Thanks Joe, very useful!
I always say if you can see them during the day then they can see you always! Thanks for stopping by yo!
I finally won a fight to keep the blinds this way with my wife tonight, thanks to your video.
And what's funny, is that she found the video in hopes of proving me wrong!
THANKS JOE!!
@28SNaKeS me too!!! We finally won this! My current girlfriend found this video as well. I was baffled that she could think that people couldn't see us in the bathroom. But now she understands. Joe truly knows!

I still remember that night, it was a nice little win for me hahahha
The video still made me laugh, it was exactly how I was trying to explain to her myself.
We are no longer together, though, and I wonder what my current girlfriend’s view on blinds is lol
PS
I wonder if I should blame Joe for the divorce HAHAHA
Great video!

Even if this video has been stretched out for an unneccesary amount of time, I still watched it from start to end without skipping forward. You got something special, man.
Glad to hear you watched the whole video. You get a gold star for sure! Hey do you have a roku tv? I have a roku tv channel called DIY for Beginners so you can watch me on the big screen too!
@@VideoJoeKnows aaaaaa, my household doesn’t use television anymore. Sorry, brother.
All you have to do is close the blinds all the way! he left them opened just a little. You could so easily go out and look through your window to see if you can see in..! The blinds are designed to close both ways for different reasons. When you are sitting right in front of the window and the sun light is on you just turn the blinds up a little this will block out the sun and still let the light in. Some blinds are designed with a pattern when you close them up you can't see the pattern. Have a nice day everyone.
Really helpful
Yes you would be surprised how many viewers aren't aware of this one fact. Thanks for stopping by!
I have been testing my blinds settings by looking at people in the eyes and see if they look back, got a few stares on first try so i thought hmm i need more information, so thx for this vid Joe!
Yes you're welcome. Especially when you have the lights on at night & they can see you but you can't see them if you have the blinds tilted the wrong way. Now you know...!
I had no idea, but thanks to you I do now! I've been using mini blinds for 8 months now, and I am in a town house surrounded by other town homes and now I'm convinced my neighbours have been seeing everything! Lessoned learned too late! SMH
Thanks Joe, my dad taught me this, but you are correct, I am completely shocked to see how many people do not have their blinds set properly.
Thank you!

Thanks so much Joe! I researched this today and was so happy you made this video! My neighbor was doing some peeping which made it necessary to purchase blinds for my first floor. I adjusted them as you instructed. At night you can see light between the louvers, but you can't look in HOORAY!
You're absolutely right, I can never see inside my neighbor's homes because they always turn the blind facing up, it's annoying.
Well it's their fault for not tilting their miniblinds the correct way so I would think the fault is their own....wouldn't you say? I guess they didn't watch my video!!
Thank you for this! My fiance and I are constantly arguing about this. My way for living on the first floor was correct. If he tries to change them back I'm going to show him this video. 😁
Haha....hey all you have to do is turn your lights on after dark then go outside to see if you can see in & if you can then turn the blinds the other way.....
Thank you for this video man it taught me a lot I never knew this at all I always thought it was a good idea to always have my blinds up now I understand and thank you for caring and showing us, wish there was more teachers like you because you would make life easier and now I can pass this info to anyone know, appreciate the video and who cares how long the video was I watched every second of it brother, have a blessed day

Thank you Joe! I live on the second floor and I always felt like people could see me at night.. This video helped clarify everything! Again, thanks!

I thought I was going crazy last night trying to figure out which way would be effective for a first floor apartment. And this video did the trick!
@@LarryGoggins000 You mean you really don't want people watching you prance around after dark anymore?! Nuts! Thanks for continuing to watch my videos. Much appreciated!
Thank you for this. Recently I was hang out in my room, which is on the 2nd floor, at night and I heard someone say "i see you" from outside. I realized my blinds were turned wrong way. So thank you!!
Ha when they said "I see you" did it freak you out?" Hope you were dressed. Thanks for stopping by. Now you know!
Just remember to tilt the blinds & at night, with your lights on, go outside & look in from the street, & make sure you have them tilted the proper direction. Thanks for commenting! Joe :0
A blind installer told me this for the day time. If you are wanting to keep the heat out in the summer then turn the slats down because heat rises up and off the hot window glass. The light still comes through somewhat but light is not hot. In the winter the cold falls down and so keep the slats turned up so the cold cannot fall down through the slats.
Gerry Gray Ha! It's amazing a blind guy told you this..! I could see his advice working for you in the day light hours but not necessarily at night for the visual effects! Thanks for your message.
Go outside at night, with the lights on, & make your best determination which way they should live. Joe :0
Thank you
If you can see them then they can see you during the day so tilt blinds so you can't see them then at night leave the blinds same way...

Glad you got THAT settled. Thanks for letting VideoJoe"know"!!!! :0
A new design is needed for 2nd floors and above..
i have wooed blinds, the bottom slats should have some kind of netting attached inbetween for the day, and just close them at night 😂
Oh cool. Nice type of blind then.....just a bit different than these. Thanks for letting me know.!
Thank you...Just now been struggling to close it at the office for like 30 minutes OMG...Thank you you a life saver
Welp, thanks to this guy, I’ll now forever be anxious about people standing on chairs, watching me through the windows.
You're welcome...?!! At least now you know what you are up against & the nice view people have when you don't have your blinds tilted the right way at night....ok then.
Him mentioning that if you can see out, they can see in, is the best reminder. So I have been doing my horizontal blinds correctly, but not my vertical ones (tested by looking out... obviously for horizontal onw side or the other will be easier to see in, so you'd just position it based on where they are compared to the part of room you want to block from view).
2021 here, just randomly thought about it, and it has been buggin me, and now I am here xD

Can you do another video from the outside day amd night to show the visibility in various positions please?
Sorry this video was made many many years ago but I can tell you when it gets dark, turn your lights on & then walk down to the ground floor & look back up & see what you can see. If you can see in then tilt the blinds the other way. Thanks for stopping by!
Dear Joe I am from Pakistan and that video is really very helpful as a house is constructed right behind my house and the guys sneak inside my house so not I am installing the blinds which are the modesty protectors in various ways. Thanks again.

3:10 Bi-polar VideoJoeKnows, admits he laughs and then immediately gets a desire to strangle people when he can see straight up inside their windows, from the first floor to their second floor.
Ha! Not sure about bi-polar as I've never heard that one before, but it really cracks me up when I see miniblinds tilted the wrong way & the people don't even know the people down below can see everything...!
Thank you sir. One day i hope people will observe your greatness. your are an inspiration. now that I know how to do this, you have helped change the world.

THANK YOU! I've been doing it wrong all this time. 1st time living on the 2nd floor of an apartment building
I have an issue, bedroom 2nd floor, if I turn them down towards me, my neighbours across the road get full view in to my room...
If I turn them down so I can see outside who's knocking the door, my neighbours can't see but whoever is knocking the door can see me.
I think I prefer crochet nets?
Yes I guess the net will work for you. But like I was saying if at night you turn the lights on then go outside to see if you can see in & if so then tilt the blinds the other way then go back outside to see what you can see....as a thought for you.
Just to let you know...2016 post must let you know your posts are timeless. Thanks again!
made me very confident that this video said exactly what i already thought. thank you joe!!
Thanks! All I can say is tilt them the way you think then when it's dark, go outside & look up (when lights are on) at your place & you will know once & for all. It's amazing to me how many people don't know this...!
Hey thanks Joe! I was just wondering about this for my blinds and i'm glad there was an answer right a way.
So awesome to hear you now have them tilted the right way. If you want to make sure then tonight have your lights turned in then walk down outside & look up to see what you see. If you see anything then turn the other way & check again! Thanks for stopping by!
Thanks. On the second floor and had to hop up and turn my blinds the right way lol. I’ve been in my apt for 6 years so I hate to know how many times I’ve been exposed lol.
Thank you so much. I just moved into my own place and had no idea I witch way to turn my blinds being on an upper level.
Thanks, I just moved into apartment on 3rd fl. with 2 story house across the way. Since my apartment is a little higher I “twizzled” up. Neighbors are far enough that they can’t see in and I get light and look at the trees when I’m riding my stationary bike. Don’t wanna let the neighbors see me sweat haha! 🙏🏽😊
Yes! twizzle up should be the right way. Here's the other thing...if you twizzle the wrong way & if you can see them...then they can see you at night when you have your lights on. Sweat on!
Just to clarify..
So if you're on the first floor .. blinds should be pointing up..
If you're on the second floor or higher.. blinds should point down
Right?
Dee Murray yes from the point of view of being on the inside of the window
@@joedude967 Down is when the smooth sides face's to the inside of the home, up is when the non smooth side faces insider the home
I’m in the 2nd floor & I’ve been pointing ☝️ cause I thought it would be better than face down 😖
Yes I would say you're right. You can also go downstairs when it's dark outside & have your lights on off course then look up & if you see anything then tilt the other way...just to make sure.
I'm so glad it took me 23 years to learn this.
In all actuality, thank you 🙏
Oh Lord! That means our neighbors been watching my whole family naked 😂 because our bathroom blinds were facing the opposite way! 🤷🏽♀️🤦🏽♀️🧐😂😂🤦🏽♀️
OH Lord that's what it means! If you can see them then of course they can see you. Tilt those blinds the other way. Sorry neighbors!
Was here for different video. Man is exactly right. Been doing this for years. I use light blocking curtains as well on first floor. Nothing more annoying than sunset ray beam on a TV.
Is anyone else’s neighbors obsessed with them for no damn reason
Ha! You'd be surprised since when you have lights on at night & the blinds tilted the wrong direction you can't help but notice what people are doing up there...
Actually I obsess over this and I specifically came to see what the best way would be for my place (3rd option) so good community service there!
+Rea84 Ha! Once you decide which way you think you need to do it then turn your lights on at night & walk outside to see if you can see in. If you can then twizzle the blinds the other way & walk outside again & take another look see. Thanks for your message! Joe :0
I have a habit to leave my kitchen window totally open, I have those white lacy nice curtains, and like cooking and see what's outside during the day and night. People sees that I spend a lot time in the kitchen on the counter of the sink. My apt is on the ground, and there is pathway where the neighbors come and go to their apts either on the ground on 2nd floor that faces my window. During the day, they can't see me even if the light is on in my kitchen, but at night, they see. Does this blind will help, but I still want to see what's outside. Again the neighbors window and doors are across my window and door facing to each other, if they leave their window open at night, I see from my kitchen inside or if I am outside.
All I can say is if you tilt your blinds & if you can see them then they can see you....especially at night with your lights on.
What should i do for a 2nd floor room blinds? Should i turn the blinds up or down? I dont have time to watch this entire video
Well at night turn your lights on then walk down to the street then look up. If you can see into your room then turn your blinds the other way.....
I always twizzled up because it lets in less light. Another thing about the second floor blinds twizzled down is at night there is not as much light coming in. The street lights might make enough on the floor to find your way to the bathroom.
Boy. 75 people are peeping Tom!
Joe, thank you so much for this great and informative video. It's really helpful as I just moved into a second floor condo with all windows installed with mini-blinds. Good find to me!
YAY For you !! I have always fought with my family about the way to turn the blinds UP , we lived on a single bottom floor home.... LOL Now I live in a 2 story home and see my way was sooo wrong for a the 2nd floor! ..I've Been here a yr now and left my light on in my bedroom the other night and when I left the house OMG I could see all in my bedroom !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! HOLY COW LOL....Warm Hugs from NC
Amazing huh! Here all this time you thought you were safely secured in your room at night. Glad you got a chance to watch this video. Thanks for your comments! Joe :0
@relzric The back side edge of your blinds, need to be facing up at night, if on the 2nd floor. If you don't, and your lights are on at night, you might as well not have any blinds at all. Go outside at night & see what I mean. Thanks for your comments. Joe :0
Ha! If creeper is on the 3rd floor then you should tilt the inside of the blinds in the upward direction. The only issue with that is now people on the ground floor can look straight up into your place. You could shut them as tight as you can & don't just tilt them. That will be about the best you can do unless you want to put a 3 panel screen in front of whatever window you don't want him to look in to. Thanks for commenting. Joe :0
Great advice Joe!
Hopefully more videos will be coming out soon. 🙂

Next time you're at home, after dark, take a walk around your complex & see if you can't see any of your neighbors, in their town home(s). If you can see them, then they can (or use to) see you! I hate it when I'm inside & it's dark outside, that anyone can see me yet I can't see them. You magnify it at night since your lights are on....a true peep show for the unsuspecting! Depending how you have your blinds tilted...if you can see "them"..."they" can see you. Thanks for commenting! Joe :0
Thank you for this video! Going to make everybody in the house hold watch this! I tell'em & tell'em, but they alway raise the blinds without opening them up first then they get all messed up!!!
I think Joe's being paid by the second 😂

This video should have been 1-2 minutes, max. Twizzled isn’t a word. I only clicked this because couldn’t believe it. I was in for a full informational demonstration about the right/wrong way to “twizzle” my blinds. Holy sweet mother of god.... somebody has too much time on his hands (Joe)....
Good point...
Thanks...
what about the second floor apart from the street with white inexpensive accordian miniblinds? Plastic in summer - i find heat is reduced look up rather than round facing out. What is better to avoid this?
I would say round facing in...that should be the way so you can't see down too because if you can see them then they can see you, especially at night when you have your lights on.
I don't think this needed to be a 6 minute video
***** Ha! Sorry for not getting to the point sooner. I'll keep that in mind when I make my next video! Tilt the blinds one way & when it's dark outside & with your miniblinds tilted, walk outside & look back up to see what you see. Try that & you will soon figure out if someone can see you get into shower!...lol
Hey you spoke your mind at the time & that's just what came out. No problemo. It gave me a chance to respond to you.... Joe :0
I was never sure how to tilt my blinds and you have NOT spent too many minutes explaining why they should be tilted in such a matter. I appreciate all of your thoroughly detailed information and keep up the good work.
To pull your blinds down, make sure the cords are not tangled. Do not pull straight down or the blinds will not unclick to come down. You need to pull the strings out at a 45 degree angle or so, THEN pull down & this should unclick the blinds to then let them go back down. Try it & let me know if they work. If they don't, you could have something going wrong in the top track. If they are new, they should work. Joe :0
Hey thanks for checking out this safety tip. You never know. It might come in handy one night! Joe :0
Hasnt anyone thought about going outside and actually looking in to see how much can be seen?
Tilting blinds upward on the second floor is a good idea because
I know! It's amazing how many people don't know which way to turn their miniblinds when their lights are on at night. It's "eye" opening for sure...!
@saucee28 The people across from you would see you to a certain extent, depending on how far closed you have your blinds tilted down. At night, I would suggest you tilt them down all the way to the closed position then your neighbors across from you, won't be able to see in. Try to remember to do that & after 21 days, it will then become a habit. Thanks for your question. Joe :0
Before watching this video, I figured it out. When I moved into my apartment, I made sure and checked the blinds so that nobody could see into the apartment. I stood on the outside and tried to see what others might have been able to see, and then, I turned the blinds up since I'm on the 1st/only floor.
Nice job! If you are inside & if you can look down & see them then they can see you....
Thanks for the info. I always had my blind slats pointed downward from my one story house from viewing of the inside simply because I always thought they looked better. Big mistake! Your in-debt video is much appreciated.
@hotdrumchick I'm pleasantly surprised that you were doing it correct all along as most of the blinds I see, on a second floor, are twizzled the other "incorrect" way. You are good. Thanks for taking time out to send me your comments. Joe :0
Thanks for sending me your comment. Much appreciated. & thanks for checking out my channel! Joe :0
Just had these fitted in my bedroom and kitchen. This was a great video, thanks! Now I know the correct way they should tilt. Could have been soooo embarrassing otherwise!!! Lol. 😀😂
Haha yu don't know how many viewers have told me they had theirs tilted the wrong way & never knew until they found this video! Just to check yourself turn your lights on at night then walk outside & look up to see what you can see in your room. If you can see then that means to tilt them the other way. Thanks!
I would say to tilt the slats so you can see downward. Then the people from above can't see in. Same for others at eye level. Try that. Joe :0
This has been helpful. We are having trouble making the blinds go & down. They're Levelor. We got them on but we can't them to go down. There are several strings on the right, but when we tug on them it looks like they are going to come apart.
Did you ever figure out your miniblind issue? Pull the string at a 45 degree angle & that should release the miniblinds to go down. See what I mean?
Appreciated man. Thumbs up
This video is very informative 👍👌 👏
