Engineering the perfect overdrive… again! (And this time we brought a friend.)
There is something special about a Keeley Modded Blues Driver. There’s something even more remarkable about Andy Timmons’ tone. Since his exposure to this Keeley modded stompbox early on, it has been virtually glued to Andy’s board. Coincidence? We think not. So, what happens when Andy and Robert use the familiarity of the Super Phat Mod platform to dethrone a classic? Enter the Super AT Mod.
Andy Timmons and his beautiful guitar playing have been known to bring people to tears, literally! After working with Andy for a couple of years we decided to focus his ears on the Keeley Super Phat Mod. There are two significant modifications to the tone of the Super AT Mod Overdrive that will be very apparent to players. The new Timmons mod accentuates both the tone control and the gain creation - making this circuit truly sound and respond like a tube amplifier in a stompbox.

Andy Timmons is a wonderful musician. His tone is sublime.
Andy's musicality, melodic sensibility, right hand mechanics, left hand tone, overall touch...he's got all the most difficult aspects of guitar playing...IN SPADES!!!
(Also, his first appearance on That Pedal Show led me to walk into 30th Street Guitars in Manhattan, when they were still on 30th Street, see a used Keeley modded blues driver on the shelf, and buy it without the need to plug it in).
Andy Timmons is one of these guys I feel like I know ... even though I've never even been in the same room with him!

My Keeley 2 knob compressor is still one of my favorites. When I bought it I got a phone call from Robert asking if I was satisfied with the pedal. I am still impressed with Him and Keeley as a company.

Andy has always been an inspiration. I bought the Super Phat Mod just to recreate his crunchy sounds, since Andy used a Boss BD-2 with the Phat Mod. I also bought the Halo, not because it's Andy's signature delay but because it's a fantastic pedal. Forgive me Robert, I respect you so much but this time I think it was a real commercial operation.
EDIT: buy it if you are a fan of Andy Timmons otherwise buy the Super Phat Mod which is practically identical. Then, if you want to save even more, choose the Boss BD-2.
It most certainly was a commercial operation. It was actually four times more successful than we initially calculated. When Andy flipped out over the tone, I couldn't help make a special presentation out of the tone. We added expensive aluminum knobs to create a custom look we thought appropriate. It's a limited run at this point and people should be happy with their old BD-2 mods or SPM pedals, they have been used on many pro boards, for a couple decades in some cases.
@@RobertKeeleyTV after an initial second thought, I decided to purchase the Super AT Mod, because I'm a Andy fan and above all I'm like St. Thomas, I have to see to believe. I was right. In a blind test it's impossible to distinguish which is the Super Phat Mod and which is the Super AT Mod. To the human ear they are 99% identical.

Great Demo, Still Very Happy With The Halo Delay. Was Looking For Another Drive Pedal and this is exactly what i was looking for. Also the Keeley Compressor + on my board still does the job Great. So a 3rd Keeley pedal on my main board.

How cool is it we now get to have all the pieces of Andy's tone? Ibanez AT, this new fat mod, the jhs at, the halo, the lonestar! I mean, it's a lot of money for the whole package but just those 3 pedals are going to get you real close!

Saw Andy a couple months ago, with some kind of prototype of this, all the important bits covered in painters tape. :) Ordered mine this morning, the prototype sounded SO good thru a Lonestar/Two Rock setup.....Ring my friend I said you'd call Dr. Robert..... Day or night he'll set your tone just right, Doctor Robert...... :D

There still are, good old Exotic preamp, in Andys pedalboard😁. I guess it was kind of "first love" for Andy, and understand very well why it`s in there. And Carl Martins comp as well. I wonder, is there any other guitar legends, who have chased that "right" tone so much and so long like Andy. But when you have those ears, fingers and attitude, it`s not surprise that his tone and playing is beyond of this world.
Hey robert i just got the new super at mod and my parents loved the new sound my dad said it was very tebley my mom loved it like all my new pedals. Andy you are amazing guitarist i always come back to your music and influence on my own playing. Great work great tone great articulation great detail and great clarity its overall a great pedal looks sleek too.I love it guys my name is jeff and i do prefer les pauls with dimarzio at-1.crunch lab, 36th anniversary pafs, tone zone, and seymour duncan jb, pickups. I know that is a bit different from what andy uses but its all up to us to try and make it sing as great as andy but andy will always make it as perfect as perfect can be he is very talented and a humble great guy.

Well, this tone sounds absolutely perfect. This is what I’m aiming for every time I play I’m trying to get the very smallest amount of break up, but it never sounds like this. I bought the Jackson Audio golden boy about a week ago and did not know of this pedal but it’s OK. I’m pretty sure I can achieve this kind of sound or at least get close to it. I’m not Andy though. Wonderful pedal you did a great job as always.

So far this is the only "effect" pedal I own. My first pedal was a EQ, then I got the AT MOD and a ABY switch. Many Keeley pedals on my wishlist. Very impressed.

No matter what pedal we buy, we'll never sound like Andy. His internal rig goes from his brain all the way to his finger tips. With love of music and all other sorts of emotions tapped along the way. Lets work on that.... Our internal rig.
Amazing stuff, only thing that would be nice is if you guys can make the switch be accessed by your feet some how, either with the footswitch like 2 stomps to activate it for instance or a external footswitch so you don't have to switch it by hand.

Totally agree with your assessment. Andy is a sound engineer. He is great at putting pieces together in order to create a completely amazing sound or tone; it's an honor and an education to work with someone like that.

Wabbits love to eat carrots! And peddlers love to sell pedals ;-) But truthfully, it is a limited edition. We may make another batch in the future, but for now, we built a little more than 2,000 and that's gonna have to hold, at least for a little while. ;-)

I wanted to get keeley comp with nos picked. Parts. I’ve hunted. Never has one come up for sale not once .
I do remember some wooden cases and we had three germanium fuzzes with hand selected OC44 transistors. I just don't have many of those parts left anymore.

So when will you be releasing the “AT Workstation” that will combine this and the Halo delay into one dual pedal?! Xmas, maybe, hmmm?! I’m going to need one to go with my other Keeley Workstation pedals. Plus, that WOULD be the best single grab-and-go pedal I could imagine outside of your other workstation offerings… but I’m sure you have already thought of this, no?
