Bohot achcha hai. Bade bade gawaiyon ki bandishe hain (Sugana bicharo bamhana - gwalior gharana, Ab mori naiyaa - Ustad Tanras Khan Khalifa Ustad Delhi Gharana, Tarana - Gwalior gharana). If he had slowed down the Tarana it would have sounded even more beautiful.

The harmonium wasn't great. Its volume should have been much lower and the volume of the two tanpuras should have been higher. Above all, it seems that either the audience were not there or had gone to sleep and forgotten to clap. This was very odd. As we all know Indian classical music performances are highly dependent upon a responsive audience. Mohd Aman is a great vocalist, and despite the non-responsiveness of the audience, he performed beautifully, especially towards the end. Hats off to him. A word about the setting of the stage, which was amazingly beautiful. However, the introduction was too long, and my personal opinion is that the ceremony of garlanding the artists and the ritual offering of "shawls" should altogether be abolished. It is an awkward and unnecessary ritual and puts a damper on the proceedings. Instead, introductions should be terse, brief and quick, and should be done well before the curtain rises. And instead of shawls and garlands, performing artists should be offered proper remuneration in the form of cheques before the concert starts. Mohd Aman deserves well-publicized and well-attended concerts and more frequent performances. Good luck to him.
