From Out of The Smoke Appears CSX Train

  • Filmed on August 23, 2024 on the outskirts of West Newton, Pennsylvania. West bound on the former B&O Railroad line now the CSC Keystone Sub main line.
    Engine # 3320(GE ET44AH) along with engine # 3003 (ES44AC). Train appears from out of the smoke and a horn show ensues at the crossing. This train is hauling SPMX covered hoppers, scrap gondolas, box cars, empty center beam cars, a few tankers and more. The SPMX cars were made for Shell Polymers and used to transport pelletized plastic.

    Awesome shot there, what was that behind the 2nd, was that a gondola or well car with a tank and intermodal container stacked on top? Love mixed freights, always an assortment of rolling stock on them. Nice catch, he’s headed south towards Smithton 👍🏼🇺🇸😎

      I'm not really sure what that was behind the 2nd engine-definitly looked like a mini tanker with an intermodal container stacked on top of it. Maybe something to do with hazardous/fire suppression or something to do with all of those plastic pellets it was hauling?
      The mixed freights are my favorite also. I especially love when the engines are sooty/charred, the cars are rusted, faded, dented, smashed, and spray painted. I can appreciate when they are nice and shiny, but I really like it when they have some character!!
