Follow along as I diagnose and adjust the Z axis to align to the ATC - I've never done this before, so we're going to learn together. After going through a few steps, I find out there's more adjustments needed besides the Z to align the ATC and the spindle, watch the video to find out the details.

Almost had a tear in my eye when you entered the TC,1 command. Been watching your channel and I just want to thank you for the content.
Back in 2006 - 2009 I ran a Fadal VMC 4020 which was almost identical to the machine you have.
That was my first "real" job and it was cool to, in way go back. Thank you.
The movement to do at home machining is growing and it's awesome to see how much you progressed since you got the machine.

Probably when you first tried to move the machine z axis without the motor installed is how this alignment issue started.
Looking good keep at it ive been making lots of parts on my 15xt.

Own the same machine, turret “stalled”…..weird issue (similar to trying to do a tool change with no air pressure). Umbrella moved to spindle, spindle orientated, then “buzzing” like a stall. Hit E stop, reset…..went away.
    Thanks for posting video!

If it's a DC machine, loosen the resolver on the Z Motor and slowly adjust it until your height is correct. ..Update - I watched long enough now to see you already knew that! Sorry

It's nice to see some more Fadal videos. I should have recorded some of my rebuild as well. I tore all the enclosure off and resealed it all, then ball screws and nuts, added 4th axis, and tool length probe and lots of other things. I love the machine and it's solid as a rock.

usual process... whenever u remove the servo...u have to redo it. Unless u mark the position with a sharpie :)

Tool is in backwards on the fist tool. The dimple should be facing outward

uneven can be cose... disc (plate) is bent or the rod/shaft is bent due to one sided use...Z crashed into the ATC...... one sided use is common. U use 4....8 tools only so u keep them at one spot...thus load is not spread around of course.

My Okuma Cadet is more complicated, but I built a 3 piece tool for this adjustment. Let me know if you need one.
