Yeah. One of the many reasons why Zayn left 1D. I get it. He wrote good songs that could’ve been amazing but for them to be rejected. And the other boys wrote songs and they went through management... why couldn’t his?! He tried his best! And all of the boys on this song could’ve sounded so good. It would’ve been a good 1D song. I’m really sad about it and nothing can change the past... And then on top of that they used him for his voice in other songs!! It all makes me so upset. I I would’ve left too tbf. If they just had a better management... things would’ve been so different. Don’t get me wrong, I miss Zayn I’m the band, but I’d rather him be happy on his own anyways. Memories never fade, and I’ll just relive memories.
Wish this song would have stayed with one direction, where it belonged. Would have been sang with the true, transparent passion with which it was written. Zayn deserved every credit for his supurb writing skills

There's a major possibility that if this song had made it into FOUR, Zayn might have not left the band. Zayn spent months making this song and him and NB were convinced that it'd be their first single for the album but it the end it was totally cut from the album because apparently it was "too grown up" for them.
It was only that time that zayn started skipping many major interviews and even a release event and started to seem very off and much quieter than usual.
I never blamed Zayn for leaving the band but after listening to this story, I can't help but feel sorry for him, the boys and the fandom. It's because of their fucking management that we had to lose Z, and probably why the band split up. I hope whenever they do a comeback, they get a great management and become much more independent.
I like their individual music much more than 1D. It's more unique to their own individual styles and all of them have such different styles of music. 1D felt more like the stereotypical pop, but it was still very good of course.

I don't see how this wasn't within One Direction's style? They absolutely could have made this song match their sound.
That's was the excuse or goalpost they used to exclude Zayn. If Zayn had come back and written Where do Broken Hearts Go or walking in the wind...they'd move the goal post and reject those too saying something like singing about the wind is not in One Direction's style or having no direction knowledge on where broken hearts go is not in One Direction's sound or some such nonsense. It wasn't about the lyric or sound it was the fact that Zayn wrote it (executives also possible heard the Bollywood sounds and just outright rejected it).
BTW i know Harry wrote where do broken hearts go and walking in the wind was just using those songs for the point i was making.
