Please don't follow stuff like this and mess with anything that plugs into mains if you don't know what your doing, but also electronics like LED's that run on lower voltages you could still cause a short wich can lead to issues, and im pretty sure putting foil or just solder in place of an LED isn't the best idea since that doesn't draw anything and has a different resistance. As for the usb part of this, yeah that seems fairly safe although you might still get shocked from the caps (maybe) and please don't plug that into a pc especially if there's a short somewhere. Just do your research if you wanna get into electronics and don't go messing with with mains unless you know what your doing.

You might get away with jumping over ONE LED...but you are spreading out the voltage over the remaining LEDs. They are in series, and now there are less of them in the circuit, while the applied voltage remains the same. This also increases the current through the remaining LEDs...bringing on earlier failure. Idiots and electricity don't mix.

Very expensive led car headlights can be repaired the same way. Especially if you have something like a kia where the entire plastic assembly must be replaced.
And for those nervous Nellie's out there. A fire from this type of hack is virtually impossible as the fractionally increased load on the LED is internal to the bulb. Thus worst case another diode burns out early and the entire bulb stops functioning.

Yes you are right, maybe if you have 1 or 2 dead bulbs you can solder good led from the others. Also these bulbs also are suffering from extreme heat there and if you remove the light diffuser and drill few holes where the little transformer is you can extend the life of these bulbs. They are intentionally made to die fast so we can buy them more, I don't know what happened with 5 years warranty I swear my bulbs die for less then a year :D.

No!! Don't don't do this. Basically one of the LEDs has failed (probably from getting too hot or being overdriven). Firstly, using a piece of cable may work but is likely unsafe as often these are driven at full mains voltage (if you touch the connection or short it, you could get a shock). Next, if you HAVE determined a faulty led and taken it out of circuit, do it with solder and a link. Taping a piece of aluminium foil over is likely to cause arcing if it is being run at mains voltage as the tape heats up and doesn't make a good connection. Finally, if they are sharing the current, by taking one out of circuit, you end up overruling the remaining ones which will then fail quickly. If you are lucky, you won't cause a fire or get a shock.

As an electrician I must ask you all to NEVER USE ALUMINUM FOIL TO COMPLETE AN ELECTRICAL CIRCUIT!! FFS, doing that kind of stuff has burnt down so many buildings and lives. The solder trick would likely be fine but please for the love of God never use aluminum foil for anything electrical.
Does anyone know why we no longer use fuse blocks for houses anymore despite "S" type fuses being cheaper and more reliable? Answer because too many dipsticks had ideas like this video and started putting copper pennies under a blown fuse and ended up with a burnt down home and a dead family. So the real reason why we started to use breakers was to idiot-proof the electrical system.

This might be different, LEDs don't generally generate much heat and use way less energy. It does depend on the bulb but for these ones are mostly warm to the touch when they run all day and typically run from 5-10watts but generate light as your traditional 60watt house bulb. It doesn't change the spectrum of the lights at all, it looks like it is just completing the circuit so the bulb works when you think it burns out. Only one of the LEDs fails which makes the entire circuit fail or flicker. So all you're doing is completing the circuit at least from what it looks like in the video. I have two LED bulbs that died on me, I will try this and see if it works.

Soldering is best and safest. Plus the lose of one LED gives an extra 1.5 volts to the other LEDS, making the lamp brighter.
