An amazing subnautica challenge would be to play the game backwards. You start out in the primary containment facility. You'll need to work your way backwards through the game while achieving everything you would normally do backwards. Like, most people usually get a seamoth at the beginning of the game, but you'll have to get the Cyclops or Neptune rocket first.

I like the realistica one because it shows how certain colours desaturate the deeper you go underwater because of how light wavelength works! So cool!!

About Realistica shaders: I once had a bug, that made lava zone looks just like I was playing with realistica shaders. But after relaunching the game all become normal again

Seeing how a lot of game franchises have been getting their own movies like FNAF and Super Mario Bros., I wouldn’t be surprised if Subnactica ended up getting it’s own movie.

Maybe it was just the aspect ratio change tricking but I think the Aeonic shader makes the game kind of look like the trailer cutscenes, it was probably my favorite

I like the Riptide Reshade in certain places. Yes, it tones down the wonder of the marvelous beauty that is the game, but it also amps up the scare factor and makes it a horror game more than a story-based action-adventure game with crafting and building.

While amazing work to the modders, I still prefer vanilla. Some shaders work in certain biomes but not so much elsewhere. Like I love Xenobath Shader for the Kelp zone but I love Cinematic Overhaul for Lava zone instead. Makes me wish I could take them all and blend them together.

would say the riptide reshade was the best for me. sadly the green zone and the lava zone werent that great.
btw. lil tip from me if i may: show off the giant cove tree while using one of these shaders! that tree with those ghostrays surrounding it would make for some crazy comparisons!

there's an upcoming mod where reefbacks can hurt you. they're still harmless, but if you swim too close in front of them, you can get sucked into their inflating tubes and receive a lot of damage.

Maybe for the next modded subnautica campaign, you play as the first Aterra survey to establish the first few bases in Sector Zero.
The theme can be a horror trope of playing as different scouting teams meet their end by a variety of creatures.

@@TheLastBacon would you please do a commentary for my subnautica video, it's a story about the sea dragon giving me thalassophobia and as a result I never went back to the lava zone, not for 3 years, as a result i built a base high up far away from the deep, until I decided to gather myself, step up to the fight and prepare to kill it. I spent days learning about them and getting things ready, until I took the plunge and had a 1v1 with it. Please make a story using it

Good video as always but i have a question tho, do these (especially cinematic overhaul) affect the performance too much? Like, will it be better for performance to have subnautica at medium details but with cinematic overhaul or just straight up put it to high details without the shader? Thanks :D
TBH I didn't notice a drastic change in performance - like within +/- 5fps.

I kind of what a mix of these in the game and it changes based on time of day. The lava zone though just needs a consistent setting that let's you see properly

Hey Bacon! I was wondering if you could review and rank Subnautica Mods that Adds a TON more to the Builder and mobile Vehicle Bay? Like More compartments, Storage containers, Sleeping areas, Vehicles, Moonpools to hold more than one Vehicle or can even hold the freaking CYCLOPS. And even More!

I'm late to this, but I'm surprised to see that you showcased Xenobathalassophobia again. Truth be told, looking back on it, it was an absolute mess of a shader as I had no idea what I was doing with most of the effects at the time. I've kinda abandoned it and Reshade in favor of nVidia's game filter feature, as it allows me to actually achieve the initial effect I wanted to achieve with Xenobathalassophobia, but without the overabundance of bloom or contrast getting blown out of proportion, and Game Filter is just more performance friendly on my PC anyways. lol
If nVidia's Game Filter Feature allows for the ability to create presets that I can upload to other sites, I may just fine tune my game filter preset and call it Xenobathalassophobia 2.0!
