Wow. I am impressed by this. I’d love to get my daughter one for Christmas. She played percussion in school. I would like to see more reviews of instruments like this. Thanks

I also just realized it has a keyboard layout that will make learning it much easier for me already knowing the note layout

Fun!!! My elementary school's band taught glockenspiel as their percussion instrument. It was so popular you had to be chosen to learn it! I went with flute in band, but one of my good friends got lucky and learned glockenspiel!

Well, the real glockenspiels cost about 3800€ for a Bergerault or Adams, and even 5600€ for the Kolbach, these are no toys...

Oh wow. That makes my soprano glockenspiel look lame. LOL. I've always liked the sound of keyboard percussion instruments. This one has a really nice pitch range. I love the way it folds too. That makes it so much easier to transport. Very cool!

I loved that soprano glockenspiel too! I'm low key on the lookout for a nice wooden xylophone or tongue drum right now, I feel like I need more woody tones in my life 😅

Wow I’m looking to learn an instrument as an adult. That seems cool and something different. Was loving the sound of a hammered dulcimer but Thinking it would take way longer to learn. Love your video and your personality

    • @MusicalMollyKhan
      @MusicalMollyKhan  Před 2 lety +1

Thank you! Depending on how much musical experience you have, the hammered dulcimer might actually be easier - it's more intuitive for those with no musical background, in my opinion. But if you know anything at all about piano the bells will definitely be easier! 😊

  • @harounel-poussah6936

Thank you for this test Molly, now I know I won't buy this model. Can be OK for kids, not to make a record with: Aluminium is a no-go for me, I'm looking for affordable tuned percs for the backline of my recording studio, this one won't make it, I feel that the most affordable OK-sounding one is a €222 (but comes with a stand and some accessories) 32 notes one from Thotho.
For sure, the Bergerault or the Sonor ones are absolutely stellar, but they're in another price range (885-2300€ for 2.5 octaves) while the entry-priced ones for 3-3.5 octaves are at 1.4k€ and consider €3.8k for the Bergerault or the Adams ones.
I'll delete this one from my Amz list, it won"t make. I'm not against cheap instruments, I used an €120 (in 1992) Korean fretless bass for 15 years: once I had installed an EMG PB+JB pickup set and did a few mods, it sounded truly as good as a Fender US one: the body was "only" 7 parts of alder while it's not uncommon to see 11 parts on Fender US standard series (yup!) end 80's/early 90's, but, on this one, sorry, aluminium blades definitively don't make it, it's a toy glockenspiel

Great video Molly and I love your work. I am a Piano Teacher in the UK but have always wanted a Glockenspiel or Xylophone and was looking on Amazon this morning. Could you try Hedwig's Theme from Harry Potter at some point (if you get time) It sounds great on piano and my students love playing it - but I suspect it would sound really good on your new instrument. 😊

    Hello,
I am from France and I discovered this xylophone by chance on the Internet. 👍🏻
I quickly liked it! Already by its magnificent wood and its aluminum notes.
The drumsticks are super suited to the instrument.
I'm a beginner but I've already managed to reproduce Eminem's Whitout Me. (lala la la) 😄
I even managed a chorus by Michel Sardou (Les Lacs du Connemara). It's crazy ! 🤩
I discovered your channel recently and it's a bit thanks to your video that I wanted to acquire this instrument so...thank you! 🥰

      www.thomann.de/fr/sonor_ng30_glockenspiel.htm?listPosition=2&type=manufacturer

Like this girl describes in this video here: czcams.com/video/VT6l8pl7xdQ/video.html
You can apply the same concept to this instrument, where you simply look up the notes that make up whichever song you are wanting to play and since this instrument has all the notes etched into each key, all you have to do is match up the notes in the correct order. Don't need to be a master to do this basic thing. Happy Tchaikovsky Playing. May I recommend Scene from Swan Lake?? :)
