While prepping engagement photos for Jay and Mr. Plinkett, because that's a thing that's happening now, Mike and Jay decide to take a break to talk about two recent movies, Get Out and Logan. - Zábava
Mike's girlfriend: "You wanna do it?"
Mike: "This reminds me of the Star Trek episode where..."
"Commander, tell me about your sexual organs."
"The Breast of Both Girls"?
I wonder if Mike's days alway begin with "Starfleet report date...".
you mean the one where the lady alien goes up to riker and says "i've never had sex with an alien before" and then they have sex?
GREATEST.... COMMENT.... EVER!
It's funny how Mike gets uncomfortable when he really likes a movie. It's like happiness embarrasses him.
He's watched the prequels so many times that enjoying a movie will always be a foreign feeling to him.
his dad was a drunk
He’s slowly becoming thanos!
ThreeOranges His reaction to when he actually loved The Force Awakens is both hilarious and in a strange way very beautiful and heartwarming.
Whoes Mike?
I think Mike comparing something to Star Trek is probably the highest praise he can give something.
The wedding will be one big Klingon Tea Ceremony.

Or Star Trek is a hammer and everything looks like a nail
That reminds me, space ghost is similar to that one episode of Star Trek where....
Jay looking directly at the camera when Mike says "It's like an episode of Star Trek", is just great.
Why do you hate timestamps
mreshadow 5:00
Absolute Jim moment
Jay also made a face right before when mike called it uneven. It looked like jay completely disagreed
Jay edited the episode as well. I bet he was flashing future Jay a look like "Damn it, I know you probably want to cut that out as well but just leave it in. It means a lot to Mike...".
"It is just like Star Trek" - Mike Stoklasa, every time, about everything
Well Star Trek is constantly ripped off.
@@CelestialWoodway is it that or is it that star trek has done so much that its hard to not do something similar?

Can you do it to the tune of "Shots" by LMFAO and Lil Jon?
Jordan Peele actually filmed that exact alternative ending, before deciding to go for the happy ending
That moment when mike accidentally calls captain picard 'dad'
Well, he is like the perfect father figure.
strangetomorrow Well that reminds me of a Star Trek ep. In where.....
As long as he doesn't call him daddy.
Suicide Squad getting an Oscar for costume design is like Transformers getting an Oscar for special effects. Is it noteworthy? No.
daniel henderson Of course it is someone worked hard to make the look good just like an actor worked hard to make a good preformancem the idea that the award does not matter because the person that wins it is not famous is silly.
daniel henderson Transformers didn't win though. Also, they have it to Suicide Squad over Star Trek: Beyond.
It is like reviewing the food in a restaurant with "Well, the seats are comfy, I guess."
It was like a boxer who gets knocked out every fight winning an award for best trunks.
daniel henderson its like a singer getting an award at the grammys for best tits
Captain Picard of the USS Logan
But Jay, Logan is LITERALLY a post-Apocalypse movie!
I was waiting and expecting for mike to say this one, must be the water
the only one who would know anything about comic books is Rich Evans.
thetramp123 I think It's more dystopian than post-apocalyptic. People have jobs, working electricity, tap water, and engage in leisure activities (partying and gambling).
No, I mean the movie literally takes place after that X-Men movie with Apocalypse (presumably, I know there are discussions on timeline stuff but I'd rather not go into that as I was mostly just making a lame joke).
thetramp123 Aha. Very clever.
I love it when Mike starts talking about Star Trek for no reason.
the pickard thing had me dying of laughter
He never does that.

I was disappointed with the lack of saving Martha in this movie also no out of place comedy? Too much good editing? and not enough weak villains? WTF were they thinking 0/10.
To be fair it is Jordan Peele's directorial debut

Yeah forget character development I want as many characters as possible. And where in the fuck was the jar of piss to distract everyone from all the explosions???? I want to see a jar of Jesse Eisenbergs urine not some fucking respectful portrayal of Wolverine.
I think what we're all forgetting is that the movie was missing a big blue sky laser. That's the key to making a great superhero movie.

Hey Mike, I’m surprised you didn’t compare Xavier’s senility and psychic power seizures to the TNG episode “Sarek” (season 3 ep. 23) where Sarek’s Bendii Syndrome causes outbreaks of violence all over the Enterprise - and Patrick Stewart is present for both shows! Thanks for the great video! You guys rock.
good catch, good catch...
yup missed chance
You hacks need to review more terrible films so we don't have to watch them. Now I gotta watch some goddamn movies. Damnit.
@@smurfette_blues7922 So, probably not going to watch Logan twice then... i feel like that. I diagree with the boys on this one. I dont think its a great movie. Just because it was unexpectedly bleak slow and depressing for a superhero film and has some reasonable dialogue. Oh yeah and I cant see past flaws in the plot. They were trying to get the girl back cause they need her... but actually they just were going to kill all the mutant kids??? And actually they dont need her at all because they already have logan 2.0 in the van? And to be honest by the end I was thinking the mutant kids were so jarringly violent and uncontrolable they should probably all be exterminated. Which made logan's sacrifice kind of pointless. What's the point of learning how to live and then just die. Those kids are condemned to a non normal life the same as logan was. This has the same hallmarks as Darth Vaders 5 mins in Rogue One for me. I.e. some fan service logan clawing people doesnt make up for a drudgingly depressing movie.
CorporateZombie None of what you said were plot holes. Your honestly just nit picking at this point. It was a great movie, not perfect, but great.
@The Rue Morgue in my opinion Logan is not in the same league as any of those films.
CorporateZombie I thought you actually made a couple of good points as to what is this girls importance when they have weapon x, or whatever they’re calling upgraded Wolverine, developed already.
Must've been some Dan Aykroyd vodka in that water bottle.
Here in 2023 to quote a wonderful script: “No one’s ever really gone”
Don't worry, no one's ever really gone...
Two movies that Mike and Susan both enjoyed!?!? This is apocryphal.
fuck you for making 123 people google
@The Rue Morgue Hello I am here a year later to say that he probably meant the Susan part, as many viewers might not have gotten the joke. Or maybe the word “apocryphal”
apocryphal
/əˈpɒkrɪf(ə)l/
adjective: apocryphal
(of a story or statement) of doubtful authenticity, although widely circulated as being true.
"his alleged description of opera as ‘fat gits singing’ is probably apocryphal"
professor x being the father figure of a 150 years old man xD
It kind of made more sense in the original timeline when Logan had amnesia, so he only remembered about 30 years worth of experiences.
chickenpermission age is just a number
MMQuck
Roles can be ridiculous some times, but they usually just work
chickenpermission It's a dumb superhero movie
Logan was a ball of rage until he met X so it makes sense imho.
First Oscar worthy superhero movie since the Dark Knight?
Did you see Suicide Squad?
Get out
I like how nobody is realizing that Suicide Squad DID get an Oscar.
Rogue One deserved the makeup oscar for the incredible work they did with Grand Moff Tarkin. He totally didn't look like uncanny cgi
You do know that Spider-Man 2 won an Oscar; it was for special effects.
Invisus Machina *OF THE THEATER*
The ending to Logan straight up destroyed me. Never have I had such a reaction to the loss of a long standing character. Hugh Jackman really gave it his all, he made Logan look genuinely fucked and sick of it all. It felt like every movement he made was painful but he had no choice but to keep going. Fantastic movie.
Bored the shit out of me.
CelestialWoodway Why would you say something so controversial, yet so brave?
Movie Junkie Just the part where Laura sobs and cries and keeps saying "Daddy" over and over again makes a big tough guy like me cry like a little sissy. Logan really was such an amazing, beautiful, emotional, brutal, real and powerful film. The fact that it can bring an absolute annoying fucker and prick like me to tears just goes to show how well done a film it is. Thank you James Mangold for making my favourite X Men film out of them all and thank you Hugh Jackman for wonderfully portraying this character for 17 glorious years. Farewell old friend.
Destroyed you? It was okay. The cross becoming an X was a nice touch. But Fosters Home for Imaginary Mutants was the stupidest fucking thing. "Logan saves the children". Fuck off.
Edgy
When Logan is digging the grave and is just muttering about "water", holy shit. No joke best actor for this, I'm in the camp that this is worth that recognition.
Stephen Merchant as Caliban was seriously great in this film. 100x better than his Apocalypse counterpart.
No. Just you.
MCU is comfort food cinema. Something like Logan is a really nice steak dinner you treat yourself to every now and then. DCEU is like those restaurants that give you ridiculously small portions for 40-50 dollars a plate and then you throw it up when you go home because the cook didn't wash his hands.
TheRcanmeananything I almost agree with you on Logan, but I would add that someone comes in and tells you the steak was made from a scared, defenseless cow that was brutally murdered for your enjoyment.
Except for the Nolan Batman movies... that's very reminiscent of Logan
Wrong about DC. They are food that are acquired tastes. The more you eat it, the more you'll get used to it and eventually like it.
Newer DC movies are an acquired taste in the sense that you can get used to eat bland trash if you eat it constantly.
MCU and Suicide Squad are fast food.
MoS, BvS and Logan are fine cuisine.
Mike's premonition of Patrick Stewart playing an aging almost useless Picard was prophetic...
I can't believe they didn't point out that in Logan, a nice friendly family of farmers is absolutely brutally MURDERED in the most horrific way. A theme like that couldn't even be in a PG-13 movie even if they had no blood and gore.
Kleavers they did the same in origins wolverine, but with old people....I guess that's.. ok?
Showing kids that dick sauce of a movie at all should be a felony anyway.
AMEN!! That's the comment I went in the comments to find. MIND BOGGLING that they included that HORRIFIC torture scene!!
@He-Man ! I bet you breathe through your mouth and look at the ground any time someone darker than eggshell white gets within 20 feet of you.

@@YoloSWAGJude I loved her character & was really disappointed that they had zero intention of continuing with her.
The way Jay just looks straight into the camera after Mike compares Get Out to Star Trek. That was magnificent.
That Austin Powers analogy for the DCCU is beautiful and perfect.
Craig Williams Best part.
It’s only more fitting now that the DCCU has a movie with literal sharks with frickin’ lasers attached to their heads.
Dark Universe would be more fitting now.
Scientist man needs to put together the XMEN universe timeline like he did with the newest Terminator film. That was so very helpful.

Thank you
No one's ever really gone...
When Laura turned over the cross into an X at the end, even though I saw it coming, I couldn't stop the tears from flowing.
Surprised they didn't comment on Dafne Keen at all, she was as brutal as Jackman in most of those action scenes
Dysphoria Blue yea, i did not expect a kid to act like this, she cried so hard snort was coming out of her nose and she still continue acting
recorderex I figured that was CGI for some reason. To goose her performance.
Dysphoria Blue It's also interesting that people seem to only regard this as Hugh Jackman's send-off. It was most likely Patrick Stewart's as well. Hell, it was most likely a send-off to the entire "older generation" X-Men movie era. We may see cameos from Ian Mckellan or something in some future movies, but I don't imagine we'll ever see another extensive Days of Future Past type movie again, and we're definitely not gonna see any full on original cast movies again... that era is effectively over now. It'll be all the Lawrence/McAvoy/Fassbender cast going forward, or we'll see the new generation led by Dafne Keen.
PhantomOfNorleras lol
PhantomOfNorleras dammit i was too engrossed in the movie that time i didnt think of it that way, now i cant watch the movie for the second time, thanks guy.
When people say, "This is the first Oscar worthy superhero movie since The Dark Knight..."
Why does anyone care about the Oscars?
I don't know how you could care about it once you know its just about campaigning and convincing a group of nobodies that your movie should get a trophy.
@@doomstadt2371 I think it's less about the trophy and more about the public recognition. Like it or not (and trust me, I don't either), a lot of people still care about what those 'nobodies' say about movies. If a nerdy movie gets approval it brings nerdy stuff that much further into just general acceptance.
That's a lot less of a big deal now when nerdiness seems to rule and we have things like Marvel that are just broadly popular, but I can totally understand people who grew up in homes that shunned this sort of thing being genuinely excited about nerdy stuff getting proper recognition.
I mean, imagine if your parents shamed you for liking X-Men, and then the snooty movie experts they listen to every year declare superheroes to be the pinnacle of cinema. Wouldn't that be stinking amazing?
A better question is “why does anyone still care about superhero movies?”
@@koholos the better question is "why does anyone still care about movies?"
First time I've seen Mike drink something other than alcohol on the show.
Just watched Logan and I counted about five kids and a baby at the showing of it.
Leland Mason Not a big turnout huh?

@@sodainaplasticbottle5734We have NC-17 for that, which I appreciate. Most quality movies don't deserve an NC-17, so kids aren't missing out on much by being unable to see those, but there are some STELLAR R flicks because they don't always go too over the top for 95% of people, but are allowed to do what they need to be great because of this rating.

Logan is rated R ? Here in France it's "suitable for children 12 and up"
and?
It's because the children complained, so France surrendered to them.

Probably because that one Prom girl showed her tits at the beginning of the film. The violence and language also contributed to it as well.

“And I can only pray they don’t dredge him back up.” Hey greetings from the far distant future of 2022 where they just announced Deadpool 3 featuring Hugh Jackman as Wolverine again.
Hello, time traveller from 2025 here. You’ve got to see what happened when the social justice wokescolds decided that Hugh Jackman is just whitewashing a role which should have gone to an actual wolverine and so he has been retroactively replaced by a digital animal.
A great way to kill off a character and not have the dirt rising up at the end.
21:25 Mike's best Stuckmann impression
Mike drinking water? Doesnt that dilute the alchohol content in his body to a dangerous level of sobriety?
Is this the fastest "reminds me of an episode of Star Trek" Mike ever did? Literally 5 minutes in.
Rich evans once told a story on a gaming stream about how late at night he was biking (long story) and he came upon a little girl tied to a fence. She asked to be untied and when he did she ran off into the night. He thinks he may have killed her

Logan: The Road Chip
We gonna ignore the fact that they predicted the alternative ending almost perfectly to get out
I was on a canal cruise in Amsterdam last weekend and the incidental background music to the audio tour was the opening theme from HITB.
the lil' doggy barks right after mr. plinkett says "old trumpy". this is MASTERFUL editing
Let keep it real, Logan deserved the Oscar, not Black panther
Can't wait for all the Logan imitators now ...
The last minute edit of Justice League will have CG blood spurts every time a hit connects.
+Redresseny
The problem is that isn't normally the case.
Remember, Dark Knight was a very thematic superhero movie but when the rest of Hollywood tried to imitate it, all they thought was "OH IT SUCCEEDED BECAUSE IT WAS DARK SO LETS MAKE OUR MOVIES DAAARK".
In the case of Logan, they will likely think it succeeded because of the violence and that it was "moody". Hollywood normally takes the face value approach.
Redresseny I know the comment is a little old but they aren't enthralled by the fact he's cursing. the fact that he cursed right away is kind of a insight on what the rest of the movie was going to be like. I personally felt like it coulda used less fucks, but it was showing you it's going to be a more gritty movie compared to the old campy x men movies. IMO
Asylum is on it.
If they do ever want to bring the Wolverine back, I reckon Mike would do a pretty decent job, his dramatic chops have come along leaps and bounds.
Jay could totally do the mutton chops though.

Saw Logan last night. LOVED IT! There were legit people sniffling towards the end of the film. I myself was trying to keep emotions in check. It was so sad and so fitting at the same time. Excellent movie.
Logan is why I go into a movie without spoiling it at all for myself. I didn't know what was coming, I didn't pay attention to any of the press at all, and I didn't know this movie would leave me speechless for minutes after it ended. This is one of those movies you don't spoil
Get Out is a remake of The Skeleton Key that was somehow nominated for best original screenplay.

When will they stage an intervention for Mike's crippling Star Trek Addiction?
I'm sure Rachel Dolezal feels awkward around her friends right now because of Get Out.
Johnny Bombardak edgy
Maladaptive Daydreamer What friends?
So funny enough, I recently watched a movie on Netflix called "The Perfection" that she stars in, and I think as a response to get out, she is in a Lesbian, Interracial, relationship. It's actually really good, lot of twists, turns, you never know where it's going, it's super bizarre, you should check it out.
Same goes for Shawn King.
“I can only pray that they don’t dredge him back up” 😬
Whoops
Star Trek 2 minutes in, spoils the entire plot 6 minutes in. This one is a landmark
Now I know how to feel about these things.
I love the genuine frustration in Mike's face every time he catches himself saying Picard.
Also, another fantastic video. Thank you, RedLetterMedia, for all the quality content over the years
The fast and the furious characters are literal gods in those movies. They can't die like regular mortals can.
I watched Get Out without watching the trailer and I am very glad I did. The trailer spoils everything, it's bonkers.
@21:00 if you want to skip to the Logan review.
Thank you!
All good :)
Get Out is awesome though deserves as much attention as Logan.
pretorious700 That's completely nonsensical. Though everything is subjective to an extent, everything has some objectivity, including film. Objectively, Get Out is nowhere near as good as the ratings say.
pretorious700 nice jr high comeback. Get out was just another suspenseful creep movie, but because it was about social issues everyone is slobbing it's nob
Jordan Peele's DVD commentary actually talks about the ending, where he originally filmed the ending Mike and Jay were talking about, where the actual cops show up and arrest Chris for murdering his girlfriend and her family (which I think is also on the DVD). But he says that given the current social climate, a happier ending was needed.
"All good things... Must come to an end" nice subtle TNG reference. Props Mike
