oh my goodness, what precious kitties!
I love the variety of books that you read and hearing your thoughts on them. Also very much appreciate the trigger warnings, this is something that's extremely important.
My grandma was a librarian so absolutely here for the positive library mentions. ❤
Awwww that’s so great - not all librarians are godzillas!
@@ChanelChapters sooo true!
Glad I watched the film adaptation of Annihilation instead - I have more patience for vagueness and a lack of answers in movies. (And also in that medium I don't have to struggle through writing that is trying very hard to not give you information)
The quotes from the Aphrodite poetry book resonated so hard 😭💔
I might have to give it a watch
Sometimes tumblr style poetry just hits
Thanks for the recommendations, especially the poetry, that really is my bag.
No worries
The Aphrodite Made me do it and Persephone Made me do it both sound good. ❤
It was an immersive read
I find it so strange to see librarians as the villains. I only remember as a child librarians were seen as people who said keep quiet and read but not soul crushing. I do want to read roll with it by jamie sumner so your review has me sure to try that one first. I loved annihilation and it was one of my favourites. I don't mind me some ambiguity and the atmsophere was so good. I really like the film as well which I recommend, although it does things a bit differently. But it is still ambiguous admittedly 😅 Love that you've been enjoying the poetry so much lately.
Haha I wish I could roll with ambiguity!
And yes, what is with librarians being the new villains lol
Excuse me, but you go get the answer in book three of Southern Reach. So much so that I found it pragmatic. If you like, since you might not read the rest, I'll do a SPOILER thing below and tell you.
I have IBS myself. From colonoscopy 1 to 3 I went from damage to no damage, so much so the GI had no idea what my problem really is. So I just eat better and take a few supplements. But everything you said in that book I had tried.
Ready? Annihilation answers if you want them.
SPOILER SPOILER

The term is called panspermia. This is what happens when a body in space like a big rock hits another and material is exchanged to another world. Earth and Mars have exchanged material this way. Earth and the Moon as well. So, in the 3rd book it does say that a particular world light years away was hit and huge portions of it were strewn about taking eons to get to other worlds. Earth was one of them and the biology of Area X is taken over by what is essentially nanotechnology in organic form absorbing life. The other two books are a bit more forward but not every mystery is revealed, you just learn more about people presented briefly in Annihilation.
Thank you for telling me! Ppl on goodreads led me astray there
Did the biologist lady find her copy husband on the other island?
@@ChanelChapters No. There is this moment in the first book where she sees a dolphin and the passage alludes to it being him. So when you get absorbed your mind can become part of the environment.
