      @@StevOPelOYeah but unfortunately he gets overlooked because of all the blast beat typewriter drummers. Honestly , i've heard some of the newer guys say he was a good basic power metal drummer. I'm with you he's a god!! I say typewriter because it sounds like a typewriter... I know i'm old. 😅😅😅

    • @myaramiu
      @myaramiu Před 4 dny

      @nathanwalsh3028 I don't think he's underrated at all. I think he is perfectly rated. Growing up we heard about him and Dime a ton. This must just be a younger generation thing just discovering him because he's been famous and well renowned for decades before he died.

    • @ori0nn6
      @ori0nn6 Před 4 dny

      @@myaramiuI'm eighteen, been playing drums for some years and listening to metal music since I was a toddler and don't know abt the 90's generation but nowadays on mine i don't see Vinnie being mentioned as he should be, nowadays the drummer that its considered the best it's the fastest one (not for everyone tho) Vinnie had creativity and knew how he should play drums in each part, great feel, and also great sound, huge ass sound, love him totally, as I said not for all the people there is always some exception but we are sadly on another metal age. Cheers

    • @myaramiu
      @myaramiu Před 3 dny

      @@ori0nn6 Yeah my point exactly. Your generation just doesn't talk about him. He was appreciated just fine by other ones though, the 80s and 90s kids are still around xD

      @@ludwigdrummer7802 Billy Cobham did that in 73 with Quadrant 4 and Carmine Appice in 70 with Parchman Farm. Alex got that from either one.

    • @ludwigdrummer7802
      @ludwigdrummer7802 Před měsícem +2

      @@gregoryjohnston6742 Alex got the double bass shuffle from Parchment Farm with Carmine Appice on drums. He and Eddie also played Spectrum by Billy Cobham after it came out. They would jam on those songs together.
      However, I was talking about the beginning where Alex added the bass drum "hertas", which had never been done before. He used Simmons SDS-5 brains and pads because he wanted that specific sound. He played the hertas with his hands and the double bass shuffle with his feet. Plus, if you listen to the isolated drum track at the end of "Hot for Teacher" he plays 16th notes with his feet at 260 bpm. No one had ever played 16th notes on a recording at that speed before.

    I knocked on the door of the tour bus thinking that it was MORBID ANGEL‘s bus but it was actually Vinnie and dime bag-- they directed me to the other bus and this was when Vinnie PAUL told me about putting a quarter under the beater head for the kick drum….. really really great stuff and those guys are the real deal such amazing and loving and compassionate human beings!!!!!! ❤❤❤❤❤😊😊

    I was the kid that bought that record when it came out Sitting there staring at my stereo going WTF?!! I figured it out a bit later but I just love vince. Plus he did the 4 note patterns in domination breakdown leading with his left foot And doing the double skip in that pattern too. So one note with the left foot... To on the right... One note on the left. He had a very interesting way of playing double kick and it works for me because i'm goofy and lead with my left foot too. I'm a left handed person playing a righty kit. I do the becoming groove doing the first two notes with my left foot. Basically The reverse of how you start it. Yes I know goofy...😅😅😅

    I thought I had found my favorite metal band after And Justice for All dropped. Then an older distinguished & cultured gentleman pulled up in front of the friend’s parents house in which we were that hot summer evening. Yelling from the cracked window with tint so dark & smoke rolling from u didn’t know for sure if u were entering the vehicle of a friend or the deepest layers of hell. Hurry!!! the voice yelled, u’ve got to hear this!!! I jumped in the back seat relieved it indeed wasn’t hell…or so I thought. “You guys have got to hear this band, I heard this song earlier today & had to go buy the album. Rewinding the cassette tape to the beginning I seen the finish had worn from the rewind button from having to hear this song he so anxiously awaited to play for my friend David & me. Both older boys that I haven’t the slightest clue if they knew then or ever would how influential the were upon my young moldable mind. Finally the tape stopped rewinding he paused it quickly & peering into both our eyes told us once again “You guys have got to hear this bc I promise u ain’t never heard anything like it before…” I didn’t think the moment would ever arrive but it had. Taking the cassette off pause he turned his 6x9 Alpine 3 way speakers to such a high volume u could hear the his of silence shhhhhhhhh….then it happened. The beginning of Cowboys from Hell began with a sound I’d never heard. Then the riff, next bass & finally the drums all scream to life. Swelling the volume knob to its highest point I hear the first vocal line….
    Ohhhhhh Come on!!!
    Under the lights where we stand tall
    No body touches us at all
    Showdown
    Shootout
    Spread fear within without
    We’re gonna take what’s ours to have
    Spread the fear throughout
    They sad bad guys wear black
    Were tagged can’t turn back
    They see us coming now run for cover….
    We’re taking over this town….
    That was it, it was settled there & then that Pantera would be the most powerful force of metal music to ever grace my ears. I tuned 15 that following summer & I was so lucky to have an amazing mom. She bought my friend & me both tickets to see them on the 1st leg of their Vulgar display of power album. She dropped us off downtown Indianapolis at the Murat theater which made the mistake of putting them in the Egyptian Room which had rows of seating. It didn’t take long for the crowd to loose their minds & remove the seating as if they were folding chairs from a WWE event not fastened to the floor as they were. They sounded exactly as they did on CD even w/o the rhythm track DimeBag always laid. Thank u mom u were the best & lay restfully knowing u indeed raised a metal head gangsta 💪🫶🤜🤛
