Keto and fasting to treat emphysema. It is a top cause of death in the western world. What is the best diet yo reduce inflammation, trigger stem cell activation and reduce breathlessness. Does a low carb diet reduce CO2 production? Could fasting increase autophagy in the lung?

My husband gives up Keto after a month or 2 with pressure under his ribcage.

Hi Thomas, I really needed to hear this video as I am over 55 entering menopause with my menstrual cycles close to ending completely.
I am doing keto with IF but learning different things I need to do such as eating organic tofu during the last 2 weeks of my cycle.
I also eat according to my blood type as well which is Type A + so I am more fish, chicken and not as much red meat. I have had chronic inflammation and in my joints and wondering if meat, bacon and shell fish are inflammatory?

@@ThomasDeLauerOfficial At nearly 68 and fighting hot flashes day and night, I'm trying ginseng and adrenal bovine cortex nutrients to help make the difference. I've been on a Carnivoire diet. I'd love to have more diversity but I struggle to do Intermittent fasting, other than Bulletproof coffee at 8, eat at 12pm & 4-5. How could I return to keto without returning to hotflashes 24/7. I have an autoimmune A.S. arthritis, history of chronic crises response, thus exhausted adrenals, unsure re Cortisol. I'm working holisticly but avoid strenuous exercise due to hot flashes with exertion.

Slowing down has helped me. Eating less and working out harder back fired and I out on so much weight when I went into surgical menopause in 2015.
In 2017 it all changed for me. I stopped with the HIIT workouts, the beachbody workouts like Insanity and P90X, I got rid of sugar, processed foods and wheats/grains. I workout maybe 2-3 days a week for only 20-30min and I walk and mostly move. It's called NEAT...non-exercise associated thermogenesis.
Stay moving doing things you enjoy that reduce cortisol levels. Things like walking in nature, gardening, cooking, cleaning the house, mowing, etc. I dropped all of my menopausal weight and more living a low carb/keto-ish lifestyle.
Great tips Thomas. It works!! I do not take a lot of the supplements but my hormones have balanced out.
Stress reduction is just as important as non-exercise associated thermogenesis (NEAT) in menopause. Nobody told me this. I figured it out by tracking what I did and how I felt. Put the time into figuring out what works for you and makes you feel your best.

Wow, me too. Exact same. Started in 2017 at 47 because I was getting sicker, fatter and more tired while cal restricting AND working out almost daily. I started hi-cal keto, stopped working out but stayed hiking 2-3 times a month with regular yoga... I iost weight, got fat adapted. felt amazing then lowered my fat intake and I am now 54 and in amazing health.I DO supplement because I simply don't get the nutrition in light of how I am not hungry and so only eat two small meals a day.

I am getting better educated and am thrilled to know that foods I love, shrimp, oysters, poultry organ meats should be incorporated more often. I hope poultry organ meat is ok. I’m not into liver, beef or poultry. Thanks for this, it will be so helpful going forward!

Thank you for bringing this up, I'm trying to reach out to friends about keto, and some asked me if it was just a 20/30 something diet or fad.
One CZcams channel I used to subscribe to (another bodybuilder I'm sure you know who I'm talking about) totally bad mouthed keto for women who are peri or menopausal, and my gut feeling told me he had to be wrong, so I unsubbed him, I will forward this to my keto challenge friends thank you for bringing this up Thomas!

Id love a video on what should dictate how many carbs a person eats. If your blood work is fine (a1c, fasting glucose, crp, cholesterol, etc) is it really necessary?

I love this info. And shockingly I’m doing a lot of this already but still not losing any more weight at age 56. I have breast sensitivity and feel like I shouldn’t!?! I am a little bit worried about my gut health being an issue.

I appreciate this video. I am a 2 time stage 3 ovarian cancer survivor. I am in my early 40’s and had to go through surgical menopause. I have successfully done keto in the past and I am trying to get back on it for multiple reasons. I need less sugar to feed the cancer, the weight gain and decrease in energy that has accompanied the chemo and surgery is awful. I plan to try some of your suggestions. I do have a question for you though. When going through what I have you have to avoid estrogen as much as possible and I am also on an estrogen blocker as well as a PARP inhibitor. I wonder if the black kohosh will interfere with these. I will ask my oncologist to be sure but I thought you may have spoken to someone like me before. I also have had hypothyroidism since I was 19. Unfortunately have a few strikes against me. However I want to be healthy again and I am hoping this will help my road to recovery. Any suggestions from you would be appreciated!

I am 51 and I just finished radiation. They discovered precancerous cells (estrogen feeding) and did a lumpectomy and 2 months of radiation. I am on the ketogenic diet but do worry about eating food that will elevate my estrogen. I am also on tamoxifen to reduce estrogen. I enjoyed this and wish I could find a clear cut way to navigate this stage of life with estrogen and menopause.

Hi, is Keto safe for nursing moms? I was on Keto prior to my pregnancy and used your videos as a guide. I'm currently breastfeeding and wanted to start Keto. Would you recommend this?

Thank you! It's very difficult for some of us... Mine started early on, too. Difficulty sleeping has the the bane of my existence since, i think. Finally tried some glycine and finally-thank You Lord! But i think it's knocking me out of ketosis😪. First thing I'm .2-.4 usually even when my carbs are very, very low if any. Help!

Um, 46 is not old. At that age I was getting asked out alot still. When I reached fifty I broadcast my age. By the time I was sixty I still continued. I am over sixty and thank God I am left alone. So girl you're still quite young.
