[Cycling - Amstel Gold Race 2011] Final kilometers and aftermath

The final kilometers of a rather uninspiring Amstel Gold Race 2011. The group with favorites rides towards the final climb of the race, the Cauberg. Andy Schleck (Leopard Trek) has a small gap after an early attack, but Philippe Gilbert (Omega Pharma Lotto) gives a cycling demonstration on the final climb. He reacts in an impressive way on the attack of Joaquim Rodriguez (Katusha) and wins the race.

Astonishing images of a completely unrealistic riding Gilbert who, in that year, won almost every race he started in. Completely suspicious performances of a rider and few of his teammates (Van Endert, Van den Broeck...) who did ride as crazy in 2010-2011, but never reached the same level afterwards. In June 2011, Wim Vansevenant was caught importing doping products into Belgium. He has claimed that the products were for his own personal use even tough the quantities were numerous. The Lotto results of that period are one of the black pages of cycling. A scandal that this episode of suspicious cycling was never cleared out.
