DUBAI- January 28, 2015: Aster DM Healthcare, the leading Dubai-based healthcare conglomerate, announced opening of Aster Hospital-Mankhool, the largest Aster Hospital under the Group in the UAE. The 100-bed Hospital, located in Mankhool, Bur Dubai, will be the first among the five Aster DM Hospitals which are being commissioned presently to cater to the increasing requirements for the UAE population. The Hospital will open its doors to the community from January 29, 2015, and will be officially inaugurated in the first quarter of 2015.
Over 35 Aster Medical Centres and 10 Access clinics in the UAE concentrate on looking after the primary health aspects of patients. There is a growing need for a facility, which is capable to look after secondary and some tertiary level care for patients by providing them a complete system of care under one umbrella healthcare setup. Over 300 doctors are working across the Aster and Access facilities. The new hospital will promote a team-based practice to help the patients get treatment plans that are verified by a team of experts to ensure that the best plan of action is followed to improve medical outcomes.
Spanning across an expanse of 1,90,000 square feet, the Aster Hospital-Mankhool will provide routine medical, surgical, obstetrics, paediatric, neonatal, dialysis, endoscopy and emergency care services. The advanced facility has been set up with the latest medical and diagnostic technologies across multi-specialty departments.
These details were provided at a press conference organised on the sidelines of Arab Health Congress 2015. Aster DM Healthcare is the Platinum Sponsor of the Congress. Dr. Azad Moopen, Chairman and Managing Director of Aster DM Healthcare, said: “The opening of Aster Hospital-Mankhool is yet another milestone for us. We are extremely proud to dedicate this facility to the people of the UAE. The Group found its roots nearly three decades ago in a close proximity to this location. We are very thankful to the Rulers, health authorities and other governing regulatory bodies of the UAE for their great support. This Hospital is part of our mission to make good quality secondary and tertiary care accessible to the residents of UAE.”
“This is the first of our five Aster DM Hospitals that are in various stages of construction at this point. We have two more Aster hospitals coming up in Qusais and Abu Dhabi over the next two years; and then again under the Medcare brand, we have one general hospital in Sharjah and another boutique Woman & Child Hospital coming up in Sheikh Zayed Road. The facilities are being set up in line with the vision of the future needs of Dubai and the UAE. These new Hospitals will provide care to people from all sections of the society, ensuring provision of health services of highest international standards. We significantly contribute to the UAE’s medical sector giving priority to raise the standards of medical practice. We currently have about 450 beds under construction in the UAE. The number of units under the Group is set to grow to 300 units by the year 2017 as outlined in our vision plan,” he added.
Speaking at the press conference, Dr. Layla Al Marzouqi, Acting Director of DHA Health Regulation Department, and Director of Dubai Medical Tourism Project, said, “It’s a pleasure to join the launch of Aster Hospital-Mankhool. I hope this advanced medical facility would contribute significantly to the development of Dubai healthcare sector, which is expected to witness further growth. This is mainly driven by the rising demand from the increasing population, rapid developmental activities, introduction of compulsory health insurance, and the promotion of Dubai as a regional medical tourism hub. The healthcare providers in the private sector respond favourably to DHA’s strategy to ensure the best care to the residents and citizens.”
