I started teaching about climate change in 1988! Predictions about the consequences of climate change were surprisingly accurate back then. if anything, the consequences predicted were understated. It is mind blowing that some people are so open & irresponsible to being manipulated by climate change deniers while others are so motivated by personal gain & wealth created by industries causing severe & dire climate change consequences. Moby & Lindsay, thank you so much for bringing Dr. Peter Kalmus to your excellent MobyPod series.

It's interesting as the climate continues to degrade and species die off people are practically worshiping their time with pet dogs, as nobody talks about climate grief in mass media opioid use is booming. I like Moby's comparison to addiction and denial.

Microalgae can store 100 gigatons of CO2 per year! It's in 2023 googlescholar published research. Brilliant Planet company by double Ph.D. Marine biologist Raffael Jovine says he can at best do 10 gigatons per year of Co2 storage via near ocean desert algae farms. So the concept just needs more funding and more scaling up aSAP. Oil is from algae so it makes sense to reverse it.

To me, what is equally tragic as climate change is having to listen to obscene language in a serious conversation with highly educated people. The F word permeates all communication now. It is an ugly word that desecrates something that is supposed to be a beautiful and intimate expression of love. I abhor it. I hate it.

Well, it is a symptom of the disintegration of a healthy society just as climate change is a result of the destruction of the earth. At some point they both threaten human life. Who knows if we will all kill each other before the earth becomes unliveable from global warming?
