak. They are light and pack up so easy. We have paddle boards. But if I was in van I may try out a folding one.

This looks like it was so much fun! I would love to kayak there. It was also super interesting learning about the forest and the wildlife that lives there. I never would've imagined that cows would hangout on the mud flats.
Hahaha right! Eating the eel grass at low tide, I’ve met some native people here and they’re like these dumb cows lmao. The salamander egg sacs were super cool!

Isn't it a trip that Meres is only water source for Tofino?
In the summer they run out often and alllll the resorts have
to 'tell' guests they are not allowed to use their big soaker tubs
and the outside hot tubs that are part of many a cabin etc are
not filled.
So ppe come paying thousands of dollars and they cannot
even use a hot tib...it is interesting needless to say.
Ucluelet has 3 water sources I think so Tofino often has to buy
water from them in late summer.
Oh my gosh I hope you are there now in the sun as you have
deserved it given the immense rain you've had.
p.s. I purposely never told you about the cows . . . I was so
hoping you would see them, hehe
