- In this Volume, I ride the northern part of the wild and woolly Dalton Highway. Along the way, I lose my temper, yell about the road, laugh about the road and the "construction" and I pass over the famous Atigun Pass. Do I crash and burn? You'll have to watch to see!

Enjoyed your video. If you did this in 2019, a lot has changed since then. I did the ride from PA to Deadhorse to Key West back to PA on my 2015 Victory Vision. The weather during my ride was very, very cooperative. Some light rain in spots on the Dalton with a few construction zones to maneuver through. But the smoothest patch of asphalt was 57 miles south of Deadhorse all the way up. You probably would have ranted less towards the end😆. Well done to earn your bragging rights of conquering the Dalton.

Enjoyed this video. My brother is planning a ride from Denver to Deadhorse for next summer...... on a Harley softtail (terrible idea). He wants me to go with him, and I'm probably going to pick up a used bmw r1150gs with proper tires for the trip.
Any advice in terms of "must have" gear, etc.?
The mother part is lovely. I’m wondering if my wife and I can finish Fairbanks to prudhoe bay then back to Fairbanks in one week? Do you think ride with pillion is a good idea?
Enjoyed your Volume 21 Coldfoot to Deadhorse episode, as I have been seriously thinking about making the ride and watching a lot of video's. However, after seeing the road with miles and miles of potholes with mud/rain for a lot of the trip, I think California HY1 will be all the adventure I need. Surely it is a once in a lifetime trip, but although I enjoy an adventure, I can think of hundreds of places to go to that offer fantastic scenery, unpaved roads, but a lot better maintained roads.
Great final leg of your push north to Deadhorse Hawk! Loved the train horn effect btw. After seeing the bits of road you traveled on, I really DON'T think the FJR is going to make that trip anytime soon.
Loved the videos Hawk, especially the rant. Call me a fool but I feel I need to do this. I am sure I will regret it. I am also sure I will always remember it.

@@motohawk602 words to live by. I will indeed "embrace the suck". Some of the most positive moments of my life also were the most catastrophic, at that time. I am a road rider that has never ridden off road. I am borrowing my son's dual sport and booked some off road lessons so I can crush this. Mud and mosquitos be dammed. Can't wait

I knew it would be bad, I had read and studied and talked to others, but decided I'd just go anyway. To me, it was a long way to go for bragging rights.

I don’t think you understand why people do this. For one thing , there is no other trip like this. It does test your skills, road conditions, weather, planning, and fortitude. Saying there is nothing to see, I really don’t get that , coming from another rider. But maybe your not a adventure type of rider, witch is fine. I have a vstrom and a goldwing, fun to test your skills to ride both.

I had the same thoughts as you did on my return trip on the Dalton. Why would anyone want to ride all the way up there to see nothing? I have actually been thinking about going back. I made the trip in solo in 2016. Left Fairbanks around 3:00 PM and returned the next day at 5:30 PM so a little over 1 full day to complete the trip.
What was the month and date you did this?
I rode the Dalton from Fairbanks to Deadhorse and back August14-17th of 2019
