Hola, Mademoiselle Austen

Welcome to the 2024 edition of the VirtualJaneCon!
We are Claire and Carmen, and our video is called "Hola, Mademoiselle Austen". Here, we are exchanging our views on Jane Austen, based on being a French Janeite and a Spanish one. We are talking about the reception of Jane Austen in both languages, as well as the influence of the writer and her works in other cultures that are not English speaking. Also, we will take you on a little tour through Paris, so you can travel to the most important English bookshops of the "City of Love".

About Audrina: She is a globetrotter at heart, and she has multiple missions in which she exercises her talents as a photographer and videographer.
About Claire: She is deeply in love with everything English and has been a devoted Janeite for many years. Always looking around Paris in search of whatever could be a reminder of her dear Great Britain, she shares her adventures on Instagram @jane_austen_france_. Last year, she released "Jane Austen: The Visual Encyclopedia", along with Gwen Giret, a compilation book on the writer, her works and her heritage. The book will be appearing in English very soon by Titan Books.
About Carmen: She is a Spanish "Austenita" currently living in Paris, who shares with her sister Almudena "El Sitio de Jane" (janeausten.org.es). Through the forum "El Salón de Té" (www.instagram...., they promote Jane Austen for Spanish speaking audiences (but open to everyone!) while having a good time and uniting the Austen legacy worldwide. She has written about Spanish speaking fans (“Historia de los Austenitas”), articles for JASNA and others, and she has collaborated with universities, libraries, and other literature groups, as well as participated in the VirtualJaneCon editions from 2021 and 2023.

Somos Claire y Carmen, y nuestro vídeo se llama "Hola, Mademoiselle Austen". Aquí intercambiamos nuestras opiniones sobre Jane Austen, partiendo del hecho de ser una Janeite francesa y una española. Hablamos de la recepción de Jane Austen en ambos idiomas, así como de la influencia de la escritora y sus obras en otras culturas no inglesas. Además, te llevaremos en un pequeño recorrido por París, para que puedas viajar a las librerías "inglesas" más importantes de la "Ciudad del Amor".

Bienvenue à l'édition 2024 de la VirtualJaneCon !
Nous sommes Claire et Carmen, avec "Hola, Mademoiselle Austen". Nous échangeons nos points de vue sur Jane Austen, sur le fait d'être une Janeite française et une Espagnole. Nous parlons de la réception de Jane Austen dans les deux langues, ainsi que de l'influence de l'écrivain et de ses œuvres dans d'autres cultures non anglophones. Nous ferons également un petit tour de Paris, afin que vous puissiez voyager dans les librairies anglaises les plus importantes de la « Ville de l'Amour ».

Your virtual tour is amazing!! I enjoyed following you on your tour first in the Petit Palais museum, then in the lovely garden (which I haven't yet truly visited 😮) and then in the different bookstores. 16:29 ❤ Fantastic tour/ video!!❤ I didn't know anything about the first French translations (I didn't know that the first translators had changed the ending of "Raison et Sentiments" and the names of the main characters like Anne VS Alice! Very interesting !! 😊
