Fuck, I think it’s damn near the best album a mainstream artist has put out so far this century, period. Globally aware and important lyrics, culturally rich genre mixing, phenomenal production, perfect audio engineering, their interest in showcasing underground artists....and the sheer attention to detail and complexity. All while managing to sound so radio-friendly, which is important for musicians trying to reach as much of humanity as possible with an important message. They’re just unbelievably talented artists. You can probably say that about all of their work, but Demon Dayz just has a special spot in my heart. I listened to it in middle school when it came out, so there’s a nostalgia factor there too. But it’s still so impressive on so many levels.
@@Crunchatize_Me_Senpai Absolutely. This album is an incredible triumph. It's so eclectic and covers so much ground, and yet holds together perfectly cohesively as an artistic statement. Great guest performances, great music, phenomenal arrangements. It's beautiful, it's hard, it's joyful, it's dark... it's basically everything.
This album is a banger. I am just bobbing my head through the first couple of tracks. Musical journey… and then the last three tracks just bring me to tears. Not out of sadness, but from the melodic connections. It’s just such a beautiful way to end an album.
The rap section on Dirty Harry has some of the heaviest lyrics I’ve ever heard out of Gorillaz, and that’s saying something. Pretty sure the rapper’s name is Booty Brown or something like that lol. I wouldn’t have guessed someone with that name would come up with such an intense set of bars.
Why nobody do recommend the first Gorillaz's album called Gorillaz??? It's on the same level as Demon Days and Plastic Beach. In fact, it's my favourite one
I’ve always seen Demon Days as the most popular gorillaz album but probably because it was the first one I owned as a little kid, I didn’t listen to the rest of their music until I became a teenager. I remember buying Demon Days on CD for my mum’s birthday present because I knew she would let me listen to it 😂
Glad you have finally experienced Demon Days, thanks for sharing. It's easily my favorite album of theirs so this was a cool watch along. Nearly all my favorites come from this album but my No.1 has gotta be Every Planet We Reach Is Dead. Feel Good Inc, Dirty Harry, Fire Coming Out of the Monkey's Head, and Kids With Guns are close runner ups.
This album was such an awakening for me. I was born and raised with country music listening parents and when this came out I was in (I’m pretty sure) 6th or 7th grade. One of the first CDs I ever bought with my own money just because I thought the character designs looked cool. What a world I unknowingly stepped into. This album will always be one of my top 5 of all time if for no other reason, the nostalgia…let alone how good it actually is.
This is the best surprise for me this week, Gorillaz is my favorite band and I'm passionate about seeing people enjoy and react to this album and Flower Boy from Tyler, and after discovering through the IGOR reaction this made my day! Please, consider reacting to Plastic Beach or their new album, Song Machine Season One: Strange Timez.
Absolutely adore this album, really cool to see someone else's first time listening to it. Dunno if you take requests but I'd love it if you reacted to Random Access Memories by Daft Punk or Blur's self-titled album
i pretty much love everything the gorillaz does, but plastic beach has a special place in my heart, its not just my favorite gorillaz album, but its my favorite album of all time. everything about plastic beach is incredible. the production, the lyrics, the whole story for the virtual members, the concept and the awareness to climate change. it's just such an amazing cohesive project from beginning to end.
O Green World is my personal favorite because it really shows the emotions especially at "i know, you know, i know, you know me too, you know me too" part is really beautiful

Their selftitled debut album isn't the most consistent out of their discography but I think it has some of the most interesting tracks that I cannot for the life of me nail down to a genre. It is their first album though so it has some sharp turns that don't necessarily transition the smoothest. Still, it's an album that is overlooked by most because of the popularity of Demon Days and Plastic Beach which is unfortunate because it has some of Gorillaz' best work.
I am so glad you listened to Demon Days, because I overplayed this wenn I was literally 5 years old, I would love if you react to their self titled debut album and also Plastic Beach 😊
Ok it's time, you gotta listen to the album Madvillainy. One of he best rap albums of all time easily, probably my second favorite (1st is To Pimp a Butterfly). MF DOOM and Madlib..... Sheesh.
Demon Days is an excellent opener to Damon and the other members. Plastic beach is a more flushed out album with stronger concepts. It's also beautifully constructed. You'd enjoy it.
You should react to their other albums, even Humanz, no matter how much hate it gets. I liked the style it was going for and being more experimental. It's worth a try

Demon Days is far better. It also sold 11 million albums where Plastic Beach only sold 2 million. Plastic Beach is overproduced, bloated and shallow which is why it sold so poorly. People saw through its fog of overproduced drek.
