They would either have to pay to move her to Gilford from Texas or- let her participate via the web I suppose. But she is awesome huh- it would be cool if she could do it.
Stumbled across Carolyn last year on a CZcams suggested view after doing a bunch of searches on my then new tele thinline. Have been absolutely enthralled with her technique and ability ever since. Another prime example of an artist not getting the worldwide exposure they deserve...
Oh my God, I got goosebumps at end when she was belting it out. She's phenomenal! Awesome interview, one of the best Captain Meets ever. I don't know how a person this talented flew under my radar, but now I'm an instant fan. Thank you to Anderton's for shining a light on Carolyn.
@Rex Rathtar Everyone knows Samantha Fish, Bonnie Raitt, Susan Tedeschi, Sue Foley and all the other amazing blues women. Do you ever hear about her? Personally, I haven't so far. I'm not rating anyone above her, so much as she just isn't rated too high herself. Darn shame eh?
Carolyn is an amazing musician and fantastic guitar player.....part of John Mayall’s Bluesbreakers guitar alumni, fitting in alongside Jimmy Page, Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck, Peter Green, Mick Taylor.....and now Carolyn Wonderland, fitting in nicely!
"The more you play, the less you suck"? Was that the quote? #Andertons You need to get that on a t-shirt, maybe with Carolyn credited for the quote, and sell them and give some of the proceeds to her charity! Love this channel! I'm in Central Texas as I type this, and I watch this channel daily. The jams with Lee and Pete are fresh and fantastic (another t-shirt slogan!) in every video, and I've learned a lot about new gear and met a lot of artists I didn't know from this channel. Great job! Carolyn is a great player. Wow. That right hand technique is impressive. I grew up in the Houston area and have heard her name a zillion times but somehow have never seen her. I will have to remedy that.
Carolyn is a national treasure and I had the good fortune of seeing her regularly in Houston. She arrived on the scene with hot licks and a dynamic voice. A natural performer from the start. The barefoot hippy chick at Danelectros guitar bar, a magical time and place. Memories to last a lifetime.
What an amazing musician Carolyn is! Thank you Captain for introducing her to many of us. You do a wonderful job of bringing out the artist's history, mentors and inspirations ... And you don't forget about us guitar geeks that want to know all about their instrument collection! Bravo Captain, please keep doing more of these!
Carolyn is a Texas treasure. I've been following her since so was very young with her band Carolyn and the Imperial Monkeys. It amazing that her voice is holding up. She's been singing like Janis for a long time. Check out her music and support her.
If people only knew, dozens of the greatest players and singers that most have never heard Playing out at local beer joints. Touring pros dropping in. Magical indeed
I found Carolyn a few years ago on CZcams and have been a fan ever since. Her version of nobody's fault but mine is the best I've ever heard. Thank you for bringing her on your channel.
It is a constant amazement to me how many talented musicians from the US can reel off countless names of other brilliant peers and influencers, yet their names and work here in the UK are just not well-enough known. Thank you for sharing your skills with us Carolyn.
I had the good fortune of helping my 2 brothers run sound for her band several times at Blues Festivals in and around Winter Park, Colorado. I have some great pictures from 15 feet away of Carolyn jamming with Chris Duarte and Joe Bonamassa.
Quite possibly one of my favorite interviews that you've done to date, Lee, and with so many amazing people I feel that's really saying something special! Considering I'm from the U.S. I'm almost embarrassed to admit this, but I've never heard of Carolyn until today. I'm glad to say that she's gained more than a few new fans. Amazing playing and what a killer voice! It doesn't get much more kickass than Carolyn Wonderland, folks! If I'm honest, I wish the interview was double in length!
I had the fortune to see Carolyn with her band the Imperial Monkeys opening for the Paladins many years ago at La Vida hot springs in So Cal. She was so cool! Her and the band had gotten in.wreck on the way to the gig and lost a bit of equipment. In spite of this setback, they persevered and delivered a killer show. Carolyn autographed her CD for me and took the time to draw a harmonica as part of the autograph in recognition of me being a harp player. Never forgot! She is an amazing musician.. and remember her vocals.. this woman has some pipes!
That was a great interview. I'd only just recently come across Carolyn on youtube, I'll definetly look for more of her stuff. Delightful person. Now where's my lapsteel?
Another new guitarist for me to check out, thank you Andertons. I watch the first few minutes of the beginning jam of each captain meets, if I like, I continue
First learnt about Carolyn just 3 weeks ago, watching the 2018 Winery gig in Nashville. Not denigrating any of John Mayall’s previous guitar players…they’re all great in different ways…but Carolyn is as good as any of them.
Good picken' Carolyn! In the '60s I played in a rock band in Hollywood California named, "Melvin Wonderful"! Our bass player was the talented Lee Flowers.
What great thoughts on guitar fitting in the band mix! I often play OMB and my old neck pickup on the LP just disappeared at a blues jam. So, quickly to the bridge and adjust the tone! Ok ok ok lap steel I shall get! Such sweet tones! Excellent video!
Midrange-midrange- and more midrange- that's what cuts through the mix and sits on top- whatever has the most midrange. To be even more precise- upper midrange- cuts like a knife. The neck pickup on a Les Paul is going to be dark and full of bottom end, flubby- it's steeping all over the bass player- no good. That's one thing ppl like about the klon over drive- it's got a rich upper midrange and so it cuts through a mix really well. Tube screamers do a good job to- though you will have to put up with the somewhat nasally voicing. Getting an EQ pedal really helps with all this- whatever you're using you can dial out the low end and accentuate the midrange and place yourself in the mix wherever you like. Something like the Chase Bliss preamp pedal- though it costs a small fortune- is perfect because now you've got preset eq curves can apply to each song and place yourself in the mix wherever the guitar needs to be for that song. Or you can kick in a preset for leads, then use a different one for rhythm so you stand out when needed, fade back when you don't want to step on the vocals.
Thank you, Carolyn- I'm going to have some tee shirts made up that say, "The more you play, the less you suck." on them. I have a feeling they're going to sell pretty well. LOL- If I start getting rich, I'll cut you in. You can trust me, I from Alabama. We drink sweet tea and fry everything we eat just like you guys. Hell- we even figured out how to fry ice cream.
Also can we get a 2023 store tour? I've never even seen the outside of the shop I don't think.would love to see the studio in full too.back parking lots...shots outside the windows.ect etc. All that stuff is key to making your business feel even more like a character.afyer all the years tho I've still never made a purchase from Anderson's which is a sin I know...I'm sorry
Captain!!! YOU NEED TO MEET MORE PPL IN 2023 AND BEYOND.lets get ones of these once a month? Every 6 weeks? Maybe even sooner? Do like Paul and Skype if ya gotta
this might sound toxic but it's great to see a female actually be good and not get a participation trophy. her precision is amazing. and such tasteful phrasing. amazing player
Please be aware of scam comments. Andertons will never contact you via telegram.
Will you pretend Chapman British made guitars are selling well though? 😉
What a great episode. Carolyn should be a regular on the show
They would either have to pay to move her to Gilford from Texas or- let her participate via the web I suppose. But she is awesome huh- it would be cool if she could do it.

Stumbled across her when I heard her great version of John Mayall's 'The Laws Must Change' on a blues radio show.
Never understood how she keeps from breaking her nails.
Carolyn is one of the most underrated blues women ever!
Absolutely!

Wow she can play!!!!
Carolyn is an amazing musician and fantastic guitar player.....part of John Mayall’s Bluesbreakers guitar alumni, fitting in alongside Jimmy Page, Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck, Peter Green, Mick Taylor.....and now Carolyn Wonderland, fitting in nicely!
She is a hell of a player. Love it. Cheers from West Texas!
That right hand technique is awesome. Thanks for the introduction.
Another great Texas Guitar Slinger, cool!

THIS!! What a great idea.

Keep turning those rocks over and showing these talents the light of day Captain!
Welcome to Guildford! Love that, and the introduction to Carolyn Wonderland - big smile on my face for the rest of today.
Carolyn is a Texas treasure. I've been following her since so was very young with her band Carolyn and the Imperial Monkeys. It amazing that her voice is holding up. She's been singing like Janis for a long time. Check out her music and support her.
Amazing woman!!!! The hairs on the back of my neck stood up wen she sang and played the lap steel guitar. Great stuff Andertons!!!!
Saw Carolyn a couple of times live, phenomenal musician. Also saw Cyndy Cashdollar and Albert Lee together last year. Also.a great show.
Seen Carolyn several times here in Austin at Antones and she is just incredibly awesome!!! Glad you had her on. Thank you.
She is an amazing musician and person. There was a definite magic in Montrose/Heights of the mid-late 80's. Shine on!
If people only knew, dozens of the greatest players and singers that most have never heard
Playing out at local beer joints. Touring pros dropping in. Magical indeed
If you get a chance, go see her live. She's a transcendent performer you'll remember forever.

Saw Carolyn when she came thru Phoenix a few years ago. Don't miss her if she comes to your town. Fantastic show!
It's always a treat hearing her play. As a Florida boy, that Texas twang feels like home.
Priceless

Awesome! :-)
Welcome to Guildford 😂 love the way Lee holds his own now, no glances over, just does his thing….
Talking about multi-instrumentist Lee, you should have a look at Steve Hill, the one man blues rock band. He's truly amazing!
How come I don't know who she is, especially as she played with John Mayall. I will have to listen to her back catalogue.
she is so sweet so good, i want see her soloing on metal Song
Great picking style!
