as a Southampton supporter i gotta say the Leicester 9-0 was more humiliating. at MU we had a squad decimated w injuries and even appealed to have the game postponed, which was denied. in the 1st or 2nd minute, an academy player making his debut got a deserved straight red which doomed us there. later on in the match Bednarek was given a wrongful red card (i say this because the red was later rescinded) and the match wouldnt have been 9-0 w out that. obviously 6 or 7 nil is still a disgrace but there were multiple factors outside of So'ton's control that contributed to the 2nd 9-0. so because of that Leicester was far more humiliating

I would have picked losing 0-4 to Liverpool in 1954 in the F A cup as the Reds were in the Second Division at the time. Shrewsbury in the cup was my second choice, 4-10 in Bill Nicholsons first game in charge of Tottenham at 3rd, one of the many heavy drubbings to Arsenal in the early 2000s [think there were three six/seven goal spankings in the space of four/five years] at 4th, and if picking a European game, Dunfirmline in 1962. The first 3 results were ones that signalled their decline. With Everton, I could consider the 2-5 loss to Watford as it destroyed their ambition for many months, even though, even without his status as a Liverpool legend, his confrontational and pragmatic attitude, and his tepid record at his teams since the start of 2009, meant Benitez was never the right boss for Everton, whereas Lampard is and is creating a clear DNA. And with Arsenal, losing the LC final to Birmingham, who we beat home and away in the league and haven’t met since, or the loss to Chelsea in the EL final, could also count, but like with Everton, and the Leeds loss to Histon mentioned in the video, allowed a rebuild

Another great video mate! While watching this I thought of a possible idea for a video. The 7 teams that have conceded the most goals in total in the PL. Obviously some teams have played a hell of a lot more games than others but I’m sure a man of your skills could come up with some rules to sort it haha.

As a Villa fan, the 3-0 home defeat to Birmingham City in the Prem was the most humiliating. And getting dicked 6-0 by Southampton the season before we got relegated was dreadful too. I remember I had to go to the hospital to get some stitches removed after a surgery at that time - and I went to the hospital before the end of the match because I'd rather suffer physical pain than watch any more of that match. Getting thrashed by a better team can happen even when you're playing well. But I understand your choice, especially with the Lescott narrative.

As a Brazilian, It's really interesting to get to know some of the lowest moments in Premier League clubs histories. Around here, the greatest "vexames" (embarrasment, shame) usually are - as Alfie described in a Lot of his choices - surrounded by a larger context of a campaign, rivalry, an entire club period and/or even "off-pitch" aspects, such as players, directors, chairmen actions and statements.
A lot of times, It's not only the poorest performance or the heaviest scoreline that defines the greatest humiliation. It can be a specific match that "encapsulates and symbolizes" a relagation Season of a big club, for example. Nevertheless, another really fine video!

As a Newcastle fan, I think we spoil people looking for our worst ever result. Even among those not cited were 6-0 to Liverpool after Suarez got banned, a 5-1 at Chelsea in their odd 15/16 meltdown season, losing home and away to a relegated Blackburn in the Championship, losing at Scunthorpe in a different Championship stint, being the first team in the season before last to lose to Sheffield United, losing a must win game at an already relegated QPR and that 3-0 loss to Aston Villa when Dyer and Bowyer got a bit distracted. Though makes a change for it not be that game at Hereford

As a WBA fan, smashing Wolves 5-1 was incredibly satisfying, I think there was a riot in Wolverhampton town centre afterwards, it must have been horrible to be on the other end of that. We maybe in a lower league now but we have had it over them for so long in the derby. We've only lost to them 3 times since 1997, winning 13 in the process including a very memorable 3-0 win in the FA Cup where we were given their seats in exchange for Wolves fans getting a pie and pint voucher.
In terms of our own most embarrassing defeat there have been a few in my lifetime, including a few thrashings in the prem, ones that stand out are losing 6-0 and 5-0 to liverpool at home, but I think losing to Wimbledon 1-0 in 2004 is one that has stuck in my mind. They had just moved to Milton Keynes and finished bottom that season. They only bought about a 100 fans and still managed to beat us. Very depressing game all round.

The 6-1 loss to City honestly wasn't that bad of a performance. Utd were down to 10 men for most of the 2nd half and we're only losing 3-1 in the 88th minute and capitulated in injury time
The 5-0 to Liverpool last season was way more humiliating, together with the 4-0 to Everton in 2018/19, 4-0 to MK Dons and even the 2-2 draw with Fulham in 13/14 (the one where we made 81 crosses)

I think when compiling such a list, it might help to consider what the result means to the winning side. If you're playing Liverpool or Manchester United, and you've got a bad day while they've got a great one, then conceding 6 to 8 goals can happen. But to them, this'll be merely a side note in their history,
On the other hand "remember when we won despite being two men down after half an hour?" is the stuff of legends, and will probably get talked about for decades to come among fans of that club - especially if they're not regularly winning any trophies

Great video! Though if it was made today, Man U's might now be updated to losing 7-0 to Liverpool.
Man Utd went into that game sitting 3rd in the table, off the back of a League Cup triumph at Wembley against a much improved Newcastle Utd, as well as beating Barcelona 2-1 in the Europa League.
Liverpool meanwhile were sat 6th, and in the build-up to this game, had just lost 5-2 at home to Real Madrid, drew 0-0 to Crystal Palace, and struggled to beat Wolves 2-0.
In a game that should have seen Man Utd in full confidence, they actually started the game well, but utterly capitulated following a Cody Gakpo goal just before half-time.

Manchester City's lowest point was York City away in the 98/99 season that left City 13th in the third tier table right before the Christmas break. "York away" is now part of club lore with many claiming that "they were there" as part of their proof of their fealty to the blues. Had City not managed to turn things around in the second half of the season and won that dramatic playoff to secure promotion, it is very conceivable that City would have never recovered and gone into administration or worse and they would have not been in position to become what they have become since the UAE takeover.

IMO, Liverpools most embarrassing defeat surely has to be their 1-0 1998 FA Cup Final defeat to Wimbledon. Back then nobody gave Wimbledon a chance in hell, some papers even had them losing double digits in the final. Liverpool being the team of the 80's and as dominant as you can imagine they thought Wimbledon in the final would be a stroll in the park. All this just for Wimbledon to go 1-0 up and Dave Beasant becoming the first goalkeeper to save a penalty in an FA Cup final practically winning the cup for a side who had been a non-league club no more than 12 years prior.

One other Villa defeat that deserved a shout is Bradford 3 Villa in the 2013 League Cup semifinal first leg. Maybe that one game wasn’t humiliating enough, Villa could only win the home leg 2-1, and a Premier League losing over two legs to a side in League 2 is certainly humiliating. What a game the 8-2 against Arsenal was. Im a die hard United fan from Sweden. I bought a ticket to that game online and was told to pick it up at some agent in Manchester. I was meant to pick up by 1pm on the Saturday before the game. After waiting until 9am for a friend who was meant to come from Birmingham and drive me to Manchester i ended up taking a train. When i got to Manchester it turned out i had to take a tram to the agent. By the time i got of the tram, it was almost 1pm and i was rushing. I ran out the tram looking down at the papper with the address to the agent when i suddenly felt a sharp pain to my head. It turned out i had ran into a pole and split my eyebrow open. With blood gushing down my face i continued to run to the agent only to find it was closed by the time i got there.
Dissapointed and in pain, i figured that if i go to Old trafford the club would give me a ticket. Only to be told that they didn’t recognize the agent that had sold me the ticket and that it was fake. I pleaded with them and told them that i was a die-hard fan from Sweden, only to be told that ”this happens all the time” 😤
Dissapointed and in pain, i angrily walked out and wondered around Old trafford in a daze, crying and blood running down my face because it was raining by then. After an hr or so, while standing next to the holy trinity, i was approached by a man. After asking me what was wrong and me telling him, he asked me how much money i had on me. I had more, but told him i had sixty pounds left on more. Then he told me he had a ticket in the away section that he could sell me for that. After buying the ticket from him, he told me to go to the hospital because of my sore (i hadn’t been aware it was that bad).
You can imagine how surprised i was when a woman walked into the waiting room at the hospital and presented herself as the sister of the man who had sold me the ticket. Her brother had told her the story and she had come to check on me. She gave me her number and told me to call her when i was done.
I called her and she came and picked me up and drove me to her house where me, her 80 yr old mother and her had dinner. After dinner me and her brother hung out and it turned out he was a die hard fan who had been at a couple of CL finals. He offered me to sleep over but i declined because i had booked a room by a pub close to Old trafford. Later that night we went out and had some drinks before calling it a night.
The next day i watched the game and couldn’t believe my eyes. Unfortunately i couldn’t celebrate the goals because i was with the arsenal fans😂
What a memory, this video just reminded me of that day. But also how total strangers can be so kind and thoughtful. It’s a shame there are not more people like that. Unfortunately i lost my phone and contact with that guy, but wish i could find him somehow and invite him to 🇸🇪
