- Why would I leave the PHILIPPINES? I do not have a crystal ball but there are possible issues that would force me to leave the Philippines at some point in the future. I do not foresee any compelling reasons at this time and I feel the Philippines is a very good fit for me in many ways.

You are a very well grounded person Rod. It was a pleasure to meet you in person even though it was at one of the most unlikely places I would have expected in the Philippines, the ice skating rink! Always a pleasure watching you live the dream. Thumbs up!
Many thanks Don. I enjoyed meeting you and your family also.
10 months I will be there, look forward to meeting you!
Cool! Safe travels Brian.
There may be hundreds of Philippine vloggers, but there is only one Amazing Philippines. Always enjoy your videos.
Thanks Tom. Enjoy some rest in TX before your next trip.
Thanks for the video!
Thanks James.
Good job Rod.
Good video Rod. I'm comfortable and I won't leave Camarines Sur long term. Business does keep calling me back to the USA, or tax pilgrimage. It was a little rougher when there were just Robinson'r mall and the competing SM Mall but over the last 7 years we got a Vista Mall, S&R Landers, Domino pizza. I live 30 minutes drive from the small airport and Manila is a 45 minute flight. We usually drive if we visit Manila and we often buy a car to bring back because we are in the Biggest market in the country with better prices and selection. Some people just aren't a good fit for the Philippines. You can live cheap and if you are creative, cheap and physically comfortable. Mentally comfortable is a different story. Some foreigners Are desperate to talk to other foreigners. While I'm always glad to be able to pass on a tip or some information, I don't spend a lot of time talking to them because they left home but brought all their problems with them and the change of scenery wasn't enough for them. I think there is probably a place for everyone in the Philippines but some comfort levels will require quite a high budget.
Very good points Robert. We all have different needs and it is nice to see more "convenience" like SnR in more areas.
Hey Rod, Mike here. Nice video and I can relate with family not having much time for you. I’m looking forward to seeing Mactan Island and Cebu city just to take a ride around town. 👍🏽
Thanks 👍Mike.
always the calm, cool and collective Rod!
I am an angry old man in my seventies. I do not like the stupid around me. But if I was in the US I would be really pissed. Life in the Philippines is a near retro of the US when I was growing up.
I agree, much more freedom here.
Yeah Rod, you are one of the OG Vloggers.
Thanks Rich.
By far the 🇵🇭 to me is more relaxing than living in the 🇺🇸. I spend several months of the year in the 🇵🇭 stress free. I’m fully retired but I own several rental properties in the USA so I return to check on them. I’m looking for another option for my properties so I can stay in the 🇵🇭. Thanks for sharing ✌🏾!
Thanks Skip.
Don't leave us, Rod.
I am happy here Brent.
You went past Mactan Memorial Garden.;)
I love the Philippines. As long as I feel safe this will be home for me.
Great Info Rod!!😎👍
Thanks Ralf.
Life is not that great in the US unless you're young and have a good job in order to save money for your retirement. For your age, you're better off in the Philippines.
You had better not leave Rod, who's going to give me cheek when i come back, if you're not there, LoL. Btw, don't take any notice of that NZ guy when he tries to hurt your feelings, LoL.
LOL! I am pretty content here Bob.
War in the South China sea is one good reason young Rodney. The Philippines is right in the middle of a potential conflict.
Hahaha 😂for YEAR'S...SAME OLD SHIT.😅
I will do a video about this soon.
@@AmazingPhilippines1look forward to that video Rodney. Remember, the airlines will avoid the Philippines the moment any action looks imminent.
@AmazingPhillipines1 Yes please do share with us your thoughts on this subject! Thank you for your wonderful videos all these years! I'm getting closer to my ducks in a row to making the move! Been dealing with just life and avoiding death! I live next to, 50 feet from a homeless encampment of 50! It's a very ugly and dangerous situation with high crime yet my house has never been more valuable price wise! Fire zone in southern CA yet camp fires means that I cannot run my evaporative cooler during the night due to external smoke! Police will not respond to a call of women screaming or even take a report of theft! Anyway yes conflict is a subject that I'd be interested in the escape plan if China does come in?
Sincerely,
Bmeister
You don't have to be a coward and run, stay and be part of the resistance.
The way I recall it, there were scores or hundreds of vloggers in 2016. Some of the best are gone now. Today, there are thousands.
Interesting. I was only aware of 3-4 vloggers in 2016.
All you have to do is clear your history and it resets what they send you. Cheers!
My interests are quite varied so I do my own searches for new videos also.
When renewing your drivers license in the states. Do you use a family members address, or do you tell them you live outside the US.
Delaware license are good for 8 years. Mine is due for renewal in 2 years.
I think that is one of the greeter downfalls of being an expat is the visa issue and also keeping your drivers license and passport current.
I use a daughters address Joe.
If your US license expires I think they would make you turn in your Philippines license and take the written test, not a huge deal to me. I still don't do it because I'm lazy and a careful driver.
Yeah , there are plenty of other bloggers, Gio in the Philippines, life beyond the sea, JJ the lonely bull , it’s me . All of them are expats living in the Philippines, one of them ( life beyond the sea) posted a video saying that immigration is cracking down on tourist visas, asking questions that before they didn’t really ask . Is this your experience, because I left a comment saying that I would use JRC to assist me with the visa process and he said that it wouldn’t matter?
Yes, those vlogs and a dozen or more that I had never heard of, many with quite a few followers. I know Thailand is getting more strict with tourist visas but I have not head that about the PH yet.
Ya but a lot are really boring I don't make it through the video or they make me so mad I'm yelling at my phone,
Rod, are you back riding the motorbike, or is riding past history for you ?
Sold the bike Wayne. I will just rent if I need one for the time being.
@@AmazingPhilippines1 Good move. We are not young anymore and do not heal fast.
You are right Rod, better they visit you and discover the country.
"Send me the ticket" Lol! Take care! 🙋♂
Thanks Shineamen. I would like to take that flight around the French Alps that you are so lucky to experience. Stay safe there in Paris.
@@AmazingPhilippines1 Thank you for your time dear Rod. Yes, It is really exciting, maybe even more at snow time. Ingat din!🙋♂
Have a great day.
Thanks. You also Manuel.
So you can live Better...😮
Rod, next time you renew your visa, you are going to be asked by immigration are you married? If not, why? Also, how do you think you can just take a filipina gf out of the country? It's not so simple, there's changes are a coming!
One thing is certain Charley, and that is change will happen over time.
@AmazingPhilippines1 Rod, the change is happening NOW for anyone residing in PH on a tourist visa for 12 months. Renewal can be denied without notice if the criteria of the BI officer are not met. (This is a new directive of the president) Might be a good time to get your gf an engagement ring! Else invest in an SRRV🤔
I was asked if I have a GF years ago and I asked the Immigration lady if she wanted the position.
@robertkubrick3738 yeah, me too, but things have changed!
There's always change things don't always stay the same.
A lot of channel's paint a different picture of the Philippines 🇵🇭 (not you rod)
The country has issues the same as any other country.
Grown men have to learn, don't bleave everything you here in a video visit the country a new of times find things out for yourself.
A example of what im saying is look at how many foreigner's move to Dumaguete its because there's so many channels about the city personally i didn't find the place to be anything special,
There's no a lot to do also i wouldn't recommend Dumaguete for single guys there's so many foreigner's live there also guys out and in to the city its not the best place for dating.
Good points.
Reekay mentioned that those using the tourist visas and who have stayed more than one year are put on a list and will be interviewed and their status scrutinized much more closely.
This is a new roll out and online extensions are no longer possible.
Apparently, travel agencies inform their customers now that they need to have in person interviews for those staying more than a year.
And the big one...any subjective suspicion by the interviewer can be used as a grounds for denial.
Have you heard about this one?
I have heard rumblings about a few things Johnny but I have not seen any official notices on this.
Had to return to the USA as my house got hit by reparations and loosing for a fraction of real estate value. Be aware single divorced men without dependents and living alone you are a target for these corrupt thieves. Staying in hotel now. My only regret is my sister lives alone and no moral support as her passed 6 years ago and with 2 adult lazy children with children she supports and free baby setter. I have no desire to move my girlfriend to the US. I very committed to her. Her parents live 2 hours out of Cebu City.
The interviewer / immigration officer has the say at point of entry whether you will proceed or not. If they don't like something you said or, as you say, are suspicious about your reasons for staying on a tourist visa, you will be denied entry. All you can do is try again next time, providing you have not been blacklisted. On my last entry to The Philippines, a couple of months ago, I was stopped and asked a lot of questions, as I was only away for 2 months having been there for 3 months before. The IO was quite aggressive on her questioning. I remained calm and got through, but they do not seem to like someone using tourist visa's repeatedly in short spaces of time.
It's true.
If Reekay is on a list there's a reason for that and most people won't be on the same list.
U B SAFE LIVING
Thanks George.
Rod, the tension between China and the Philippines is causing people to move. China wants to take over the Philippines someday. This is a risk that people don't want to deal with.
I will do a video about this soon.
not in our lifetime
Not to worry we will only give up Luzon to China we already made a deal, China only want Luzon.
I am fed up with the PI, braking dogs and loud Karaoke drive me crazy, can't get any sleep. I am looking to go to another country, I am tied of being accused of being rich and being charged the skin tax, pure racism
I don't have those problems but I don't live in a tourist area. My house is on a Cul de sac, no traffic, no kareoke. Because I'm not in a tourist area, I don't get skin taxed, in fact it's harder for me to wave down a trike because they are shy with foreigners. If I need something from a wet market, I send my helper to haggle. If I'm grocery shopping, I do it in SM, Robinson's or other grocery store where prices are posted. I got the same incentive and discount as a Filipino when I bought a new car. Maybe you are just in the wrong place. Good luck wherever you settle.
@@robertkubrick3738 Yes I am in the wrong place, but this is where my wife's family live.
Toxic people.
