    I know I don't say Fallkniven correctly. Please don't feel the need to tell me this in the comments. I know its Fell-Ka-Nee-Ven. But it just doesn't happen when I talk.

      +Stealthinator139 me too, but a legion of apparent experts in swedish pronounciation pummeled the other into me after my last videos about the brand 😆

      Stealthinator139 ,,, hi, FYI, it's pronounced FELKNEEVEN..,,

    • @TheKimjoh560
      @TheKimjoh560 Před 7 lety

      Its not actually. Its [Felk-neeven] The K isnt silent. - I'm swedish. It translates to "The folding knife". Sorry, I had to ;)

      Your pronouncing it the right(est) way I would say. You're just doing it with an a insted of swedish ä, (witch is the end sound of a sheeps call, bäää. ;)

    Everytime you mention/show the tormek I'm reminded of the homemade water cooled bench grinder my grandfather put together. He scavenged some parts to have more precise control over the rotation speed of the stone and rigged up a continuous flow of water using the reservoir and sprayer for windshield wiper fluid out of a car.

    Reminds me of Ikea. Cheap-looking but expensive because we have a cool Scandinavian sounding name.

      Fällkniven is known in Scandinavia as a premium knifemaker, they make knives for certain branches of the Swedish Armed Forces, and they have been tried and tested throughout the years by us up here in Sweden. Most of us basically grew up outdoors. Camping (not in an RV, like certain other nations), fishing, hiking, bushcrafting and stuff like that. We know what's good and what's not, because we really put our gear to the test. Fancy blade shapes or damascus steel and some spacecraft materials in the handle does not make a knife good, quality steel and good rugged and durable design are the base ingredients of a good knife. And this is a good knife.

    That factory edge seems unusual. I have three Fallkniven knives and they all arrived scalpel sharp. I edc a TK4 folder in 3G. I was underwhelmed when it first arrived but it has grown on me. An understated sheeple friendly little blade.

      Superimposing oh yeah as you probably notice from my review history I'm a big Fallkniven fan myself. This is the first one I have had a rocky start with too

    I've four different Fällkniven folders, all had the detente ball grittiness mentioned in the video. Oiling that area and cleaning it sorted the problem. I like the knives and they are well made, but at their price there should not be that problem.

  • @zacharylonjers9366
    @zacharylonjers9366 Před 5 lety

    How exactly did you clean the detent ball tract? Just bought the same knife and it has that same gritty noise/feeling you described.

    • @CedricAda
      @CedricAda  Před 5 lety

      just blasting it with wd40 and high pressure water then wd40 again, if i remember correctly

    Its a pretty cool knife and I sort of want it... but 2 hand operation takes away alot from an EDC knife I think.

    Another dull and unrefined knife from Fallkniven! I have the S1 Pro the F1 and the pxl! They all came dull! And can you believe they use a Teflon washer in they're $300 pxl! They need to listen to their customers because we are onto them. Blade HQ actually sells the PC series knife like this one and they advertise it as a Hollow Grind! Can you imagine that! A Hollow Grind on a laminated blade! Anyways thanks for the reviews that you do Pete! You work very hard to get these reviews out along with testing them!

      @zadotterazo690 Před 5 lety +1

      KBF why does it matter if it came sharp? Its not like that factory edge will last forever. I think they don’t use metal washers because they are meant for cold snowy/wet environments.

    • @esp9sram
      @esp9sram Před 5 lety +1

      I appreciate and respect your logic! The point I am trying to make is would you expect a brand new car on delivery to be filthy? Just because of the fact you will wash it someday. I'm just saying. Many people work very hard to save the money to buy such a knife and I'm sure including yourself! But when you purchase a 300 400 dollar knife you expect it to be razor sharp regardless of someone's sharpening abilities.
      It's true fallkniven designs there knives taking the cold weather into consideration! That's why all their fixed blade Knives have small handles. They believe most people will be using them with winter gloves! As far as the Teflon washers they use they do hold up in the cold weather without becoming brittle! I am not sure if a bronze washer would be affected by these conditions. I have just heard many others complain about this!

      That's the darndest thing. I have a PC and F1 and they both came razor sharp...

    • @wayneholmes637
      @wayneholmes637 Před rokem

      Same here. My PC, F1 and A1 were all razor sharp from the factory. The operation of the PC was the smoothest I have ever had on a new knife.

    Good review, appreciate your honesty regarding the grind. Plastic scales, plastic washers, too much plastic for me given the inflated price.

    • @CedricAda
      @CedricAda  Před 7 lety +2

      amo757 yeah whilst I can sort appreciate a piece of premium-ish steel being the main money draw, not spending an extra 20 cents per knife on PB washers is a bit of a head scratcher

    • @TheKimjoh560
      @TheKimjoh560 Před 7 lety

      Synthetic washers are not without advantages so I doubt cost is a factor. I have the same bushings on my PXL and they've been without issues for a long time. I use some knives around the kitchen alot and I can really appreciate how they are impervious to oxidation and how well they run without anykind of lubrication.

    • @jeremiahshine
      @jeremiahshine Před 6 lety

      amo757 I've read a couple reviews that say it was "beyond scary sharp". One guy said it was "molecularly maxed-out"! Luck of the draw, I guess.

    so in sumation, its a $30 dollar knife with decent steel - that sells for over a hundred bucks?
    well, atleast you bit the bullet and not me 😫
