Don't wait around after an enemy's attack text box, you might have a chance to heal or kill before it scrolls to zero. Battles end instantly once you're over-leveled and the things are running away from you. Dad deposits money after every battle. As for Frank, stocking up on food and busting through the text boxes faster might be all you need (at worst though, you can grind).
