Recently listened to Stokowski on Andante - 5 CD Wagner set from the 1920s and30s with the Philadelphia Orchestra - remastered by Ward Marston.....excellent. Surprisingly the sound very listenable. Exciting performances.

I loved that Phase 4 Elgar LP, my first Enigma Variations, coupled with the Serenade for strings and the Elegie.

I have a copy of the Prince Igor: Dances of the Polovetzki Maidens from 1937 and I love it!
So many great suggestions for more Stokowski to explore.
    Thank you, Dave!

Organ? There's a couple of moments in Schoenberg's orchestration of the Bach St. Anne where you would swear he's using an organ, but the scoring is cleverly deployed woodwind. But organ is about the only thing he doesn't use!

I agree with Mildred, she says Stokowki is at his best with Russian music. I have his orchestration of Stravinsky's Firebird Suite and Mussorgski's Night on Bald Mountain on vinyl, haven't found both on one CD. His orchestration of Bach's BWV 565 sounds like winter sludge.
