You've got me only more excited for my January 2025 trip. Melbourne to Dubai (Emirates A380) and then on to Prague (Emirates 777). Premium economy on the way back from Dubai to Melbourne which I'm most excited about. I haven't left the country since 2010. Great video as always.

EK has done well with these early morning flights. They have a 6am A380 from Sydney direct arriving in Dubai at the same time as your 777. That allows a transit and a late evening arrival in cities in Europe. A proper nights sleep and full next day. Smart.

What a great flight. I can see why you love that view on the 777. I do like the 777-300s as well... they always look so sleek and long. Great video Aidan. I have recently returned from Sydney-Singapore return trip on Singapore airlines A380. It was a great product which was around $1,200 return. Left at 12.15pm too. I’ll look at emirates but certainly would recommend Singapore airlines

Yes, Melbourne is a fantastic city - but so is Adelaide (went there for AFL gather round and loved it!).
Melbourne is one of the few Australian airports that does not have a curfew, hence a lot of international departures scheduled after midnight. The timing sucks but it must have something to do with being able to link the arrival time with connecting flights.
I was curious to see a review from one of the early morning international departures from MEL (most reviews seem to be from the day or better timed flights) - seemed most shops in the terminal were closed at that hour?
Also that first snack you got was like a domestic Qantas meal (small and nothing special) - but at least it’s something. If they offered a full meal at that hour I’d assume many passengers would pass up on it.
Just wondering, being a partner airline, did you earn Qantas points on this EK trip?

Did you continue to Dubai? I like the fact that you did a flight Interview from Melbourne to Singapore on SQ A380 last Year before SQ stopped A380 flying A380 to the City from 22 Nov 2023 onwards. Flying from Melbourne to Singapore two times in 2023 and 2024! SQ A380 for 2023 and EK 777 for 2024, WOW! If you are keen, why not Fly SQ from Melbourne on the Airbus A350? I would like it if you do so!

The only possible advantage of this flight would be a cheaper price due to it being a horrible departure time as a freedom flight.
For those of us in Adelaide wanting to get to Singapore then currently SIA is the best option. Would love for Qantas to restore the Adelaide to Singapore flight but don't hold your breath.
I've done EK405 when it used to do MEL SIN DXB. And that flight had a much better departure time. EK407's timing is horrible and I suppose that's why the tickets are cheaper on that flight. I was offered an upgrade to that horrible business class for AUD 420, but I only saw that email AFTER I landed in Singapore. 😅
If you are flying economy or premium economy then EK is much better SQ. The meal SQ is serving in premium economy now is what they used to serve in economy class 10 to 20 years ago
I have found the 777 to be very noisy compared to the A380. I have never had any problems with the Emirates cabin crew - very professional.
I did the flight on EK from Singapore x DXB x GLA on economy class. Hit and miss. The all female FAs weren't looking very happy and service was so so but the 2nd leg were all male FAs and much better service. Smiley and with no energy. The planes are older but the meals are pretty good though not a fan of DXB airport. Bought a small bottle of similar to Vitamin Water and costs me SGD $13. Too overpriced.

Excellent review. Emirates appears to have lived up to its reputation for excellence. As gay people are illegal in Dubai, it is not on my list of places to visit. Never good to feel so unwelcome that you face imprisonment

That 2-3-2 configuration for business Class looks so outdated and probably overpriced af
Emirates, is thousand times better than Singapore Airlines.
Never a fan of Emirates and don't think will ever be. Flew HKG/CDG economy on Emirates 30 years ago, engine problem, delay for 24 hours departing HKG, and again delay from DBX/CDG.
I also travelled Emirates 100 years ago and it was horrible too... 😁
