All known HS, NCAA, NBA Career FGM footage. I counted that only about 2.4% of his total career field goals exists on film. If you take his FGM per-game averages, this equates to approximately 29 random games worth of field goals (though many more games than that are represented here, in smaller incomplete pieces, as many sources are documentary clips that only show a few baskets from a given game).
As a result of the documentary source material rather than the more ideal game broadcast footage not all of the plays contain enough footage to reveal the entire play unfold. Sometimes the entry pass, or even the initial move is missing leaving only the finish, but I've done my best to reveal as much of the plays as possible and categorize them accordingly.

+WIlt Chamberlain Archive ive been subscribed to your channel for awhile now. Just wanted to say that I appreciate you uploading videos like these. Its really helped me learn alot about that era of basketball. I doubt youll respond but I always wanted to ask you how do you think a Prime Wilt would fare today? In my opinion he would Avg aroung 30 ppg, 15 rpg, 4apg, and a couple blocks
no no if he was here today he would have done what he normally did. 20-80 points 15-30 rebounds 8-15 assist 10-25 block shots 8-15 steels. WHO would stop him? Did you watch the film? Shaq looked really small next to him. Shaq looked fat and even at almost 50 Wilt look buff. He made Patric Eugin look small too. Both those guys are known to be supper big. Wilt made EVERY one look small. That is the mistake to many people make. Wilt has a 70 inch chest. He could bench over 500 lbs look at the video with Arnold Schwarzenegger. He was embarrassed to lift with Wilt and Arnold is 6'6". Yes and he was fast!!! College he was Kansas's 100 yard sprinter. 9.8 seconds that sound slow?? He was their high jumper and long jump really. He was more agile then Jordon. There is no way to compare him to any other player. It is just not fair. What other player has had a penta double? He did it all the time when he was young and still scored 70 points and got 30 rebounds for the night. Magic getting a triple double was a really big night. quad or penta double NO ONE else has ever done that. You have not really looked at this Demi God.
Problem with todays guys they have no clue how good Wilt was. If he was playing today he could average 70/30. The all time leader in block shots? It was Wilt or Russell. Remember that wasn't stat back then. Todays NBA is nothing more than jacking up 3s. And if your team makes more that night you win. If not you loose. Worse thing they ever did was making the 3 point shot. Dribble around and when the shot clock reaches 1 second jack it up. It's horrible basketball to watch. It takes zero skill to jack up 3s. You watch a skilled post player it's amazing. I'd love Wilt and LeSoft go at each other. They say LeOverrated is strong Wilt would have him crying to his Mommy is 2 minutes. Wilt would break him in 2. NO one was more gifted as a basketball player than Wilt. And it's not even close in over all skill.
Larry Lindgren I agree that most NBA fans today don't understand how good Wilt was in his heydey. He's in my mind the most disrespected player in league history. A close second is the guy you call "LeSoft" and "LeOverrated." Was trashing him really that neccesary? He's an all-time great in his own right. And probably is the only one close to young Wilt in terms of raw athletic ability. We haven't seen that combo of size speed, strength and floor vision in decades. Not saying you have to be his biggest fan, but calling him overrated was a bit much
good points. and remember too that there were only 10 or 12 teams in the league. So Wilt was playing against only the best players night in and night out & when you play a team multiple times in the same season they learn your tendancies , figure out ways to slow you down , make adjustments, there was no answer for Wilt. He torched teams night after night If they would have had ESPN when Wilt was a young player in the league, people could appreciate what he was to doing. Nobody will ever come close to dominating the way Wilt Chamberlain did. 50.4 ppg in a season 100 pts in a game he had another game of 78pts.43 rbs. 55 rebounds in a game against Bill Russell He led the league in assist. the only center to ever do so & that was not his highest total I think averaged 7.6 or 7.8 he had one year where he was over 8 per game. How many points would/could he have scored had he not adapted his game. Blocked shots were not a stat for most of Wilt's career however one night against the Pistons unofficially he had 26 The man was bench pressing 500 pounds think about it. He ran a 4.4 40 yard dash and the 880 in under 2 min. threw the shotput over 50 ft. and high jumped 6'6" Played a year with the Globetrotters showing his agility and ball handling skills. He was arguably the greates athelete of the 20th century. No question in my mind Wilt was the GOAT

I've said the same thing about Michael. Until you've actually seen him play, you don't understand how good he was. Wilt was just unstoppable though... The top 5 under him could do what he does, but not whenever they want like Wilt could.

Jordan, for example, admitted in an interview that was either late in his career or after he retired that he wasn't entirely comfortable with calling himself the greatest because he never played Oscar and West. It's the only time I heard him admit to that but it does show that yes, he was aware.

I'm 65 now, and grew up watching the Big Dipper. He and Russell were on nearly every Sunday. I consider myself privileged to have seen the greatest basketball player in the history of the game in his prime. Haven't seen anyone that even comes close since.

The few clips available here don't tell the story; he makes it look so easy they just assume his opposition was lousy. A great player can make a good player look lousy. A once in a lifetime player can make anyone look lousy. Wilt was a once in a lifetime player. I remember sitting behind the basket for a game when he was with the 76s playing the old Cincinnati Royals. This would have been around 1966. Wayne Embry was the Royals center; 280 pounds of muscle. Embry would play behind Chamberlain and try to push him away from the hoop, leaning on Chamberlain with all his weight. At one point Wilt made a move sorta like a guy adjusting his shirt cuff, and Embry bounced off the stanchion right in front of me. Incredible strength; never seen anything like that before or since.
Geez I wished I could have watched him. I'm not even old enough to have seen jordan play. the closest thing I've seen to a goat is lebron but i understand unlike many people my age that wilt is the true goat, no one is better

+buckfan1969 Yeah , my friend , I have seen players who are usually noted in 1 aspect of the team dynamic, some for scoring , some for rebounding , some for intimidation & on n on. But with Wilt , you get nearly ALL of those qualities at the same time! ... scoring, rebounding , FG% , intimidation , blocked shots (although they weren't officially kept) , & so many more "intangibles" as well as the usual stat's. Wilt was domination personified!

@Kaizaro123 RIGHT, rules are different and they would benefit him. He rarely fouled, not because he didn't play D but because he could afford give distance when you could block a shot coming in at 13' high. Odds are his scoring average would be higher in today's game.

If he was an 18 year old recruit with the size and speed, strength, colleges would be offering all kinds of bribs.. I try to think of 7 foot or taller centers that have fadaway jump shots. in some of those old video's from his young days, it's amazing how high and and fades away. A player would have to be 8 feet tall to block those.

The measurements making it clear Shaq wasn't dominating Wilt no time ever...the skills, the speed, the athleticism. Who else was blocking Kareem's skyhook? Lead the league in assist, averaged 48.5 minutes PER GAME for a full season...played every minute of every game for a full season...could go on and one...
I call Wilt "The Outlier" you can't compare him to other athletes and it makes sense. They should always mention him first when speaking about stats, then say for normal guys here are the records...

Kareem is grossly overrated- Elvin Hayes blocked his skyhook when Houston beat UCLA in one of 2 losses UCLA had in Kareem's then 3-year allowed varsity play (88-2); how the LIE of "it has never been blocked" is repeated so often baffles me; but I do like Kareem, he was no Wilt- let us not forget, his LA LAKERS were perhaps most talented total TEAM ever-James Worthy most underrated player ever (next to Dale Ellis); Wilt had lame teammates til his final term of his career; and when Arnold called him "strongest man he ever met"- that carries weight as Arnold NEVER has admitted anyone else was better at anything than Arnold
Kareem on offense is not over rated but he is 2nd to Wilt on offense at the center.
Rebounding wise Kareem is not even top 5 and Wilt #1.

Here's my favorite Wilt statistic: In his 142 head-to-head confrontations against Bill Russell, probably the greatest defensive player of all time, Chamberlain AVERAGED the odd double of 28.7 points and 28.7 rebounds. This despite the fact that Russell's Celtics owned a better record against Wilt's Warriors, 76ers and Lakers.
Russell played with FIVE Hall Of Fame teammates! Chamberlain was a one man gang most of his career.

@@steven544 THANX for the fact, the Celtic teams that won all those chips were or had been playing together for 5-8, 3-8, and 3-10 years together, but when Wilt got a group of guys together that played 3 years together they the Sixers of '67 compiled the best record in the NBA for three years: 67-69 , they the 67 Sixers broke the Celtics string of title runs,as a matter of fact thise were the first games i saw '67 Celtics v Sixers, it was the hype of the time, everyone was talking about, we even put up our first b-ball goal, bought an air pump, bball and pump Needle. It was serious.
I like the stat that despite averaging 50, he was second team all nba and received just 9 first place votes for mvp.

55 rebounds in a game against Bill Russell!! I remember the story about his scoring, and someone talked about not passing enough. So the next year he led the NBA in assist. Never missed a game!! Had the shot put record at Kansas? High jump's 6'7!! The guy is a freak.And he was really 7 foot 1 inch. Now they give taller stats to the players now. 6'10 is 7 foot now. When I see him and Shaq side by side, Wilt looks at least an inch taller, and that's when he's 55 years old.

Wilt Chamberlain had the best physical tools of any athlete in the history.
Not to say he was the greatest specimen ever - there were specimens that did not compete in todays' pro sports. But in the history of pro sports - Wilt had the best body.
Imagine a 7-1 guy running 10.6/7 secs for 100 meters. A 600 IB bench press at his heaviest. Arnold Shwazenegger said Wilt Camberlain and Andre the Giant (wrestler) were the two of the strongest men he ever met.
But lets talk about something he's NOT known for. Let's not talk about one of his top 7 qualities. Let's talk about Wilt Chamberlains' passing skills. He may have been the only centre in the history of the NBA to have led the league in assists - which he did ONE year. Phenomenal. And that's not one of his top 10 qualities. A 55 rebound game against the Celtics. A 26 ( yes "26" ) blocks in ONE game against the Detroit Pistons.
But what irks me - is that they say he played against Midgets. He played against 6'10, 6,11 and 7,0 tall centres. And he was the most double teame dplayer in history. This means the 6-8 or 6-5 power forward would come and stand next to Wilt. Thus projecting the illusion he was playing "midgets". He wasn't. At 7-1 (conservative estimate) probably closer to 7-2, he makes every one look small. In the same way that Dekembe Mutumbo at 7-2 made every one else look small. But Dekembe Mutumbo was no Wilt Chamberlain.
And what centre today has a vertical leap like Wilt? None of them.

Wilt was a real almost 7'2 player in his socks. He had a 8 foot 3 inch wingspan. Today they measure in they're sneakers, and make sure they are extra high when measured. The ONLY reason Wilt is not unquestionably recognized as the greatest player in any sport ever is because of a glaring omission in statistical recordkeeping: Blocks per game were not recorded in his playing career, of which he may well have averaged at least 10 a game for his career.

there's really no need to try to justify anything. the fact is back when Wilt played, they measured heights without shoes. nowadays, they measure with shoes that add at least an inch and a half to two inches, then they let the players pick their height anyway. the only people making that "short white guy" argument are fucks that know nothing about the sport. they watch highlights and think they know the game. but thank you for making that list. the heights don't even tell the whole story cause you have to add in the strength, athleticism and skill.

I just saw a reply to this on my email from a 'Shawn M' (he must have deleted it on here); he stated that none of the players listed above would have made an NBA team in the 1990s or in today's "fast-paced" NBA (the fastest pace in the NBA was the era of the 1960s to the 1980s; I'd say that the game today is the slowest it's ever been). He then stated that Bill Russell would be a "poor man's Ben Wallace"... All I can say is that those statements make me cringe, but also make me realize just how misinformed some fans really are about the history of the NBA.

Shaq even admits he's 6'11 1/2 but list at 7'1. Hakkem Olajuwon was 6'10, but more like 6'9 in socks. Russell was almost 6'10 in socks, obviously not as tall in the photo because of age. I think that the idea of greatest player ever is an interesting conundrum when it comes to basketball, because there are so many great players who were great for much different reasons. Wilt is most likely the single most skilled/talented player to have ever lived. Russell is the greatest teammate in basketball's history. If you need to win, and you need one guy to get you there, MJ is your guy. MJ had a killer instinct like no other. Bird was one of the most, if not the most, clutch shooters ever. It all depends on preference imo. I like a traditional big man, so I prefer Wilt's skill-set over the others in the GOAT conversation.

His speed, strength, stamina, endurance, intelligence, and athleticism made him an incredible beast of a athlete. He only played like 13 seasons. I was only 8 years old, but one of my earliest sports memories is being taken to Convention Hall to see Wilt in his rookie season. He was a local kid, who grew up not far from us, so it was a big thing then.
