The Buffalo Sabres got screwed in 1985-86 cause they had 80 points but were in last out of 5 teams. Also the NJ Devils came in 6th place in the division but still had more points tha. Vancouver and Toronto

Only reason why Edmonton was so dominant in the 80s is bc of an allstar roster it seemed like the NHL really favored the oilers at that time compared to the other
teams from the WHA that merged lol

You missed the 1990-91 Minnesota North Stars who were the lowest seeded team in that year’s playoffs despite the fact that at one point mid season, hardly anyone was willing to attend home games at the Met Center and there were rumors that they would relocate to San Jose, but Howard Baldwin, Morris Belzberg and Norm Green saved them so that the Gunds could get the San Jose Sharks. Once the regular season ended, the North Stars squeaked into the playoffs as the four seed in the Norris Division, and they proceeded to defeat Chicago, Detroit and Edmonton before running into Mario Lemieux and the Pittsburgh Penguins in the Stanley Cup Finals.
