  • As nations observed World Refugee Day on June 20, some refugees say the theme of this year’s commemorations, “Hope Away from Home: A world where refugees are always included,” was important because it promoted unity and peace within different societies.
VOA’s Jackson Mvunganyi hosted a podcast to hear more about the day.
Guests included Lual Mayen, a South Sudanese video game developer who spent 22 years in a Ugandan refugee camp, Raphael Ndabaga, a Congolese filmmaker who was in Malawi’s Dzaleka camp for over a decade and Maggy Barankitse, a Burundian humanitarian.
