Fine performance, I thought the orchestra played beautifully. I loved the French Horns and clarinets especially. Did I see a Saxophone in there. I never realized Beethoven included Saxophones.

The more I hear this Aria the more I like it but I don’t think it’s sung better than what Jon Vickers does. Araiza had a top D hardly anyone who sings this normally cant approach his tessitura I think it’s better for the baritenors .
Having said that this is sung beautifully

Francisco Araiza. He had a very big career in the 1980s-early 2000s.Sang in all the major house....MET,La Scala, etc. Allthough initially a Mozart tenor he branched out into slightly heavier rep later in his career such as Rodolfo in Boheme,Faust (theres a CD with Te Kanawa)Edgardo, etc.A fine and consistent singer. Theres many CDs of his on Amazon.

I didn't think Gruberova's gown was that bad, but Teresa Berganza's was definitely Donna Anna Meets The Drapes From Tara.

They do certainly have an 80s vibe. That said, the colour is appropriately elegant, and that style is comfortable and flattering to most women. Not everyone can rock strapless like Anne Sophie Mutter in her prime.
