This happened to me also. I immediately ran to my local police station and filed the case under cyber cell and they immediately sent me to the cyber cell and the police took my phone and locked all permission and every way of them contacting me and hence the harrassment stopped. Police even didn't have to take any legal action it was so quick and easy. Please please please 🙏 whoever is reading this if anything like this happens to you immediately go to the nearest police station, don't hide from anyone, don't be ashamed, the police is here to help us civilians only so don't be afraid of them just tell them everything and ask for help. You're not a criminal, you're a victim. And please please please like pleeeeeeeeease don't end your life. Your life is way more worth than 2000 rupees. This is my humble request and advice. Coming from a real life experience.

I experienced this. I took a loan of 2500 in some random App and the interest rate was sky high. Its 5500 what I have to pay after 12 says. They got all my relatives numbers and torchered me a lot.. and somehow... I paid the amount. And after completing the payment also they took an additional 600 from now by frightening me saying that they will contact my relatives and frndss.... I have been through a hell at that moment. In such situations switch off the phone only use when u want to call someone and never return loan money because it will give them access of your bank account. Cyber Cell said me exact thing when one of my relative got trapped in same scam. They generally donthave audacity to go to that extent these people just blackmail people to check how much frightened they are to use the..

What if I buy a new sim card and a new mobile and only download the app. Also there won't be any other contacts, images,data, etc. Only the app will be downloaded in the mobile, then how would they blackmail me?

Few months back, the same thing happened with my friend. He took a loan of 6000 rs for emergency purpose & his due date was approximately one month. But as soon as the due date started closing they called him from multiple numbers which were of course not Indian numbers and even shared his contact list & photos with him that if he doesn't pay the amount before due date, everything will be leaked. Even after paying the money he took, he still get messages from them for a period of 1 week demanding to give more money to them, so he launched complaint in cyber crime & fir at police station & shared with them. No action was taken place from government side but the message and calls were stopped. So guys please be safe and don't trust easily on any app which provides loan or any sort of financial services easily. Do your due diligence.

I worked as a cybercrime investigation manager, even if the app doesn't scam the employee of these app scams asking to make the payment from different numbers saying that the payment made previous was not valid and will ask them to make the payment again. The sad thing was the loan amount will be only around 5000 to 10000
India should have a strong team of software experts to keep analysing any new app from china and immediately ban if any suspicious activity is detected
We need to have a mandatory subject in schools and colleges regarding the cybersecurity use cases which would teach younger people about how the scam work to trap them

Large number people who trapped in such loan app are the one who are less educated or who don't know English properly so I request your team to make video in hindi also and yes and you can also make in your mother tongue ... This happened with me. Fortunately I didn't lose any money. I immediately filed a complaint and they asked me to switch my number and to inform my immediate family of any unknown calls. They morphed an image of mine and sent it some of my friends contacts but more than that they couldn't do anything. They torture a lot but be brave and don't give in to their pressure. I was sanctioned loan without any confirmation. I got the money but I was asked to pay double the amount in a week and by shady methods.
Two things I must point out outside the fact that as always research done is really interesting- 1. Why did it say it contains self harm content? 2. Where is the background music guys? AevyTV's back music..adds to the experience..

Mpockett did this to me. I was unable to pay 6k back every month because i have taken 2k loan one Month. They are asking me to pay enormous 20 k amount 😢
I have been a victim of this. They will give you the loan even if you don’t opt for it. I use Navi and other Indian apps if I need any instant money. That month, because of my curiosity I was checking out other loan apps. And in those apps, you don’t have option of selecting the amount of loan you want or the EMI tenure you want to choose. They will send the money directly to your bank and then they will start their game. They sent me 500 and was asking 5000 for it. And I was supposed to pay this within a week. In the very first call, they used abusive language. I ignored. Then after 2 days, they started harassing me. I could not call up anyone because they were constantly calling me up. When I ignored those, then they started using my photo. They somehow managed to attach my photo with pornstars having fun and then they threatened me that they would share it with my relatives and friends and they did. I talked to my parents and made them understand not to worry. I reached out to the district cyber crime branch and they suggested what needs to be done. They told me not to pay because if I would have paid, then they would start sending me money on their own and the harassment would never stop. They told me that they target a few person for a week and then it would shift to another list of people for the next week. Remember that you will get this call again in the next month during that phase. Its some kind of automation system that they use. The most important thing is that you there are 100 people who will call you up and they will say that he/she is the reliable source and others are not. I got to know this because while i was chatting with one of the scammers over Whatsapp, another one was in a call with me. And those morons were sitting together in their homes and talking to me. They didn’t realise that they were talking to the same person and each of them started abusing each other when they realised that they made a mistake. They both were telling me that don’t pay any others and that he/she is the reliable stakeholder. Anyways, they were all South Indians. Maybe Kannadigas, which suggests that the scammers are now all over India. This is my story. Just don’t pay them. Even if you fall into their trap, go to cyber crime office in your area.

I fell victim of one of these kind of apps during my college. It's an app called mPokket. They used to charge extremely high interest for loans. When I delayed the loan payment by a few days, I was charged almost double the amount of loan I've taken. Somehow I paid it off finally and closed the loan, but the record of late payment stuck on my credit report even after 5+ years. My creditworthiness got affected because of something stupid I did when I was a student. It'll take years to build your credit score back again.

I fell victim of one of these kind of apps during my college. It's an app called mPokket. They used to charge extremely high interest for loans. When I delayed the loan payment by a few days, I was charged almost double the amount of loan I've taken. Somehow I paid it off finally and closed the loan, but the record of late payment stuck on my credit report even after 5+ years. My creditworthiness got affected because of something stupid I did when I was a student. It'll take years to build your credit score back again.

What if I buy a new sim card and a new mobile and only download the app. Also there won't be any other contacts, images,data, etc. Only the app will be downloaded in the mobile, then how would they blackmail me?

If these apps are illigal then we can create a fake mobile number with fake photos and details of ourselves in a new cheap phone, get the loan and just not pay it back
They can't even raise a police complaint 😂
Unfortunately all our phone numbers are linked to aadhar . So once we enter our number these apps will get all out personal data as well. Unless we have a very good friend who sells sim cards, we are not out of the woods
