I watched some videos about this game and it just looked like "Disco Elysium but you walk around the Outback and nothing ever happens".
That's kind of how people felt so hopefully some narrative updates will help change that.
While all this is good news, we also have to keep in mind the realities of game development- how much can they change, narratively speaking, without draining Drop Bear Bytes' resources? And how many of said resources does Drop Bear Bytes have to pour into their v2.0 storyline? And let's not forget that NWN 2 and Disco Elysium have had more than their fair share of issues.
Still though, I admit to being cautiously optimistic- the morality system looked great on the game's reveal, and the demo did a good job of setting up the world, so hopefully this turns out well!
Yup this could easily go either way and that's part of what makes it so fascinating.
I bought it on steam summer sales, the recent review seems start pivoting but I don’t know whether now is the perfect time to play through or maybe I should wait for few more extra months of this narrative rewrite.😂
If you think you'll only play it once I would probably wait for the rewrite. It will almost certainly come paired with additional mechanical updates that will make the experience even better.
Stasis: Bone Totem has some really interesting writing, it's a pure horror experience but has a lot of great characters and ideas but very graphic.
Nice! Thanks for letting me know.
I can't recall a scenario quite like this either. Definitley interested to see how it turns out. Though I can't speak on the narrative firsthand (was waiting to buy), it seems unlikely George and Olga being consultants will hurt more than help. Thanks for sharing this, and I look forward to your thoughts when update arrives.
Thanks I will definitely circle back to this game!
This is really interesting. I hope this pays off financially for them.
This is why more games should utilize early release. They’d have got this feedback, then could have hired the new writing team, fixed things up, then done the full launch.
Yup I think they've definitely learned some lessons with this experience. Hopefully the updates go well.
@@SlanderedGaming speaking of studios who need to use early release, how about Owlcat?
Come on guys. It’s not cool to use the first few months of release as your beta test. I love your games once they’re sorted out. Stop doing this to yourself. Use early release!
Hmm, interesting. Thanks for the info. Be keeping an eye out for when they update it completely. Peace
Yup me too!
This is very good news, hopefully it will make the game more interesting and successful permitting them to create many more Crpgs.
Yup I hope so too!
I had this on my backburner. Now I feel like I need to hurry up and play the existing story just so I have a frame of comparison for the improved version
Yup I'm in the same boat.
Damn those are good writers
Yup very exciting!
No idea about this game, but it sounds like this developer is listening. While I love the idea that they’re fixing something from community feedback.. I wouldn’t be surprised if this isn’t more of a full release (that should be called beta testing) and they knew it wouldn’t be their best, but they needed money to finish. I’m just happy to hear that if the second version is true, they actually used the money to fix it. Either way kudos to them
Yup should be interesting to see how it turns out.
Broken Roads isn't my type of settings for games neither is Rogue Trader, but since Roque Trader is on sale for under $30 when this game is affordable I will buy it.
Nice I hope you enjoy them!
Matt Barton just interviewed the dev a few days ago. Might have some more insight if you're interested.
Yup I saw some of that and the dev shouted out our community. :)
@@SlanderedGaming Nice. Glad you're famous in the CRPG universe!
Not to be rude but u dont see it...for damn good reason. Thats a insane risk. That studio most likley go under from this. Damn shame too i remember the stream and tge dev was in chat asking for constructive criticism on the game thats was really cool
Yeah it's definitely a massive risk. I've kept in touch with that dev and I really hope this goes well for him.
