Roses and Clematis are perfect companions and if planted with a climbing rose they can share the same trellis, arch, or pergola. They also require some of the same growing conditions and needs when it comes to soil, fertilizer, and water. they complement each other well as the clematis can cover a rose's bare legs. Both have beautiful blooms that make for a dramatic impact in the garden. In both cases, you get them to bloom together or have a clematis that blooms after the rose for an even longer display of beauty.

That's going to be a beautiful combo :) I didn't realize the Happy Jack blooms on both old and new wood. I can plant it and not worry about rabbits eating the old wood ;)

I have my Nelly Moser clematis' planted with my Eden rose climbers❤ on an arched trellis too. But now I will have to look for later blooming clematis...bc I didn't realize there was such a thing😯
