    Anthrax (and Helloween) were my first Metal bands in '88 when I was in fifth grade. Damn, I feel so old saying that. LOL Fuck it. It's all good. Metal (and plenty of other styles of music as time went on) is what makes life worth living. I'm looking forward to part two.

      @@JadeDude1973 Well, back then, it was pretty common progression. I was reading magazines like Circus and Hit Parader once I got into Glam Rock in '86. Eventually, I discovered AC/DC due to the film, "Maximum Overdrive". That was a big turning point.

    Excellent show guys. I can't believe that Scott omitted the fact that British Steel came out in 1980....Robb even wrongly agreed with him that Screaming For Vengeance came out in 1981...WTF?😅
    Robb.....how the hell did you think that Priest were still in their prog/folky gear in 1979?
    Scott....the album after KISS solo releases was Dynasty not Creatures.
    Apart from that....all good. Bring on part 2. 🤘

    Robb, what an incredible interview. A concise, fun, informative chat between two legends pretty much encapsulating the history of Anthrax from the man who would know more about Anthrax than anyone else! Kudos man! Cannot wait for part 2! Had my doubts about the podcast initially, but this is easily my fave Metal based 'cast out there right now! Well done!

    I can't say that I care much for everything Scott has put out over the years, but I always liked him. I finally saw Anthrax live in 2019, and Scott has easily one of the tightest right hands in Thrash. He makes it look so effortless. Can't wait for part 2

    Scott said they haven't played Time since 1991. They have, and it's on their live album when they reunited with Joey and Dan.

      So glad I got to see Anthrax with Joey and Dan in October 2005 when they opened for Judas Priest. Dan didn't stay in the band long after they reunited so it was really cool.

    I had gone to the show that was supposed to be with Belladonna and Bush in 2000 found out day of show it was moved from The Roxy to Bowery Ballroom so had to get downtown a half hour before showtime and Joey backed out. Got to drink with Frank, Charlie and Paul Crook and they signed the Return of the Killer A’s card for me Scott and John were hidden in the crowd lol

    I know I'll probably be crucified for this opinion but I personally prefer the re-done versions of some of the classics they did with John Bush on vocals on the Greater of Two Evils album...😨

      When Bush was in there they got a bit heavier in my opinion and he is a phenomenal vocalist in his own right adding a bit more grit to the song. Many consider his era the dark days because they loved Joey. I love both of their stuff. Very underrated in Johns time after White Noise. I though Stomp 442 was great

    That hilarious about the Cities band. I still have the album. AJ Pero (Twisted Sister) played drums for them. I absolutely love all these old stories. Although mine was playing in local bands in my area the stories are familiar when it comes to all of the bands. Scorps, Maiden, Priest, Riot, etc etc. This channel rules Rob! Thank you!!!🤘

    I went to see anthrax in 1987 and 1988 and they were fucking amazing!! The among the living tour and state of euphoria.....at the Colston Hall in Bristol England, testament supported in '87 I can't remember who it was for the other gig, and testament were fucking on it also!!! Alex skolnick was shit hot then, they were only on their first album!! Brilliant gigs guys!! Thank you so much!!! The 80's were the best times ever for metal in my opinion......such a fertile era....different styles, just so fucking good!!!!!!!

    AWESOME . Being born in 1969 and after my Kiss then Sex Pistols days being totally engulfed in the early thrash scene (european style) , i totally relate to everything being said here . The fights with Punks/Skinheads, waiting for those demos in the mail, going to gigs , endlessly looking for that killler guitar tone , being total outcasts, bullet belts , those were the days man ! And i was lucky enough to live it . Shame you didn't ask Scott about Trust and their version of "antisocial" as , being French , that band was absolutely crucial in my metal education .

    Adding to the Nuclear Blast bands - The Night Flight Orchestra! This, if ye dont know is a band consisting of members of Soilwork and others, that pay amazing homage to classic 70s/80s radio rock. Foreigner, Survivor, and hellyeah, even some Abba size choruses in there. Insanely catchy songs that deserve mega play on everyones stereo!

    What a great chat! Especially poignant hearing about Cliff Burton. I wonder which R.E.M. album he actually tried to hype to Scott (it couldn't have been Green, because that came out in 1988). I remember where I was when I heard Cliff died. I can't imagine processing that loss at close range.

    Growing up in Anthrax backyard, LI/Queens/NYC/Brooklyn one of my most memorable Anthrax shows was at The Roseland during the Jon Bush era, with Fight (Halford). The show was crazy as shit, when Anthrax broke into Indians, the pit erupted. WarDance! ..memories..

      That, would be amazing! Id love to hear Kirk chat about the early Bay Area days, horror movies, and things like Metallica's career throughout the years. Id love to hear a conversation about Kirks feelings about Metallica and his own life in the mid 90s, in relation to how the metal media perceived Machine Head themselves as the nxt big thing. Kirk is a funny guy aswell, Im certain it would be a highly entertaining podcast!

    Scott Ian is a great fuckin dude. I had him on my show and he stayed and chatted after the interview was finished. Then Jon (other Anthrax guitarist) told us Philthy from Motörhead and just died. It was a gutting end to a great interview. It was one of my favourites though.

    Legend, S.O.D is king of heavy I'm a little younger so it was like 1990 in sixth grade blew my top off and I was already into lots of hardcore discharge gbh subhumans plus all the California hardcore punk. Plus that newer Mr. Bungle crazy heavy

    These podcasts help me get through the working day. Robb, you should approach James 'Metal' Monteith of TesseracT as a future guest. Machine Head were THE metal band of the time growing up in England, and I know James is a huge fan of Machine Head past and present. We all grew up on a diet of Burn My Eyes and The Burning Red and punched the air in delight when you announced your imperious return with Through the Ashes of Empires and The Blackening. Fuck, yeah!

    Ive followed Anthrax since 88. 7th grade. Ive heard shit about Scott being a put off and I have to tell you, I feel like I know him and totally get his ass. I don't think Ive seen anybody in thrash with a right hand like he has and it's a no fucking brainer for him to do that Bungle album. Bungle is BIG shit in my world but it makes sense. Daves toms on that album was fuuuuuckin stooopid good and Scotts tone matched it to a T. Nobody better for the part. Patton fuggin hit it on the head again.
