Did anyone else think that he was about to pull out his laptop and record himself singing and then quickly autotune it/adjust the pitch to demonstrate what autotune vs live singing is when he turned around a bit as if to get something or was it just me
this is what fandoms want people, transparency, we all know they themselves would not want to lipsync and the music shows and sound directors need that kind tuned performance so their vocals are not heard as much as they are in a live audience performance, not every singer addresses this which sometimes leads people to have misconceptions, its just so raw and nice of him to talk about it, if we think about its not a big deal to talk about it cause ultimately its all part of their performance
Bro I’d always attend his class and never miss any one of them if he was my teacher I wouldn’t even sleep or feel bored I’d literally be so damn good at learning things from him 😩 bet I would be the best student in his class haha ;)
Bro I have never seen an artist be this transparent. Especially about something which is so controversial and sensetive among the audience. He knows that he could've simply said, "No we don't" and STAYs would have believed him. But he decided to explain it properly so that we can understand their perspective aswell. THIS MAN IS TOO GOOD TO EXIST Y'ALL!!!!!
Plz he is such an amazing guy...and I just love how he was so honest about it and keep explaining it...until we understand... That's what I love about Stray Kids ❤️
I’m just starting to get into stray kids but I am so impressed with them. The fact that he didn’t take it as a criticism but instead took the time to explain how the music industry works, is so really amazing
Years of training really worth a fortune for Chan, made him so articulate about his musical expertise. This man IS A GEM. Stray Kids singing live was proven during their performances on FIRST TAKE (slump/애/scars)
As my brother is a music producer I can say that I can understand what he wanna say The main thing - There's sometimes pre recorded vocals... Sometimes as Chan said...it's totally lipsync only when there are such situations like Windy atmosphere, etc. In stages sometimes they sing over it In some of them they sing over just backing vocals (also known as background or bg vocals) like where mostly we see that last words or syllables or bg scream or other extra voices are already there. Also sometimes the pre - recorded recording is much louder than it should be. It's not skz (also for other groups) who is setting the volume tho. If the music show want their show to look or sound good... They will choose what makes it sound better.
Do you remember the "scandal" of the failed live stage collab between Snoop Dog and Taeyeon? I to this day don't understand the reason Taeyeon couldn't perform. The official reason was some sound track issues, do you perhaps know anything about that and can explain it? I really don't understand what was the issue back then.
@@NoctLightCloud woah I never know that Taeyon have a live duet with Snoop Dog, that's so random lol. Yeah maybe because of some technical issue I think, because as far as I know Taeyeon vocals is top tier 👌 (coming from blink).
Respect to him for actually saying this and not sugarcoating anything, it's obvious that you can not sing live every time because of hard choreography, bad health condition, ways that the video has to be shot and many other factors. Bang Chan really is such an honest and amazing person!
The way he put an effort to exppain it to us about each things he said, it makes me feel a lot closer with him, of course, from heart to heart, not physically. He explained each of them so that we don't get confused or assuming it too quickly. I love this man so much. My bias is Hyunjin, but Chan always hve a soft spot in my heart bcause of his attitude. 😌❤️
As a Stay I’m so freaking proud of how our kings build a relationship with us, they trust in us, they are so transparent. Channie is such a good leader and I’m over the moon with his honest personality. He is an incredible human being.
I am not a very hardcore Stay but unbiasedly speaking I have never seen any idol actually being so transparent about auto tune, backtracks and lipsync. Respect
Wow......the way he said it quite honestly...... And like educated us.... I'm actually quite happy, cause I never understood all this...... Thanks to him now I do!
I deeply appreciate his honesty. We all know not every performance utilizes 100% live vocals, and I like how he explains the reasons why they may use a prerecorded track. In my experience, groups tend to sing more live during concerts than on music shows or special performances, though, so I keep this in mind and I'm not bothered by it.
No they dont. please dont delude yourself. stray kids do try to sing live but the background track is so loud you cant even hear the peoples real voices you spend tons of money on. Which sucks as her other idol groups. Yes, most of them do the exact same thing, but are even worse offenders. The only boy group I can think of that sings live is areez,, but they also we will use pre-recorded tracks for those in studio performances as well.
The audacity of this man to be this precious 🥺 He's probably the only person in this entire industry who'd bother to explain this age old query of every fan from every fandom. Idk how it's possible to love him more,I'm just so thankful for him ;-;

It is a new standard now for me, and every company and group who does not put that much effort into their live stages will not get any kind of praise for me any more. Two members of Stray Kids even did a collab ("City of Stars") with an Itzy member. There is no reason they couldn't do that with over 20 NCT members at their disposal, plus insert maybe one of their aespa members. In particular aespa has such a cool concept that you can do a plethora of things for their live stages, and Mnet MAMA 2021 even had AR/hologram technology, so there is no reason why they missed out on that opportunity!
@@NoctLightCloud Ahh... I see. Well, it's must be so disappointed when your faves didn't put 100% efforts to the award show. It might be because they have a lot of pack schedule to the point that they couldn't have some practice to showcase the special performance. True true. Sm has been pushing the live AR thingy, which is basically like lipsync. Sm stages were so boring, especially aespa at year end awards. Like zero stage settings, only 4 of them dancing in a middle of a big stage and thats all. Probably only mbc gayo were abit fun bcus they performed DCT too. Yeah we all know that they focused on that smcu concert but still the concert arent that grand, and they also not singing live there (except for the ballads). Its just a sad time for aespa bcus im a fan but encore stages basically didnt count as having a proper "live performance". Thats why i love live stages, i love hearing their breathing, their tiredness, their voice cracks bcus its real. You know they are a real singer when they have moments like that.
What chan said is really helpful to many fans. I hope they all know that all idols can't always sing perfectly. Most of the comeback stages for groups are pre-recorded or tuned vocals. I see many comments always say that their faves always sing like that perfectly seeing the comeback stages
Mad respect for this man.I love how real the conversation was.I try not to be obsessed but it's so hard 🥺 He's so handsome and humble like he doesn't even know how great he is 💜💜💜
Alright some people really need to listen about this, Stay or non Stay.. I'm tired looking at some comments like they thought they're actually expert in this live singing issue.. and I really admire how Chan handle that particular comment "live completely drowned out by backtrack basically lipsync", feels like that one coming from antis. Well, I'm pretty sure skz is not the one who control the backtrack volume. What if they have actually sung loudly, we still have to call that lipsync? (plus they're dancing, so of course we can't expect them to sing as loud as when they're not dancing)
This itself shows how the relationship we have is the purest. He didn't have the slightest hesitation and in fact he wanted us to have a more brief idea of it. He is such an honest and sweet person with the most lovable hugs.
Others who have no knowledge of performing will say backtrack sound is lip sync, but backtrack sound actually to help balance the vocal more as they perform while dancing such hard choreography and they are singing it live on top of the backtrack
I love the way that he trying to explain us in a very simple way bc he know we aren't experts musicians and want to be clear to every stay, I love him so much
It always amazes me how well he explains everything. He literally sits there, explaining every single detail that could probably arise from a basic question or thought that stays have. Like when he explained samples (runner's high/Sit down), how to properly address dancers, or just any insight on performances etc. he explains everything trying his best, not just a "oh it's just this" or something like that. I'm so glad that he is the person that he is, what an incredible human being.
i love how he explained everything in detail...he made everyone understand what's the difference between lipsync, autotune, tune and live. and i get it clearly because he is so good at it😍😍
One of the reasons why I got dragged to their world is because they're one of the idols that do sing live, like most of their performances and Chan is right ❤️😌

I love that he explained this to remove confusion because there is a big difference between lipsyncing to the og track and prerecording it. I really like how honest he was about it too! Thank you for teaching us!
Plus its not a bad thing to lipsync, singing while dancing live is really hard , i tried it and my voice were shaking while also catching breath, but ofc don't lie about ur real voice bc ur a singer ure supposed to also sing live as possible. I'm glad he pointed this out bc some antis still don't believe that they can sing that good, welp they're antis they still won't believe them
I agree. BTS has had to have oxygen backstage before or collapsed. How is that good for anybody? I get it; it's a concert and the artists want to sing live, but if they have a lot of hard choreography, it can get dangerous.
I'm looking forward to a day we would see him as a "Coach/Trainer/Mentor" in an idol survival show. He might not be the best when it comes to vocals or dancing but it feels like he has a lot of good insight to share to aspiring idols. It feels like he really has a good personality. He has good ears for music. It feels like if he will be an idol teacher, he will be someone who will teach from the heart.
I love seeing how amazing he was at explaining tune and auto tune and different reasons why they would pre record. It just kind of give you a sense that he cares about people knowing fact from tale😅
this was pretty informative in that, like, we can better understand the difference between true lipsync, raw vocals, backing vocals, prerecorded vocals, etc from what he's said, even though he's not going too technical on us Like there are a ton of industry professionals who specialize specifically in sound processing and vocal tuning during live concerts and performances, and it's much more complex than just "oh this is live, but that isn't", so it really is unnecessary to create those types of "comparison" vids or whatever. There's just way more shit going on behind the scenes (which is smth people tend to forget every single time) Even if the intent is purely from a technical standpoint, unless you do the aforementioned jobs, there really is no basis to what random people on the internet say about live vocals lmao
That’s right. Concert recording is very complex and tricky. Things always go wrong. Post production need to patch up missing parts, even out volume, or take out noises. For those year end award shows, the producers probably prefer pre-recorded vocal to reduce time and mistake. Whatever videos that come out from live stages to be put on CZcams, they have always gone thru polish, clean up, and editing.
@@33Jenesis yeah! I brought up the point of all the collab stages during those year-end shows on another video regarding this!! Like, those performances are 100% prerecorded vocals, could you imagine the headache of tweaking every individual idol's in-ear pieces and mics, while keeping in mind the live stage preferences/guidelines of the different ent. companies involved within the collab stage, as well as the overall expectations of the event itself .... 😵 It's bewildering, and a great example of a valid case where idols will be lipsyncing because it just makes sense to do so from a technical & professional standpoint, as Chan briefly mentioned That being said, and as a STAY, i get some sick form of pleasure when watching stages where skz have to fully lipsync to an otherwise live performance,, because it's like a little easter egg whenever i see one of the guys clearly just smiling even though the audio has them still going off on a note gdhahdks idk I find it hilarious & cute because I know full well they're otherwise absolutely stellar at their jobs and I'm just a huge fan enjoying the ride 😌💚
@@dopesuga i believe collab stages are mostly lip syncing to pre-recorded track. It would be too hard to ask everyone to sing over backing track. Easiest way is to lip sync. There is nothing wrong though. The exception is probably stages without dancing like Chan Lia Felix stage.
Even if a group does lipsync, I feel like some people have a tendency to assume they can't sing. But we have to keep in mind that it's still their vocals, and the words don't come out of thin air. They're talented, and they're lipsyncing to their own vocals. Like Chris said, they just do what fits best for the environment that they're performing in. I love how he explained it really well. Let's stay kind and appreciative to our idols. :)
I love about this man? he was never rude. not even once. which isn't smth i can say about the creator of that video. i wish more idols were as transparent with their fans as straykids are
It’s so cool of him for explaining it and being honest about it. Some groups prerecord their vocal too much and claim (or even brag) that they sing live lol
I mean whether they lipsync or not it doesn't changed the fact that they have beautiful and unique voices. To be more precise I would say their vocals are insane.
I love the fact that he's so honest and open about it, just to educate us about what is autotune and tune I never knew what was the difference because in the U.S they don't really talk about it because it's obvious when the artist isn't singing it live and try to so hard to keep it a "secret" but it's not that hard to tell. Thank You Channie!
I totally get where he's coming from, and don't blame them for a second. I personally don't have an issue with lip-syncing and autotune--we've all done it--and when it serves a purpose, then who the Hell cares, right? There's more important things to worry about. Plus, Stray Kids is perfect, so there. 😂😍😍😍

Facts. And yes educate them fam.
I love hearing Chan explain and talk about the stuff he's passionate about. He's really kind always.
I wish he was my teacher 😅 I get everything when he explains about something even though I don't have any knowledge about that
He is too precious
That was an awesome explanation AND he spoke in English which is such a different and enjoyable experience. Thanks, Chan!
I love seeing how amazing he was at explaining tune and auto tune and different reasons why they would pre record. It just kind of give you a sense that he cares about people knowing fact from tale😅
just when i thought this man could not get any better-
this whole part of the vlive felt like a facetime with your friend pls i love him so much
You can tell he's confident in his group and their singing abilities bc he didn't get all defensive about this question.
You can see him singing live ! He sounds 100% better !
This man is taking over my heart. I could listen to him telling stories or explaining something for days ❤
this was pretty informative in that, like, we can better understand the difference between true lipsync, raw vocals, backing vocals, prerecorded vocals, etc from what he's said, even though he's not going too technical on us
Like there are a ton of industry professionals who specialize specifically in sound processing and vocal tuning during live concerts and performances, and it's much more complex than just "oh this is live, but that isn't", so it really is unnecessary to create those types of "comparison" vids or whatever. There's just way more shit going on behind the scenes (which is smth people tend to forget every single time)
Even if the intent is purely from a technical standpoint, unless you do the aforementioned jobs, there really is no basis to what random people on the internet say about live vocals lmao
It's bewildering, and a great example of a valid case where idols will be lipsyncing because it just makes sense to do so from a technical & professional standpoint, as Chan briefly mentioned
That being said, and as a STAY, i get some sick form of pleasure when watching stages where skz have to fully lipsync to an otherwise live performance,, because it's like a little easter egg whenever i see one of the guys clearly just smiling even though the audio has them still going off on a note gdhahdks idk I find it hilarious & cute because I know full well they're otherwise absolutely stellar at their jobs and I'm just a huge fan enjoying the ride 😌💚
He continues to give me more and more reasons to love him 🥺💖
I appreciate the way he explained it so well, in a really straightforward manner. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
This man is so wholesome. The time and effort he takes to explain everything is commendable.
yk what I love about this man? he was never rude. not even once. which isn't smth i can say about the creator of that video. i wish more idols were as transparent with their fans as straykids are
Damn this guy is so honest and true. And this is so nice about him.
Chan is not afraid to touch this topic
He is sooo honest
I m so proud ..
I totally get where he's coming from, and don't blame them for a second. I personally don't have an issue with lip-syncing and autotune--we've all done it--and when it serves a purpose, then who the Hell cares, right? There's more important things to worry about.
Plus, Stray Kids is perfect, so there. 😂😍😍😍
I love that he is so honest
He makes everything clear ❤️
The way he explains everything is like he's a teacher teaching and carefully giving the details of how they do all the autotunes, lipsync and tunes.. He's just too amazing🥺🥺
♥️♥️♥️♥️
💟💥✨️𝓢𝓽𝓻𝓪𝔂 𝓚𝓲𝓭𝓼✨️💥💟
He is so honest I love him
It's the honesty for me ✋❤️❤️❤️❤️
He not just explained so well but educated too about "why artist should lipsync or why artist not singing live" and he had Perspective as artist, producer, and audience.
Aaawwww I love how honest and transparent he is
Like he’s legit about the specific instances that they aren’t able to do live vocals and I respect him for that
It takes a lot for someone to be H.O.T (Humble Open & Transparent)
This is educating not just for Stay but other fandom as well regarding this misconception and clear false info with artists in general
The way he explain things to us... That's why he is the one idol I trust the most basically the safest person for me😭💕he is so transparent and let us know the truth 😭💕💕💕💕tysm chanieee for everything ❤️
loveeeee Bang Chan for this 😍👏🏽
he's so honest I love him so much
Slapping them with facts, that's our leader y'all 😌
The fact that I watch the video he is watching yesterday is so crazy for me; Chan really sees everything.
The fact this man goes unfiltered every time, and provides us with each n every minute discription
Never lipsync😍, and the mic always on😍
Omg fans never ask idols this I'm so glad stays are brave enough for this... and I'm so glad chan actually answered honestly instead of ignoring the question to seem "perfect" or "flawless".
A huge respect for this man ❤️ not all are this transparent and we appreciate it
Chan educating us is the most beautiful part of being a stay. I’m a science major, knowing a lil of music technicality makes it more interesting
The special relationship we have♥️SKZ X STAY.......CHAN IS LIKE A TEACHER TO ME.....teach us how to be honest.. always be humble.. be fearless to achieve your dream... always be your TRUE self...THERE IS ALOT I LEARNED FROM HIM ND FROM THE GROUP......THEY R LIKE GUIDING ME TO RUN TOWARDS MY GOAL ♥️ ND I'M TRYING MY BEST♥️♥️♥️
LOVE STRAY KIDS... STRAY KIDS MAKES STAYS STAY♥️
we👏🏻love👏🏻and👏🏻respect👏🏻transparent👏🏻performers👏🏻
Every day more in love with this man called Bang Chan
Everyone needed this explanation
I have never seen an idol take the time to explain shit like this 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼. I also don't understand why people think of performances where people don't sing live as less, dude I get winded just holding a conversation while walking.
I’m so happy that he’s actually being completely honest
I love how honest he is
And this is why, people, we need a Chan in our fan life. I know there are things that we should not be asking, or there are things that we must not know or even butt in about, but, I just love how he is very transparent to the fans. Especially to things that he thinks might be bothering or is a big deal to us. He's just so patient and honest here. Thank you, Chan 💖
I appreciate him explaining it so clearly to us. I saw the video a few days ago and it never occured to me that the actual idols mentioned could be watching it. Just nice to hear the full story.
I love how he explains so well
I love how he is so honest and not lying like many other artists.
I love the fact that Bangchan is always honest with everything ❤❤❤
