I would like to say a big Thank you to all my subscribers and viewers for what has been a very strange year, throughout the Coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic. I hope you have all enjoyed my videos this year, with my favourite, end-of-year compilation to end! I am looking forward to more travel in 2021 as restrictions ease and the warm weather returns.

UK Crossing Designer: THAT'S IT! I shall get working! WAIT that's my house! Oh well inspiration is inspiration!
I really admire how most trains in the UK 🇬🇧 are for passengers. Nice level crossings too!
👍
We do have freight trains here, but as the UK invented the train, it is a favoured mode of transport.
@@masonholder69 British trains are my favorites! They’re the most beautiful in the world; especially their steam locomotives.

I never thought level crossing nerds (and I mean "nerd" in the best possible way) would be something to exist, but I love that you do.
I love the siren sounds and the bells, and the whirring of the motors of the gates is super satisfying, too. Of course the trains going by is the fun bit, but that's a given. I could get into this. I like it a lot :)
Thank you 😁 Yeah, I'd agree there is a level crossing community, and there's definitely a few of us that know about all the types and equipment at crossings. The exact combination of alarms, barriers, lights and their arrangements have all made them quite interesting to film and watch (for me at least) 😉
Flashing lights, sirens and bells. Emergency vehicle 'nerds' could get behind this! 👀 Ss
I also love RR crossings... While functioning, somethin' special flows into my veins.
Nice! Happy New Year! :)
Thank you! Happy New Year 😁👍
At the start of the video, you can hear another level crossing in the distance.
Yeahh loll
UK LEVEL CROSSING CHANNEL HOW DID YOU GET THAT LOGO OF YOUR
Which logo? The thumbnail or my icon?
Idk why but im addicted to these crossings and why did the moter sound weird at 18:37
You got the rare train at addlestone, it was going for portsmouth harbour but they usually go for weybridge
Yeah, there was diverts running due to engineering works on some lines which so there was much more trains than usual passing through Addlestone
Nice 👍👍
Thanks 👍👍
Weeeeeeeeeeeeee
I’ve seen a lot of fords in this video like the cars stopped at the crossing did you notice too?
Great
Thank you 👍
Nice
Thank you 👍
Shame you don't record the type of crossing but thanks for the video anyway. I recognise a few of these from projects over the years :-)
I don’t usually record the type as the majority of my viewers are not from the UK, so wouldn’t really understand the UK’s crossing types.
@@UKLevelCrossingsChannel It's a select base of viewers I'm sure. Renewing old crossings has just been a job for me over the years, it's nice to see videos of those we're about to start working on before we've even been for a site visit.
@@UKLevelCrossingsChannel awesome crossings

WEEEE WOOOOOO
All the UK railroad crossing
How many automatic crossings did you have to film, before you suddenly realised they all work in exactly the same way?
I used to watch crossings quite a lot when I was younger, before I got into filming, so I've known the operations of most crossings before I started this channel
How loud are those sirens. They seem loud. Our e-bells are kinda loud kinda not

Thank you 😊 I haven't visited those crossings yet as they're quite a distance to travel. I will consider visiting them when I hopefully visit Devon again next year
Haha, both of those haven't seen a train since the early 1990s. Great for weed and bramble spotting though.
I wonder why other countries have bells as a gentle reminder for level crossings and we have sirens that are more like DANGER! TRAIN APPROACHING. Says a lot about how we approach safety.
Well the UK was using bells on it's crossings upto the 1980s when electronic alarms were introduced and they've been widely used since. There's still a few crossings in the UK that have bells. I have a playlist on my channel showing some of them.
Though there are some UK crossings with softer sounding yodalarms which definitely fall into the gentle reminder category: marley lane LC in battle, battery road LC in dungeness and the last few crossings on Romney Hythe Dymchurch light railway are some with quieter yodalarms.
Unique alarms: 0:13 1:12

yes its good to film
Looks like square is the thing to do as far as trains in the UK. The trains look like they were inspired by milk cartons, and the level crossings are well.. kinda square too!
Yeah, quite a lot of trains are a bit like that, especially all the Bombardier Electrostars, but that said there is quite a wide variety of different trains used throughout the UK.
1:09 that sounds like Kiltartan Level Crossing in Ireland
How come trains don’t blow their horns when they get to it?
Trains normally honk at specialised signs with a “W” on them witch means they honk or blow their wistle
I have seen those red trains 🚆 up Windsor castle near Heathrow
Yeah, they're the Class 707s. They've been running on the lines round there but the trains are now moving to Southeastern
Is it because of COVID-19 or a different reason any way I liked and subscribed to your channel because I like it 👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾
When you're didn't get shown your like :*(
in the first one i could hear the other bells
I CAN NOT SEE THE TRAIN
So to summarise, if the amber light is on or the red lights are flashing, you stop and wait until the barriers go up again. Very informative, but just a single example would have been enough.
well yes but this person is an example of a level crossing (or railway) enthusiast. basically, there are many crossings to look at which is why there's an entire 1 hour video on it.
@@YukiGersaniba I hope you're not too shocked to learn that I knew that all along.

I like the tone on these crossings, I like in New England they sound annoying here
Ah yeah. Depending on the alarm types, most crossings in the UK usually sound different to one another, which is quite different compared to most other crossings across the world.

It does you just hear it slightly

Y the yellow light?
I’ve never seen that. Maybe because I’m American
4:06 y did the right arm come down so late?
Difference between normal and level crossing?
The yellow lights become compulsory on crossings after a crash in 1968 at Hixon. And the barriers came down late at that crossing because it is quite long and has 6 tracks
@@brianrigsby7900
At crossings with two pairs of barriers, there is always a delay before each exit side barrier starts falling so that users have sufficient time to leave the railway. The time delay depends on length of traverse, i.e. how many tracks the road crosses.
